[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.
[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.
[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.
[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
[0:32] Andrew: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
[0:56] Andrew: Hey guys, it's me, Andrew. I'm going to further along the process of finding the best song on Glee.
[1:10] Andrew: And guess what? I have some breaking news. We are now part of the Broadway Podcast Network.
[1:15] Andrew: Random alert! Really crazy.
[1:20] Andrew: But we're one big step closer to getting Miss Lea Michele onto the podcast.
[1:26] Andrew: Once she sees that we're part of the Broadway Podcast Network, she's going to be like, oh, I need to Glacket.
[1:31] Andrew: So, yeah, it doesn't change anything for you listening, but it changes things for Lea Michele and prospective podcasts that she may come on.
[1:40] Andrew: But Lea Michele's not on this week. You know what? We got two people that are so much better than her. Flop.
[1:48] Andrew: We have, ladies first, Claudia. Hey!
[1:52] Claudia: Hi! That's so exciting.
[1:54] Claudia: Oh my God, thank you.
[1:56] Claudia: I think that's huge. If she doesn't come on with that, she's doing a bad press tour for Chess.
[2:04] Claudia: Oh, I know. I'm just like...
[2:06] Claudia: Get your act together, girl.
[2:08] Claudia: Girl, let's go. And they have a studio in Midtown that I can use.
[2:13] Claudia: Wait, this is so exciting. Andrew, congrats.
[2:15] Claudia: Very, very exciting.
[2:17] Claudia: I can't believe you just revealed that to us live on the air.
[2:19] Andrew: I've been really working in silence the past month on this. But, yeah, thanks.
[2:25] Andrew: And Patrick is also here. Hey!
[2:29] Patrick: Hey!
[2:31] Patrick: Yeah, that is really exciting. Can you have guests come to the thing with you and record? Maybe I'll actually come to New York and visit you.
[2:39] Andrew: I'm not sure how this studio actually works. It just has been through conversations of the people at Broadway Podcast Network.
[2:47] Andrew: All delightful people.
[2:49] Andrew: And that was one of the things that they were like, oh, those are one of the benefits.
[2:53] Claudia: This is so exciting.
[2:55] Claudia: People forget that this podcast is a pretty big deal.
[2:57] Claudia: I was with my friends this morning and I was saying, oh, I'm going to be on that Glee podcast again.
[3:02] Claudia: And they're like, how many people actually listen to that?
[3:07] Claudia: It has thousands of followers on Instagram.
[3:10] Claudia: I literally asked Andrew for that stat to give my mom once and she was really excited.
[3:14] Claudia: I won't reveal, but I was looking at how many people are subscribed to the Patreon and it's so many.
[3:20] Claudia: I was like, damn.
[3:22] Andrew: Patreon bug.
[3:24] Andrew: If you're not on Patreon, join.
[3:26] Andrew: The two of you made very small debuts initially and then grew to be these really world-famous Gleeks.
[3:37] Patrick: It's a conspiracy and it is because we've been working at it together.
[3:42] Patrick: And we are the biggest ship on Gleek of the Week podcast.
[3:48] Claudia: I'm so excited to talk to you again, baby.
[3:50] Patrick: Are people really shipping Clatric like that?
[3:53] Claudia: No, we just start with each other, I think.
[3:55] Claudia: Not romantically, but it could be.
[3:57] Claudia: I'm excited because I was thinking about the only other time that I've recorded with Claudia.
[4:05] Patrick: It was the day after the election.
[4:07] Patrick: It was a week after the election and I had a really bad cold.
[4:17] Claudia: And then my mom came to my apartment in the middle of it.
[4:20] Patrick: Yes, I remember this.
[4:22] Patrick: I don't know if that was in the episode, though.
[4:24] Claudia: Oh my god, that was crazy.
[4:26] Claudia: And that was the first time we'd ever spoken.
[4:28] Claudia: And I was like, are you okay?
[4:32] Claudia: Your mom just showed up.
[4:34] Patrick: Oh my god, this is amazing.
[4:35] Patrick: And now so many good things are happening.
[4:37] Patrick: We're on each other's close friends' stories.
[4:39] Claudia: And I think that also had a really iconic episode title.
[4:43] Claudia: What was it?
[4:45] Patrick: Don't Wear Your...
[4:47] Claudia: Oh, Wear Your Uniform.
