[0:01] Jesse McAnally: All of my precious work! My tarantula egg rolls! My gorgonzola and harpy egg quiche! My frill-easier casserole!
[0:08] Andrew DeWolf: Oh, God!
[0:10] Liz Esten: Thank goodness.
[0:12] Jesse McAnally: You don't eat quiche?
[0:14] Andrew DeWolf: No, I mean all the other stuff.
[0:16] Liz Esten: Oh. Gorgonzola?
[0:19] Andrew DeWolf: Blech.
[0:20] Jesse McAnally: Hello, I'm Jesse McAnally.
[0:31] Andrew DeWolf: And I'm Andrew DeWolf.
[0:33] Liz Esten: And I'm Liz Esten.
[0:35] Jesse McAnally: And welcome to The Cheese Wheel, a hyperfixation podcast where our topics are usually gambled. But this week, we have a Patreon pick, and this one was by our dear patron, Puffy Boy.
[0:47] Andrew DeWolf: I feel like we should really let them introduce this project.
[0:52] Liz Esten: So, to discuss why they picked this week's topic, which is both Scary Godmother films, here is Puffy Boy themselves.
[1:02] Puffy Boy: Hi, Jess and Andrew. The reason I suggested Scary Godmother for The Cheese Wheel is because I feel like everyone at least has some memory of at least watching it at some point. And in my opinion, whether they think it's good or bad, people remember this special because of the sheer uniqueness of it. I mean, like, they might remember the cast of characters, the uncanny CG, or even the sequel. Either way, there seems to be a certain, like, je ne sais quoi about Scary Godmother that draws people to it. As for me, I really like this special, mostly from the art design and scenery, and my favorite character is definitely Skelly. Hope you enjoy Scary Godmother.
[1:39] Jesse McAnally: That was a lovely message, just for me and Andrew, though. Liz, you weren't allowed to listen to that.
[1:44] Liz Esten: I'll just leave. Bye, everybody!
[1:48] Andrew DeWolf: Go back to the bright side.
[1:52] Jesse McAnally: Yeah, I'm gonna go hang out with Skelly, my closet roommate, who's definitely not gay.
[2:00] Andrew DeWolf: In case you weren't picking up what we're throwing down, this week, as a patron request from Puffy Boy, we are talking about Scary Godmothers, both 1 and 2. But first, we're doing the first one. It's Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular! Cue the trailer.
[2:16] Jesse McAnally: This week on Cartoon Theater, Jimmy and his fiendish friends play a Halloween trick on little Hannah Marie. Every year, the new kid has to leave candy in the basement. But this princess's Scary Godmother appears with her own treats in store. Say hello to your Scary Godmother! Will Hannah return from the bright side? More importantly, will she want to? Watch Scary Godmother, today at 4, if you dare!
[2:43] Jesse McAnally: Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular is a film written by Heath Corson and Jill Thompson, directed by Ezekiel Norton, based on the Scary Godmother series of books by Jill Thompson, specifically a community theater stage production of the first book. The special premiered at the 2003 San Diego Comic-Con on July 18th to favorable audience receptions reported by Comic Book Resources. The special, along with The Revenge of Jimmy, became an annual tradition for Cartoon Network to air during the Halloween season, with the latest reported airing being in October of 2012.
[3:14] Andrew DeWolf: Yee, it's been a minute!
[3:17] Jesse McAnally: Scary Godmother was really highly rated. It was the most viewed cable program with kids, with over 1 million viewers from kids in the 6-11 demographic. And it was the highest rated Cartoon Network special of 2004.
[3:29] Andrew DeWolf: In 2020, the special resurged in popularity with the prevalence of TikTok videos of people syncing to the show's audio or dressing up as characters from the special.
[3:42] Jesse McAnally: The plot of Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular is, Hannah Marie's Halloween is off to a spooky start with costumes and candy and scary stories from her cousin Jimmy. But when Jimmy and his friends frighten her to tears, her Scary Godmother sets things right.
[3:57] Andrew DeWolf: Um, that's pretty ominous.
[4:00] Liz Esten: It's also true, though.
[4:02] Jesse McAnally: It is!
[4:04] Andrew DeWolf: There's no murder involved.
[4:06] Liz Esten: That boy needs therapy.
[4:09] Jesse McAnally: He gets sitted from fucking Twister.
[4:12] Andrew DeWolf: That's the subtitle of the sequel, That Boy Needs Therapy.
[4:15] Liz Esten: Right, he did get sitted.
[4:18] Jesse McAnally: So, did we watch this as a kid? Is this our generation?
[4:23] Andrew DeWolf: It feels like 2004, we're in that Cartoon Network watching time. This is 6-11, I would have been about 9. So, makes sense.
[4:31] Liz Esten: Yeah, did you watch it?
[4:35] Andrew DeWolf: I feel like I did.
[4:37] Liz Esten: You feel like it. What about you, Liz?
[4:39] Liz Esten: I was like, 8? 9? I 100% watched this a lot. Every October. I had very low threshold for scariness as a child, so this is kind of like, a dream for me, because it's not scary at all.
[4:55] Jesse McAnally: I don't know, the animation's pretty freaky to me today.
[4:58] Andrew DeWolf: The animation's horrifying, but I had a crappy TV, so it didn't look that bad.
[5:02] Liz Esten: That's fair.
[5:04] Andrew DeWolf: I remember watching it a good amount, because I would have to spend my weekends over at my grandmother's house, and she only had like 5 channels, and one of them was Cartoon Network, and that's the only thing you gotta watch!
[5:16] Jesse McAnally: I think it's still charming. I still enjoyed this quite a bit. It's got a certain early 2000s transitioning to decent CGI charm.
[5:32] Andrew DeWolf: This is still very much in the Jimmy Neutron era, when CGI looked like shit.
[5:36] Jesse McAnally: It doesn't look great.
[5:41] Andrew DeWolf: It doesn't look like 90s CG, where it's completely uncanny. It's kind of just like right before they got it down, you know?
[5:52] Jesse McAnally: It's like right before they got good. Also for context, we watched a 4K HD remaster of this, so it looks way scarier.
[6:01] Andrew DeWolf: It does look a little more uncanny.
[6:04] Jesse McAnally: I think that, okay, call me crazy. We've covered a lot of Christmas specials in our previous iteration of the show. This is better than every Christmas special we've watched on this show.
[6:20] Andrew DeWolf: It's better than Grandma, definitely.
[6:22] Jesse McAnally: Not counting the live-action ones, I'm guessing.
[6:24] Andrew DeWolf: Yes, yes, yes. I'm talking about the TV specials.
[6:27] Liz Esten: Yeah, because we watched some decent Christmas Carol adaptations.
[6:30] Andrew DeWolf: No, I'm talking about like, you know, Olive got ran over by the reindeer in Grandma.
[6:36] Jesse McAnally: You just fucking mix both of those up, you fuck.