[4:49] Claudia: That's a funny one.
[4:51] Claudia: I liked that episode a lot.
[4:53] Claudia: What I want to do as we're nearing the end is just to almost do a dramatic reading of every single title.
[5:03] Patrick: They need to be highlighted.
[5:07] Claudia: This is actually really exciting because I was hoping that I could announce my new podcast,
[5:11] Claudia: which is Finding the Best Title of Episode of Week of the Week Podcast.
[5:19] Claudia: It's actually going to be a system.
[5:21] Claudia: I don't know if you're familiar with it.
[5:23] Claudia: It's going to be like a bracket.
[5:25] Andrew: On the Broadway Podcast Network?
[5:28] Claudia: Every episode, we're going to read just two titles.
[5:30] Claudia: And then talk about them for 90 minutes to three hours.
[5:35] Patrick: What are some really iconic ones that come to mind?
[5:37] Claudia: When I think of really good titles from the Week of the Week pod,
[5:41] Claudia: I think of Curling Kitty.
[5:43] Patrick: That's a personal favorite of mine.
[5:45] Claudia: Curling Kitty, that's great.
[5:47] Claudia: That was one of your episodes?
[5:49] Patrick: No, it wasn't.
[5:51] Patrick: No, that was a live episode.
[5:53] Patrick: Adam, who I've since met in person, he coined that one.
[5:58] Claudia: And that's what you really miss.
[6:00] Claudia: I say that all the time.
[6:02] Claudia: Every time I have to say it, I'm like, I don't want that one.
[6:04] Patrick: Of the ones I've been on,
[6:06] Patrick: my favorites were Keeping My Quolo and A Bleak Week.
[6:10] Claudia: I love Miseducation of Andrew McGuire.
[6:14] Claudia: When I saw that, I was really excited.
[6:16] Patrick: That one's good.
[6:18] Patrick: And that was a good episode.
[6:20] Patrick: I love Wicked Part 2, Part 3.
[6:22] Claudia: Wait, I can never say that though.
[6:24] Claudia: Again, I don't know what it is.
[6:27] Claudia: I don't know what it's supposed to be.
[6:29] Patrick: But yeah, I didn't want to say that.
[6:31] Patrick: But I do love Wicked Part 2, Part 3.
[6:33] Patrick: It doesn't make any sense.
[6:35] Claudia: I don't know what it means.
[6:37] Claudia: Miners Watch Out.
[6:39] Patrick: Miners Watch Out is great.
[6:41] Patrick: That's like a whole subset of Gleeks now.
[6:43] Claudia: The Miners.
[6:45] Claudia: Do you know that Miners listen to Gleeks of the Week?
[6:47] Patrick: Wait.
[6:49] Claudia: Laissez Faire Gleek.
[6:51] Patrick: Merrily We Roll Away.
[6:53] Patrick: Robert Ulrich, Gleek Casting Director interview.
[6:55] Claudia: Oh.
[6:57] Claudia: Yeah, I remember listening to that episode
[6:59] Claudia: and I was like, wow, we don't say anything
[7:01] Claudia: that is kind of...
[7:03] Patrick: That might be the worst.
[7:05] Claudia: Glitter is Glee Litter.
[7:07] Patrick: That's good.
[7:09] Patrick: Yeah, I'm keeping my Quolo.
[7:11] Claudia: Yeah, I like that.
[7:13] Claudia: Beth is a Faceless Entity.
[7:15] Patrick: That is good. I really like that one.
[7:17] Patrick: That takes the cake, maybe.
[7:19] Patrick: It gets really weird going further back.
[7:24] Claudia: It was kind of weird.
[7:26] Patrick: Oh, yeah.
[7:28] Patrick: It's like the ones that exist now are a very specific time-tested formula that I could never explain.
[7:36] Claudia: It's just like a secret sauce.
[7:38] Claudia: I don't know where it came from, but the beginning ones are like...
[7:42] Patrick: Most people could just kind of pick one of these.
[7:44] Claudia: That's not true.
[7:46] Claudia: I'm looking at one that says Schrodinger's Glee, so I don't know what I'm talking about, but I don't know.
[7:53] Patrick: Quinn for Bright Representation.
[7:55] Claudia: So they're a little literal.
[7:57] Patrick: Mike Dacheng.
[7:59] Claudia: Mike Dacheng is really good.