[6:39] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, you just put them both together.
[6:41] Jesse McAnally: Olive, the other reindeer.
[6:43] Andrew DeWolf: Olive got ran over by a reindeer. I would put this on a similar level to all of the other reindeer, but I definitely think this is more enjoyable, like, watching it now. I think just Halloween vibes hit me better than Christmas vibes, right about now.
[6:55] Liz Esten: Yeah.
[6:56] Andrew DeWolf: Also, the puns are better. There's so many puns you can do with monsters versus, like, Christmas puns. And Scary Godmother is... They have the puns, and they're just digging in. They're like, let's just keep going. How many can we use?
[7:14] Jesse McAnally: What is the plot of the first Scary Godmother, Andrew?
[7:18] Andrew DeWolf: So, it starts out with us getting introduced to... There's a group of five kids, four of whom are friends. One is a tag-along. Named Hannah. Poor Jimmy has to bring Hannah, his little cousin, along trick-or-treating. There's a lot of discussion about what they're all dressed up as, but Jimmy's a fucking asshole, so of course he's dressed as the devil, and he decides that they're not going to trick-or-treat until they prank their fucking little tag-along, Hannah. So they send Hannah into the scare house, which is just...
[7:56] Liz Esten: The spook house.
[7:57] Andrew DeWolf: The spook house. It's just scary, I guess. It's a scary-looking house. It's the monster house of the neighborhood. So they send Hannah in there, and tell her that unless she throws some candy down into the basement, the monsters are going to come out and eat all the kids in the whole world. Which is crazy, but little kids believe that, because they're dumb. So she goes in, she does that, she gets spooked, obviously, and Jimmy and the friends lock her in there because they're just sadistic. Very, very cruel.
[8:31] Jesse McAnally: So the scary godmother shows up, who is a witch in green and purple colors, and she takes her to Halloween Town. I mean, the Fright Side. I mean, Halloween Town. I mean, the Fright Side. There's like five... I guess it's always Halloween Town. I'm just like, oh...
[8:50] Andrew DeWolf: The Fright Side is Halloween Town if there was only one house. And like five people live there.
[9:01] Jesse McAnally: Alright, go to the Fright Side. And she's holding a party, and basically the entire thing is just monsters keep getting introduced, and Hannah's scared of them, but then she realizes they're actually not that scary. And then the ending is they all scare the fuck out of Jimmy and his friends, and then it ends. 45 minutes. It's a tight story. There's not a ton to it, but it's only 45 minutes, and it's breezy. It's easy breezy.
[9:35] Andrew DeWolf: There's a whole micro-subplot about pizza, and paying for pizza, and why they ordered so many pizzas. And that gets paid off in the sequel.
[9:44] Jesse McAnally: It does, actually. That's an important plot point for the sequel, Indentured Servitude. For what I assume is probably children's favorite character, but is the person that I fucking despise this entire book.
[9:57] Andrew DeWolf: You hated Harry?
[9:59] Jesse McAnally: I hate Harry. Holy shit, he's so not funny in any way. And it's just like, why do these people even have him around? He's insufferable.
[10:09] Andrew DeWolf: That's the joke. Everyone has a hangabout.
[10:13] Jesse McAnally: Yours is named Jess.
[10:15] Liz Esten: You are not my hangabout.
[10:19] Jesse McAnally: You're my sugar daddy. And I'm also here.
[10:23] Andrew DeWolf: No, no, no. I'm actually gonna ask this, because I think it's relevant. I don't think any of us are on the bright side. Honestly, I think all of us are part of Jimmy's stupid gang.
[10:33] Liz Esten: Yeah, you're probably right.
[10:35] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, you're probably right. Who's Jimmy?
[10:39] Jesse McAnally: I think Andrew's Jimmy.
[10:41] Andrew DeWolf: I'm obviously the girl.
[10:43] Jesse McAnally: You're the girl that dresses up like a cat, because I can just see you wearing that same fucking costume.
[10:47] Liz Esten: Genuinely? I would wear that costume if I was a 12, 13 year old, and I didn't care.
[10:53] Andrew DeWolf: That means that you're the baseball player in an SUV.
[10:55] Jesse McAnally: Or he's a piece of candy.
[10:57] Andrew DeWolf: Or he's a piece of candy. I'm pretty sure I'm the piece of candy kid.
[11:01] Jesse McAnally: No, Jess, that means we have to flirt with each other in this con.
[11:03] Liz Esten: Ew.
[11:05] Andrew DeWolf: Honestly, I think you're closer to Hannah than you are to the cat girl.
[11:09] Jesse McAnally: Honestly, I was Hannah when I watched this. I was that little bratty sister no one wanted to hang out with.
[11:15] Liz Esten: Hannah is a total Mary Sue. We need to talk about this.
[11:19] Andrew DeWolf: What?
[11:21] Liz Esten: Hannah is a total Mary Sue. They woke it.
[11:25] Andrew DeWolf: It got woke.
[11:27] Jesse McAnally: Oh my goodness. Can I show you? I'm sorry. In looking up these fucking kids' names, there's an entire Scary Godmother wiki.
[11:39] Andrew DeWolf: Daryl.
[11:41] Liz Esten: The kid that dresses up like a piece of candy. I just need to show you how long his Wikipedia page is. They describe his relationship with every character.
[11:47] Andrew DeWolf: Jimmy.
[11:49] Liz Esten: Daryl is likely a school friend of Jimmy's and is seen going trick-or-treating with him. In the first movie, Daryl has blue dots for eyes. However, in the second one, his blue dots are replaced with dark brown ones.
[12:01] Andrew DeWolf: I don't know. People are passionate.
[12:03] Liz Esten: They love Scary Godmother.
[12:07] Andrew DeWolf: I look like Daryl, so I agree with that.
[12:09] Jesse McAnally: Andrew, you are Jimmy. I'm sorry.
[12:12] Andrew DeWolf: 100% scare her and put her in the scare house or the spook house.
[12:15] Jess McAnally: But I would be so scared when...
[12:17] Andrew DeWolf: But then I get to traumatize him at the end of the movie so it works out.
[12:21] Jess McAnally: I love that the sequel addresses it.
[12:24] Andrew DeWolf: We'll get there, but Jimmy is...
[12:26] Jess McAnally: fucked.
[12:29] Andrew DeWolf: Okay, is that a really controversial take that the sequel is significantly better than the first one?
[12:34] Jess McAnally: No, it's not even, it's not even. Everyone agrees with you.
[12:37] Andrew DeWolf: We'll get there, we'll get there.
[12:38] Jess McAnally: Um, what's fun about the character...
[12:41] Andrew DeWolf: Um, so we got Hanna-Marie, scaredy-cat, we got...
[12:45] Jess McAnally: We talked about the kids, the kids are just kids sitting around.
[12:48] Andrew DeWolf: The kids don't fucking matter.
[12:49] Jess McAnally: Jimmy and Hanna are the only two who, like, maybe matter, but even they barely...
[12:54] Andrew DeWolf: Like, Hanna is just a vessel for the audience.
[12:57] Jess McAnally: Yeah, the other kids, the older kids in the entire movie waiting for Hanna to come out instead of trick-or-treating even though that was their plan all along to get rid of her so they could go trick-or-treating.
[13:08] Andrew DeWolf: They wanted to scare her and then bring her home, they didn't want to, like, kill her, you know?
[13:11] Jess McAnally: They didn't want to shove her in the basement and throw her down the stairs.
[13:14] Andrew DeWolf: I mean, they probably didn't want to, but this is a children's film.
[13:17] Jess McAnally: But they also never go in to check on her, so I don't know what their plan was.
[13:20] Andrew DeWolf: They never check on her, they just wait!
[13:23] Jess McAnally: Um, they were just gonna have to deliver a corpse home to Hanna's mom.
[13:27] Andrew DeWolf: Um, so scary godmother herself, she's like this eccentric Miss Frizzle type, but also spooky.
[13:34] Jess McAnally: She's like the least developed of everybody, I'd say.
[13:37] Andrew DeWolf: She's just kind of the host, you know?
[13:40] Jess McAnally: I guess she's a witch, she does use magic occasionally.
[13:43] Andrew DeWolf: I mean, yes, but she's not a Mary Sue.
[13:46] Jess McAnally: She, like, puts a poor werewolf into indentured servitude.
[13:50] Andrew DeWolf: And also doesn't have money.
[13:52] Jess McAnally: Well, poor werewolf, we could put that in quotes.
[13:55] Andrew DeWolf: He's an insufferable werewolf who deserves it.
[13:58] Jess McAnally: Awful, he's an awful werewolf.
[14:00] Andrew DeWolf: And we have Count Max and Count Ruby, I did not notice that.
[14:04] Jess McAnally: Max and Ruby.
[14:05] Andrew DeWolf: And Orson.
[14:06] Jess McAnally: Orson Welles.
[14:07] Andrew DeWolf: The vampires.
[14:08] Jess McAnally: Orson Welles, yes.
[14:09] Andrew DeWolf: Um, who can't eat garlic, and are goofy little vampire characters.
[14:16] Jess McAnally: They're there.
[14:18] Andrew DeWolf: Um, I like the relationship between Hanna-Marie and Orson, because it's adorable, and I don't get the romantic vibe there.
[14:25] Jess McAnally: You know what I mean?
[14:26] Andrew DeWolf: What I like about these vampires is that they actually are going to eat the kid.
[14:30] Jess McAnally: Yes.
[14:31] Andrew DeWolf: They did want to eat her.
[14:32] Jess McAnally: They genuinely thought that she was food until they were told otherwise.
[14:36] Andrew DeWolf: It's like that Finding Nemo scene, but worse looking.
[14:40] Jess McAnally: So it sort of just implies that they do actually eat people when they are not, you know, told to be friends with them.
[14:48] Andrew DeWolf: All right, if we had to rank all these characters, um...
[14:52] Jess McAnally: I mean, we're missing a couple.
[14:53] Andrew DeWolf: What about the skelly?
[14:54] Jess McAnally: Well, that's why we're going to do this right here.
[14:57] Andrew DeWolf: Oh, we're going to tier list this shit.
[14:59] Jess McAnally: Okay.
[15:00] Andrew DeWolf: Let's start with, uh, sportsman driving a SUV.
[15:06] Jess McAnally: I'm going to go with C tier on this kid.
[15:09] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, he's fine.
[15:11] Jess McAnally: Hanna-Marie, she is...
[15:13] Andrew DeWolf: A tier.
[15:14] Jess McAnally: B, maybe A.
[15:15] Andrew DeWolf: I'd go with A.
[15:17] Jess McAnally: A.
[15:18] Andrew DeWolf: She's sweet, though.
[15:19] Jess McAnally: Scary Godmother, also A.
[15:21] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah.
[15:22] Jess McAnally: Yeah.
[15:24] Andrew DeWolf: Bugaboo!
[15:25] Jess McAnally: A?
[15:26] Andrew DeWolf: A, yeah.
[15:27] Jess McAnally: I think he's S. I'm going to argue S.
[15:30] Andrew DeWolf: No, no, I don't think anyone here is an S tier character.
[15:34] Jess McAnally: No, that's not true. There is an S tier character, but it's not Bugaboo.
[15:37] Andrew DeWolf: Fine, I'm putting Bugaboo in S.
[15:39] Jess McAnally: R, A.
[15:40] Andrew DeWolf: Then we have Countess Ruby.
[15:42] Jess McAnally: D.
[15:43] Andrew DeWolf: She's there.
[15:44] Jess McAnally: She's a lady.
[15:45] Andrew DeWolf: The two parents are very kind of boring.
[15:47] Jess McAnally: Yeah, Orson, where's he going?
[15:50] Andrew DeWolf: D?
[15:51] Jess McAnally: Orson's B.
[15:53] Andrew DeWolf: B.
[15:54] Jess McAnally: Cool.
[15:55] Andrew DeWolf: Catgirl.
[15:56] Jess McAnally: Catgirl is B because of the romance plot.
[15:59] Andrew DeWolf: Okay, she's got some...
[16:01] Jess McAnally: Scully.
[16:02] Andrew DeWolf: Okay, S tier.
[16:03] Jess McAnally: S tier.
[16:04] Andrew DeWolf: S tier.
[16:05] Jess McAnally: Yeah.
[16:07] Andrew DeWolf: Wolfman.
[16:08] Jess McAnally: D tier.
[16:09] Andrew DeWolf: D tier.
[16:10] Jess McAnally: This guy sucks.
[16:11] Andrew DeWolf: This guy fucking sucks.
[16:13] Jess McAnally: Scary Godmother's cat, C.
[16:15] Andrew DeWolf: She's only in the sequel, so spoilers.
[16:18] Jess McAnally: Darryl, the candy kid.
[16:20] Andrew DeWolf: So, Jessie.
[16:21] Jess McAnally: B.
[16:22] Andrew DeWolf: C.
[16:23] Jess McAnally: B?
[16:24] Andrew DeWolf: B because of the romance plot.
[16:25] Jess McAnally: Yeah, also he looks like you.
[16:27] Andrew DeWolf: He does look like me.
[16:29] Jess McAnally: And Jimmy, I think he's A.
[16:31] Andrew DeWolf: A tier.
[16:32] Jess McAnally: I think that's a solid tier list.
[16:34] Andrew DeWolf: Also, we're missing him.
[16:35] Jess McAnally: Where the fuck is the vampire dad?
[16:37] Andrew DeWolf: I think they just murdered four of them together.
[16:39] Jess McAnally: Oh, they forgot him.
[16:41] Andrew DeWolf: He's just the parent.
[16:43] Jess McAnally: He is one of the only people with an arc, though, which is in the first one.
[16:47] Andrew DeWolf: I would put the dad in C over the mom, I think.
[16:51] Jess McAnally: Yeah.
[16:52] Andrew DeWolf: Well, the dad does have an arc.
[16:54] Jess McAnally: Yeah, that's a good tier list.
[16:55] Andrew DeWolf: Speaking of tier lists, how about we compare our opinions to those of the real critics on Letterboxd.com?
[16:59] Jess McAnally: It's time for previews.
[17:02] Andrew DeWolf: We're going to speedrun this, guys, so we're going to be really, really fast.
[17:05] Jess McAnally: So, this is a game where I pull real Letterboxd reviews from Letterboxd.com, and Andrew and Liz have to go head to head and guess whether they're one star or five star based on nothing but a review alone.
[17:10] Andrew DeWolf: All right, Andrew, you're starting.
[17:16] Andrew DeWolf: Okay.
[17:17] Liz Esten: Uh, no.
[17:18] Andrew DeWolf: Sorry.
[17:19] Liz Esten: My soul's worth more than 12 beats.
[17:21] Andrew DeWolf: Jesus fucking Christ.
[17:22] Liz Esten: Lower your standards.
[17:24] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, high and mighty over here.
[17:26] Liz Esten: We're going to go with a five.
[17:29] Andrew DeWolf: That is correct, Liz!
[17:30] Liz Esten: Yes.
[17:31] Andrew DeWolf: Can I get a goth GF?
[17:34] Liz Esten: A five.
[17:36] Andrew DeWolf: That is a one.
[17:38] Liz Esten: Andrew!
[17:39] Andrew DeWolf: Yep, yep.
[17:41] Liz Esten: What a priceless in-joke for those of us who are long-time spectators.
[17:45] Andrew DeWolf: Oh, that's a quote.
[17:46] Liz Esten: Okay.
[17:47] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, um, well, they're quoting the worst character, but that tells me that maybe they like it, though.
[17:52] Liz Esten: So, we're going to go five.
[17:54] Andrew DeWolf: That is correct, Liz!
[17:55] Liz Esten: Yes.
[17:56] Andrew DeWolf: Come on, guys.
[17:57] Liz Esten: You can't say spook house.
[17:59] Andrew DeWolf: It's 2018.
[18:00] Liz Esten: 2018?
[18:01] Andrew DeWolf: Uh, five.
[18:04] Liz Esten: That is correct.
[18:05] Andrew DeWolf: Andrew!
[18:06] Liz Esten: Yep.
[18:07] Andrew DeWolf: I ate so much pasta while watching this!
[18:08] Liz Esten: Are you okay?
[18:09] Andrew DeWolf: Jesus Christ.
[18:11] Liz Esten: No, I feel like I'm saying five a lot, but, like, five.
[18:15] Andrew DeWolf: Like, that much pasta must have been great.
[18:18] Liz Esten: That is correct, Liz!
[18:19] Andrew DeWolf: Yes.
[18:20] Liz Esten: They were literally all gay!
[18:22] Andrew DeWolf: I mean, yeah, they were.
[18:24] Liz Esten: Five stars.
[18:25] Andrew DeWolf: That's a one.
[18:26] Liz Esten: Andrew!
[18:27] Andrew DeWolf: Yep.
[18:28] Liz Esten: A long-form bowling alley animation.
[18:30] Andrew DeWolf: That's so true!
[18:32] Liz Esten: We're going to go with one, but that's true.
[18:35] Andrew DeWolf: That is the truth, and that is correct.
[18:37] Liz Esten: Yes.
[18:39] Andrew DeWolf: Bugaboo is shaped like a friend.
[18:41] Liz Esten: He is a friend in my heart.
[18:43] Andrew DeWolf: Five.
[18:44] Liz Esten: That is a one!
[18:45] Andrew DeWolf: What?
[18:47] Liz Esten: Fuck you!
[18:48] Andrew DeWolf: Yep.
[18:49] Liz Esten: Recount!
[18:50] Andrew DeWolf: Recount what?
[18:51] Liz Esten: Stop the steal!
[18:52] Andrew DeWolf: That was a running joke where they kept making him do a recount and counting it.
[18:56] Liz Esten: Oh, yeah.
[18:57] Andrew DeWolf: It was not very funny, but I guess this person thought it was great, so we're going to go five, because they thought that was a great joke.
[19:05] Liz Esten: That was a one-star, Andrew.
[19:06] Andrew DeWolf: You were wrong, and that is our game!
[19:08] Jess McAnally: At least until we get on to the sequel.
[19:10] Andrew DeWolf: In the meantime, I think we've said all we've got to say about the first one.
[19:13] Jess McAnally: What is our overall thoughts on Scary Godmother, the first one, and our cheese rating?
[19:17] Andrew DeWolf: Scary Godmother, it's fine. It's like 40 minutes. I mean, there's probably better things to watch, but you could do a lot worse.
[19:30] Jess McAnally: Like, I don't know. You know, if you really like Halloween puns and you don't want to watch a horror movie for whatever reason, here you go. Here's your 2003 animation and Halloween puns.
[19:45] Andrew DeWolf: I think we should have a shared cheese rating, because there's only one that's worth having, and that's Gorgonzola.
[19:51] Jess McAnally: Yeah, you're probably right on that.
[19:53] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, I was going to say a cheese stick shaped like a spider, but Gorgonzola's probably more accurate.
[19:59] Jess McAnally: Does anyone else want to give their thoughts, or did I cover everybody?
[20:02] Andrew DeWolf: I feel like you summed up my thoughts pretty well.
[20:05] Jess McAnally: Watch it. It's 45 minutes. It's fine. It's not great, but if you've got 45 minutes, just watch it. Watch it with your kids.
[20:10] Andrew DeWolf: If you've got kids, or, you know, a spouse that has nostalgia.
[20:15] Jess McAnally: Or a cousin you're dragging to a party.
[20:18] Andrew DeWolf: Like, watch it.
[20:20] Jess McAnally: Or an attractive cousin.
[20:21] Andrew DeWolf: Alright, let's go into the mid-show.
[20:30] Jess McAnally: Hey guys! Sorry to interrupt you in the middle of the show, but we've got a show for you. Today's show is brought to you by the extremely kind donations by our donors over at Patreon.

[22:26] Jess McAnally: And we thank you!
[22:27] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, we love you guys. Here's a kiss from me to you.
[22:30] Jess McAnally: How about we get back to the show!
[22:35] Andrew DeWolf: Scary Godmother the Revenge of Jimmy is a film written by Ian Boothby and Jill Thompson, directed by Ezekiel Norton, based on the second book in Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother series of the same name, which was released in 1998.
[22:57] Jess McAnally: It premiered on August 29th, 2005 on DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment, and aired on Cartoon Network on October 7th at 7.30pm, and re-aired on the network that month five times.
[23:12] Andrew DeWolf: October 7th, October 10th, October 18th, October 30th, and 31st.
[23:17] Jess McAnally: I probably watched three out of those five times.
[23:21] Andrew DeWolf: It's wacky, because they would air back-to-back with the other ones, so so much Scary Godmother on the airwaves.
[23:27] Jess McAnally: The plot of Scary Godmother 2 The Revenge of Jimmy is, Hannah must stop Jimmy from erasing Halloween from the calendar for good!
[23:34] Andrew DeWolf: Scary Godmother prepares for Halloween, but with disastrous results!
[23:39] Jess McAnally: This is really a Godfather 2 to the Godfather of the Scary Godmothers.
[23:45] Andrew DeWolf: They took the Halloween puns and they kept them from the first one, and then they decided, let's also do a shit-ton of references to other things.
[23:54] Jess McAnally: And so they did that too.
[23:57] Andrew DeWolf: And I love it!
[23:59] Jess McAnally: How many things can we name that they referenced?
[24:02] Andrew DeWolf: The Grinch.
[24:03] Jess McAnally: The Grinch is the obvious one.
[24:05] Andrew DeWolf: I caught Wizard of Oz definitely, I think, twice.
[24:09] Jess McAnally: What else? Oh my goodness, there is definitely more.
[24:14] Andrew DeWolf: My memory is so bad, I don't remember anything specific.
[24:19] Jess McAnally: I don't remember anything.
[24:21] Andrew DeWolf: There is definitely more.
[24:23] Jess McAnally: There's definitely more!
[24:24] Andrew DeWolf: I cannot conjure it! I think it's cute. I think it's great. I remember the line, game over, man, game over, from Aliens. Aliens, yeah, that was a good one. Aliens, yeah. The Bible is referenced. Jimmy's still dressed like Satan. That was in the first one. We're not going to count that one. That's in the first one, so not really, but okay. We're not going to count that one. Yeah. Significant improvement. What's the plot of this one, Andrew? Okay, so you know how in Toy Story 2, they never bring up the fact that Sid is now fucked up for life and now is scared of all of his toys? Well, they did move away, so. He is also a garbage man in the fourth one. We never get to see the aftermath of that, but here, they're like, no, no, no, Jimmy's fucked, and that's the plot.
That's the plot. Jimmy is petrified that the monsters are going to come back and fucking eat him, and frankly, he should be. He wants to stop Halloween at all costs, and realistically, what that entails is he just tries to ruin Halloween for his friends, and we also discover in this special that the Fright Side is held together with duct tape and string. It will cease to exist if one person's Halloween doesn't go perfectly well. You know, that sounds a lot like the American politics system at the moment.
[26:03] Jess McAnally: Yeah. A lot of voice actors changed this time around, but the good ones stuck around. Jimmy somehow got younger between films.
[26:09] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, I looked up the voice actor who took over is actually in the first Hunger Games movie.
[26:16] Jess McAnally: Jimmy grew up to be a murderer, I knew it.
[26:19] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, well, yeah. It only took so long before he learned to kill. He's also a lone survivor with Mark Wahlberg.
[26:25] Jess McAnally: Oh, Mark Wahlberg, a guy that definitely does not have a hate crime section of his Wikipedia page.
[26:31] Andrew DeWolf: Definitely not, no.
[26:31] Jess McAnally: We love Mark Wahlberg here.
[26:35] Andrew DeWolf: We love Mark Wahlberg here at the Cheese Meal.
[26:37] Jess McAnally: Yeah, yeah, we support everything he's ever believed in, and I think that he has some great political views. He should start a political podcast.
[26:44] Andrew DeWolf: No.
[26:47] Jess McAnally: That'd be awful. I just don't know what they're talking about up there in D.C., man. I don't understand.
[26:56] Andrew DeWolf: A true Bostonian. Jimmy is specifically terrified about Bugaboo, because as we learned in the first one, Bugaboo regularly scares Jimmy. Like, that's part of his route.
[27:05] Jess McAnally: Yes, because he works at the Monsters Incorporated factory, except for the one for the beds. Bugaboo's an under-the-bed monster.
[27:14] Andrew DeWolf: He does not look like he would fit there. Even when he and Hannah are under the bed, it makes no sense. The logistics of it is terrible. It's basically just Jimmy trying to do the Grinch for Halloween, where it's like, oh, costumes! I'll destroy all the costumes! Yeah! Oh, candy! We'll destroy all the candy! Yeah! And he does that a bunch of times, but Hannah finds bullshit-ass ways to back out of it.
[27:47] Jess McAnally: He just commits a bunch of crimes, too. He smashes every pumpkin at what I assume is a pumpkin patch, where they sell the pumpkins for money. So he just vandalizes all of that and destroys all their property. And then he goes into a grocery store, I assume when they're not open, and vandalizes all their candy and says it's filled with poison, so they can't sell it. These are deeply illegal things, I'm pretty sure.
[28:15] Andrew DeWolf: Also, is that the town's only grocery store? Wouldn't there be, like, two?
[28:20] Jess McAnally: He did it at every grocery store. Also, this grocery store also sells Halloween costumes, as well.
[28:27] Andrew DeWolf: I mean, most Walmarts sell Halloween costumes.
[28:31] Jess McAnally: That's true, but this did not look like a Walmart. I like that he drew in marker that the costumes were flammable, so you couldn't sell them.
[28:37] Andrew DeWolf: You couldn't wear them! It's like, all costumes are flammable. They're made of cloth. I just love that every time that Halloween stops existing, it just erases itself from the calendar and becomes November 1st. That's, like, a great bit.
[28:54] Jess McAnally: It's a good gag, and I like the fact that every single time anything even remotely bad happens to Halloween, all of the bright side just ceases to exist. Literally just becomes a void. It's just so insane. Should we talk about the werewolf's indentured servitude because of his actions in the last movie?
[29:19] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, so we should talk about Harry in general. Harry is a piece of shit who fucks up their party in the first movie by eating all the food and being obnoxious generally. So in the second one, he's a slave because he ate all the pizza.
[29:35] Jess McAnally: Well, he ordered to- that's not that he ate all the pizza, he ordered, like, way too many pizzas and they couldn't afford them, so they had to take money off of Bugaboo's ass to pay for it.
[29:45] Andrew DeWolf: True, and also he ate all the food previous to that as well. So he was going to eat all the food and then eat all the pizza even though he didn't pay for any of it or make any of it. So basically he's just a party crasher who fucking sucks and everyone hates him. He also sounds- he's also the most obnoxious type of British- sorry, Andrew, I just wanted to point out the British thing. He's a character that shouldn't exist and I think that they thought he was the funniest character, so of course he's the narrator of the second movie.
[30:17] Jess McAnally: I do kind of like the bit where he thinks that Scary Godmother is dead and he's excited because he doesn't have to be a slave anymore.
[30:24] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, which really just goes to show that he doesn't like them and they don't like him, why the fuck- if he wasn't one of the five residents of the Frightside, there's no way they'd invite him to the Halloween party.
[30:39] Jess McAnally: I love seeing Harry get comeuppance, like, I'd rather him be, you know, roasted at the stake, but it is nice to watch him, like, have to suffer for his actions though. The other plotline that the Frightside characters get besides their ceasing to exist in Harry's nonsense is Orson is being forced to wear some King of Darkness outfit for some shit and he really doesn't want to because it's embarrassing, he wants to be a cowboy.
[31:16] Andrew DeWolf: Which is more embarrassing. I got- he's very funny when he dresses up as a cowboy though.
[31:22] Jess McAnally: He is funny. Like, I love it. And, you know, that wraps itself up by, you know, Hannah basically being like, you know, cowboys are badass.
[31:32] Andrew DeWolf: Hannah's a total Mary Sue, she just shows up and solves everyone's problems and everyone loves her.
[31:37] Jess McAnally: Yeah, your point?
[31:39] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, so, it's for children. There's no point, I'm just memeing.
[31:43] Jess McAnally: I mean, if you predicate that on the fact that everyone fucking hated her, which got her in that position, you're kind of overcorrecting it, you know?
[31:52] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, you're right, you're right. Because, like, everyone fucking hated her in the first one and then everyone's like, oh, Jimmy's alt-right now, we can hang out with his cousin now. Jimmy's watching Ben Shapiro in his room, we gotta hang out with his little cousin. Jimmy's locked up in his room reading about how illegal monsters are coming over and stealing all of our Halloween candy. They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats. They're eating the kids. They're eating the candy. We have to close the border to the fright side.
[32:21] Jess McAnally: Andrew, I know it was early when I sent you this, and it's not related to Scary Godmother, but you saw that Ben Shapiro's writing a musical, right?
[32:29] Andrew DeWolf: This I swear by the stars!
[32:36] Jess McAnally: Yeah, I'm sorry, but that looks like it's probably, like, Israeli propaganda.
[32:41] Andrew DeWolf: Yes, it does. Oh, great. I don't think that's something we can cover here, but it doesn't look good.
[32:46] Jess McAnally: Nope, but it is weird that it's happening.
[32:49] Andrew DeWolf: I'd rather die. Speaking of rather dying, how about we compare our opinions to those of the folks over on Letterboxd.com again! It's Previews, part two! In case you missed the first half, somehow, this is a game where I read real Letterboxd reviews, say Andrew and Liz, and they have to guess whether they're a one-star or five-star based on nothing but the review alone.
[33:10] Jess McAnally: I can see one of you has clicked onto the review section. Could you not have done that?
[33:13] Andrew DeWolf: Oh, I wasn't looking at it.
[33:17] Liz Esten: I wasn't looking at it, either. You can trust me.
[33:20] Andrew DeWolf: Um, alright! Andrew's cheating!
[33:22] Liz Esten: I would never cheat.
[33:24] Andrew DeWolf: Andrew's cheating! He's got that Mark Wahlberg look in his eye.
[33:29] Liz Esten: I would never cheat.
[33:32] Jess McAnally: Liz, you're first.
[33:33] Liz Esten: Great. When I was eight, I thought Jimmy turning into the actual devil was so deep. His face matches who he is on the inside now.
[33:42] Andrew DeWolf: Yo, kid! Fucking same! Um, five.
[33:47] Liz Esten: That is correct!
[33:48] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah?
[33:49] Liz Esten: I'd love to kick Jimmy in the head. Just take a few steps, run up and catch him on the full force of my steel-capped toe under his chin. Send him flying through the air as he lies on the floor, coughing and wheezing and choking on his own blood. His jaw a mangled mess of bones detached from the rest of his skull. I stand over him and laugh wickedly. He looks up at me in fear and pain, his eyes searching, begging for mercy. He finds none. I raise my boots and stomp down, splitting his skull like a melon and finally ending his pathetic life.
[34:17] Jess McAnally: Why the fuck did you write self-insert fanfic on your letterboxd page?
[34:21] Andrew DeWolf: Oh my god, they were jerking off while writing that.
[34:24] Liz Esten: Oh, they were so hard. Um, yeah, five stars.
[34:28] Andrew DeWolf: That is a one.
[34:29] Liz Esten: Oh, I was close.
[34:31] Andrew DeWolf: I was close. Oh, they're masochistic.
[34:33] Liz Esten: Yes?
[34:34] Andrew DeWolf: 1325 NVM.
[34:38] Liz Esten: 1-3-2-5-N-V-M.
[34:42] Andrew DeWolf: Meaning never mind, or?
[34:44] Liz Esten: Never mind? I think so.
[34:46] Andrew DeWolf: Um, one?
[34:50] Liz Esten: That is correct!
[34:51] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah?
[34:52] Liz Esten: Watch the last 18 minutes.
[34:57] Andrew DeWolf: You skipped ahead?
[34:59] Liz Esten: Not the rest, though. I just skipped it. I assume they found it on television. I feel like most of the good stuff happens at the beginning, so I'm gonna say one on this one.
[35:09] Andrew DeWolf: That is correct!
[35:10] Liz Esten: Yes?
[35:12] Andrew DeWolf: Scary godmother feet!
[35:15] Liz Esten: Okay, calm down.
[35:17] Andrew DeWolf: True, though, and I noticed. I noticed. I took note.
[35:22] Liz Esten: I didn't.
[35:23] Andrew DeWolf: I did not notice.
[35:25] Liz Esten: Scary godmother is probably my wackiest hear-me-out.
[35:29] Andrew DeWolf: You didn't notice?
[35:30] Liz Esten: She was wearing those high stockings and they got stuck under the house, but she wasn't under the house.
[35:37] Andrew DeWolf: She wasn't wearing them.
[35:38] Liz Esten: Came out and, ooh, we got to see some skin! Here's the thing. I don't pay attention to animated women's feet all the time, and I may have checked out during that scene because of the feet.
[35:54] Andrew DeWolf: I'm so sorry, guys, to derail this, but I just googled it just because I was like, oh, I'm interested if someone screencapped that. They did not, but...
[36:04] Liz Esten: What did they do?
[36:06] Andrew DeWolf: I did find this image.
[36:07] Liz Esten: Oh, yeah.
[36:08] Andrew DeWolf: This is gonna give me an answer.
[36:10] Liz Esten: Oh my! Ew!
[36:11] Andrew DeWolf: No!
[36:15] Liz Esten: Damn, the feet are bigger than the head.
[36:17] Andrew DeWolf: You know what they say? That's nasty!
[36:19] Liz Esten: The proportions are wacky! Remember when Big Beak said, thank you for having Liz on the show because you don't show me gross things?
[36:25] Andrew DeWolf: Yeah, that's not true anymore.
[36:28] Liz Esten: It's not like a girl in the room suddenly makes us tighten you up. Anyway, that's a five because people are freaks.
[36:35] Andrew DeWolf: You are correct!
[36:37] Andrew: Yeah? Did you know there are- no, I don't. I'm gonna save that one for Liz. Um... Oh, I'm sorry. Jigsaw should put Jimmy in a reverse bear trap. FRFR.
[36:47] Jess: What? I hate Jimmy so fucking much. No, no, Jigsaw should be in the twirly- no, Jimmy should be in the twirly limbs trap from Saw 4 that twirls your whole head and your arms and your limbs. Yeah.
[36:58] Andrew: Wasn't that like an unbeatable trap? I wouldn't-
[37:00] Jess: It was an unbeatable trap, yes.
[37:02] Andrew: Oh my god. At least give Jimmy a way out, my god. The poor guy.
[37:10] Jess: Yeah, that's a- that's a 1.
[37:13] Andrew: That's a 5.
[37:14] Jess: Motherfucker. Saw fans are freaks.
[37:18] Liz: Yes? Did you know there are exactly 14 fanfiction of the Scary Godmother on AO3?
[37:25] Andrew: Now I wanna read them.
[37:27] Liz: I hope they're not horny.
[37:29] Andrew: They 100% are.
[37:31] Jess: I know they are. I'm actually gonna look this up when we're done recording. Uh, 5.
[37:35] Andrew: That is a 1. Andrew!
[37:37] Andrew: Yeah?
[37:39] Jess: Bruh. Fuck Harry. Fuck Jimmy. We only stance Bugaboo and Skelly.
[37:43] Andrew: I mean, that's just correct.
[37:45] Jess: Yeah, there's literally never been anything more true said than that.
[37:49] Andrew: I stance Skelly.
[37:51] Jess: Uh, 5.
[37:53] Andrew: That is incorrect, Andrew.
[37:55] Jess: And I'm sorry, Liz kicked your ass this time.
[37:57] Liz: I did?
[37:59] Jess: Um, alright, you guys, this has been a blast. I love- I love this shit. Like, this is my shit. Like, this is the kind of stuff that this show is made for and that I love talking about.
[38:09] Andrew: I- I- You know what this show needed, just to push it?
[38:13] Jess: I think there should've been full 60 minute episodes.
[38:17] Andrew: Like, and they should've had songs.
[38:19] Jess: With themes. I think there should've been-
[38:23] Andrew: No.
[38:25] Jess: I think there should've just been, like, one song in each. Like, not even, like, a proper, like, musical. There just should've been, like, one fun song in both of them.
[38:31] Andrew: And neither of them had that.
[38:33] Jess: And I feel like if they had, these would've been classics.
[38:35] Andrew: You mean, like, a dance musical and everything?
[38:37] Jess: Or, like, an opening song that, like, sets you up for the rest of it?
[38:41] Andrew: I think either could've worked.
[38:43] Jess: Like, I- I truly just feel like we need, like, some kind of song thing to get us into the mood, or to wrap us all up, or to be in the middle of it. I feel like this is a world that needs to be singing, and it is not singing.
[38:55] Andrew: Yeah, I can see it.
[38:58] Jess: They did the same dance scene in both specials, though.
[39:00] Andrew: They did.
[39:02] Jess: It was the same exact song.
[39:04] Andrew: Everyone loved it the first time.
[39:06] Jess: It's kind of a sick song.
[39:10] Andrew: It's very, like, surf bros in the 60s.
[39:14] Jess: Surfer culture music. They did add more people to the second time, though, because they had the other kids join in as well, and Jimmy was kind of there.
[39:22] Andrew: Even though Katie kept, like, ruining Halloween by saying, and then everything explodes.
[39:28] Jess: Yeah, actually, Katie was- She's the fabric that holds the Frightside together. If her Halloween isn't going well, it's over.
[39:36] Andrew: As soon as Katie's in peril, the Frightside goes to shit.
[39:42] Jess: We didn't talk about the snack segment in either, and I do kind of want to bring those up.
[39:46] Andrew: I was gonna bring that up. Which one looked better? Because they're both kind of shitty.
[39:52] Jess: I kind of forget what the first one was.
[39:54] Andrew: The second one was like a smore.
[39:56] Jess: A microwave smore.
[39:58] Andrew: Yeah, the first one was like a peanut butter cracker thing that you shove into Harry's mouth.
[40:02] Jess: Oh, it's like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on a cracker to get Harry to shut the fuck up.
[40:06] Andrew: Yeah.
[40:08] Jess: I mostly remember that because they used it to make Harry shut the fuck up, but I couldn't remember what it was.
[40:14] Andrew: The second one, though, I definitely remember. That was like a little- It's like a ghost on a piece of chocolate, and you put it in the microwave and make a smore.
[40:22] Jess: Yeah, but it's not a smore. I looked at it, and I'm like, how would you eat that? What is the practical way to eat that? How would you send that off for trick-or-treaters?
[40:30] Andrew: Well, also, like, you shouldn't microwave a marshmallow.
[40:34] Jess: What?
[40:36] Andrew: Because if it goes on a little too long, it might explode.
[40:40] Jess: Yeah, that's the fun part. You want to watch it get all big and stuff.
[40:42] Andrew: I know, but you don't want it to get so big it literally fucks up your mom's microwave, and then she's going, Jess, why the fuck did you microwave a marshmallow for a whole ass minute?
[40:56] Jess: The people that made Scary Godmother do not give a shit what happens to your mom's microwave. I'm sorry. I hope she fucking dies. Jill Thompson said that.
[41:02] Andrew: I'm going to say the second one definitely looks like it would be better because it's literally just a microwave smore. That's all it is.
[41:10] Jess: Yeah. Also, you draw a little face on the ghost before you put it in the microwave, and then you just, like, crush it with a cracker, so there's no point.
[41:16] Andrew: They told you to be careful not to lose your toothpick in the Hershey syrup.
[41:20] Jess: Yeah, but not to be careful microwaving your marshmallow. No, no, no. That's fine.
[41:24] Andrew: Liz, I think you're projecting here, and honestly, it's making me uncomfortable.
[41:30] Liz: Sorry, I watch a lot of food safety videos on YouTube, so, like, I actually think about this shit. I watch a whole video about how you can't poach eggs in the microwave, or you'll get, like, second, third degree burns on your body when the water explodes.
[41:44] Jess: Sorry, I'm ruining the vibes. I'll just leave. Bye!
[41:48] Andrew: Let's destroy all of our microwaves. What is the cheese rating, you guys, that you recommend to our audience eating?
[41:56] Jess: So, I'm gonna do what I always do at parties where they have snacks out, which is you grab two different types of cheeses that they have in little slices, and you grab two different types of crackers that they have out next to those slices, and you put them together with a piece of pepperoni that they also usually have out, and you put the pepperoni between the two slices of cheese, and then put all that between the two crackers. And it makes for a great snack that really goes well at most parties, and I think that you could make it for your Halloween party. Did I do that right? Also, Scary Godmother 2 is better. The Revenge of Jimmy is better. This is the one to watch. You watch the first one as a prequel to this one, essentially.
[42:36] Andrew: I did watch this one first.
[42:38] Jess: Yeah. There you go. This is the more fun one. Jimmy is a more interesting character. Everyone is given more to do. And it's funny watching the fright side disappear, like, 5 times in 40 minutes.
[42:54] Andrew: And don't forget Scary Godmother's feet.
[42:56] Jess: Oh my god, the feet, bro. Okay, guys, you're being horny on me. You're being horny on me! All 15 pixels that went into animating your feet. You're being horny on me!
[43:10] Liz: What about you?
[43:12] Jess: Okay, so here's my Halloween snack. You get some good white bread, get some good American cheese, and you make a nice little grilled cheese. And then, you get a little, you get some fun Halloween cutters from your local craft store or whatever, and then you cut the grilled cheese out in fun little shapes. And then you serve that, cause it's cute. I was gonna do a bowl of cheeses, but I decided to not be lazy.
[43:34] Andrew: So, anyway, fun Halloween grilled cheese. You can use, like, dark cheese or dark bread if you want to be extra spooky. But, you know, do what you want. Do your preferred cheese.
[43:44] Liz: Um, Trench Jimmy, uh, fucking slaps. My best friend has a screenshot of this movie as their profile picture on Twitter. So whenever I see this movie, I think about them.
[43:54] Andrew: What profile picture is it?
[43:56] Liz: Uh, it's Jimmy looking scary as fuck in the devil costume with his fucked up face.
[44:00] Andrew: Yeah, that makes sense.
[44:02] Liz: Yeah, um, yeah. Shout out to my best friend. Uh, you're great. Uh, but yeah, I love this movie. It's great. Uh, watch it. Uh, maybe not at your Halloween party, but just watch it. It's fun. Watch it with your kids. You know what? I think when it gets way too late, this is the thing you turn on to kind of clear the house. Like, people will stand around and watch it, but you can still kind of clean.
[44:24] Andrew: Yeah, while Andrew's eating his cheese sandwiches in the corner.
[44:26] Liz: Exactly. Um, I had a blast watching both of these. Like, this was fun nostalgia for me, and I liked how short it was. Both of these went by like a breeze and were very painless.
[44:36] Jess: Um, my cheese rating and my cheese snack that I would recommend you for these ooky spooky holiday times is, uh, a slice of Swiss cheese, because it kind of looks like the Charlie Brown ghost costume. I love how Andrew and I, like, made a dish, and you're like, Swiss cheese.
[44:50] Andrew: I swear to God, like, I will just not eat dinner and just have, like, two slices of Swiss cheese, and that'll be my dinner.
[44:56] Jess: That's not dinner, Jess. That's healthy.
[45:00] Andrew: That's not dinner. You gotta eat more food.
[45:02] Jess: It's called girl dinner.
[45:04] Andrew: I know what girl dinner is.
[45:06] Jess: It's actually called boy dinner.
[45:08] Andrew: That's boy dinner in that case. Boy dinner is when you eat nothing but two slices of fat.
[45:14] Jess: Or a beef stick and call it a day.
[45:16] Andrew: I eat a beef stick, babe. It's my dinner.
[45:20] Jess: I had a protein shake, and that was my food.
[45:24] Andrew: Babe, that's not dinner.
[45:26] Jess: It's called bodysmorphia, but we call it grind set. The grind?
[45:30] Andrew: Speaking of grinding, thank you guys for listening to this show all the way through. Please, if you can, leave us a review on Apple Podcast. We are technically a new show, so if you're liking what we're doing, let us know. If you don't like what we're doing, we also would like to know how we can change it to make it better for you. [45:52] Jess: If you're not leaving an iTunes review right now, I'm gonna be really sad.
[45:56] Andrew: If you're driving, please don't leave an iTunes review. Drive safely.

Thank you to the Broadway Podcast Network for having us on the platform and for not kicking us off for talking so much about it. Alright, anything else we have left to say before we wrap it up?
[46:40] Jess: We gotta spin it, baby.
[46:44] Andrew: We gotta spin the wheel, baby! Oh, yes!
[46:48] Jess: Alright, so, I gotta get the wheel. I gotta get the wheel!
[46:52] Andrew: Oh, God! Get the fucking... Get the wheel, man! Where is it?
[46:56] Jess: Do we have any predictions of what it could be?
[46:58] Andrew: I think we're gonna cover...
[47:00] Jess: I think we're covering Joker 2.
[47:02] Andrew: Oh, no.
[47:04] Jess: No? Sorry, guys. I'm not brave enough for that.
[47:06] Andrew: I'm gonna put it on my list with some B.O.D. Maybe one day.
[47:10] Jess: Send in the clowns, baby. Here we go.
[47:12] Andrew: Send in the motherfucking clowns.
[47:14] Jess: Send in the clowns.
[47:16] Andrew: Here it is. We're about to spin the wheel. Are we ready?
[47:18] Jess: I'm ready. Let's go!
[47:20] Andrew: And it's spinning!
[47:22] Jess: Man, look at it go!
[47:24] Andrew: It's so shiny! Jess, did you clean it?
[47:26] Jess: I did. I've been waxing my wheel all night. It's pretty well waxed. Very shiny.
[47:32] Andrew: It's still going.
[47:34] Jess: And, oh my God! This is a first.
[47:38] Andrew: A cheese wheel first.
[47:40] Jess: What? It is stuck between two choices, which means we have to cover them both.
[47:46] Andrew: Choice one is Liz's choice, which is Late Night with the Devil, the horror film released just earlier this year.
[47:54] Jess: And then the other one is my choice of the WNUF Halloween special.
[48:00] Andrew: So I guess we're gonna have to cover them both and maybe do a comparison. Are they similar?
[48:04] Jess: Ironically, they are very similar and worth comparing.
[48:08] Andrew: Yeah. Okay. It's almost like we planned this. It's almost like we discussed this many months ago when I said I saw Late Night with the Devil and he said, you should watch this instead.
[48:16] Jess: Yeah, and also this was one of the other Patreon choices that I just kinda liked.
[48:22] Andrew: I just stole it. I was like, yeah, that's a good idea. If you're excited for that as we are, come back next week and we'll be talking about the WNUF Halloween special and Late Night with the Devil on the Cheese Wheel podcast. We'll see you next time, guys.