[8:01] Patrick: That's a great debut.
[8:03] Patrick: Great pilot.
[8:05] Patrick: The episode itself might have not been that strong, but the title.
[8:09] Claudia: Come on, now.
[8:11] Claudia: I would listen to your podcast, Claudia.
[8:13] Claudia: This was fun.
[8:15] Patrick: Yeah, we already got it in about five minutes of it, so it's not too bad.
[8:19] Patrick: I have a Gloismail, and also we of course need to talk about Glockic grievances.
[8:23] Claudia: What do we want to do first?
[8:25] Patrick: Stealer's Choice.
[8:27] Claudia: Gloismail, because I already forgot what my grievances are.
[8:31] Patrick: Do you want me to remind you to grievance?
[8:35] Claudia: Grievance while we Gloismail.
[8:37] Patrick: That's a good...
[8:39] Claudia: I did my grievances at like five minutes before we started. I was like, oh god.
[8:43] Claudia: I was like sweating.
[8:45] Patrick: I'm pulling it up. I'm sweating right now.
[8:47] Patrick: My shirt's like soaked through, so mad.
[8:51] Patrick: It's actually fine.
[8:53] Patrick: Here's the Gloismail.
[8:55] Patrick: This is Joseph from round two, the proud father of Love Shack.
[8:59] Patrick: When I heard about his sudden death in round three, I had to grieve him properly by doing a full series rewatch.
[9:05] Patrick: When I hit season six, this question kept coming up in my head.
[9:09] Patrick: How did the Dolphin Academy burn to the ground?
[9:13] Patrick: We always hear about it, but why?
[9:15] Patrick: Did it lose in round three and now it's in hell?
[9:19] Patrick: Well, I put on my detective pageboy hat like Marley and I got to work.
[9:23] Patrick: I suppose the how is pretty easy.
[9:25] Patrick: Those Warblers love aerosol hairspray, so Dolphin Academy is flammable at all times, pretty much.
[9:31] Patrick: So now the question is, who would want to burn down the school and why?
[9:37] Patrick: There I was near my corkboard at 2 a.m. and it finally hit me.
[9:41] Patrick: Kitty Wild.
[9:43] Patrick: Kitty Wild burned down the Dolphin Academy.
[9:45] Patrick: Yep, it's time for some Kitty discourse.
[9:47] Patrick: So first of all, why would she do that?
[9:51] Patrick: One thing we know about Miss Wild is that she likes to win.
[9:55] Patrick: She's a prize cheerio.
[9:57] Patrick: She won regionals last year.
[9:59] Patrick: She was the president of the Left Behind Club.
[10:01] Patrick: She was the only one to survive the culling of Sue in season six.
[10:05] Patrick: Kitty Wild. So now she has a new mission.
[10:07] Patrick: Make New Directions the most winning glee club.
[10:11] Patrick: Now getting rid of the competition is a great step, but how can she win without a group of the best?
[10:17] Patrick: When she looks around the choir room, all she sees is some incest twins, a postmodern gay, Billy Eilish's brother, a 13-year-old kid.
[10:27] Patrick: Not good enough.
[10:29] Patrick: So not only does she need to remove the threat, she needs them to join her.
[10:33] Patrick: She looks into her locker and inspiration strikes.
[10:37] Patrick: WWQFD.
[10:39] Patrick: What would Quinn Fabray do?
[10:41] Patrick: Now Kitty watched the Purple Piano Project.
[10:43] Patrick: She was there for season three, so she knows fire is the answer.
[10:47] Patrick: How does she do it?
[10:49] Patrick: But don't you forget that Kitty Wild is a master strategist.
[10:53] Patrick: She orchestrated the blame proposal last year, just in case she ever needed the information.
[10:59] Patrick: Help? More like help me find the schematics of the school.
[11:05] Patrick: Okay, Beatles?
[11:07] Patrick: And just like that, the Dalton Academy burned to the ground.
[11:11] Patrick: The Warblers joined New Directions, they go on to win nationals, the school becomes a performing arts school, Mr. Shue gets his new job, Rachel gets inspired to return to Broadway, gets her Tony, and why does all of that stuff happen?
[11:25] Patrick: Because of Kitty Wild.
[11:27] Claudia: That's so iconic. Thank you so much, Joseph.
[11:31] Claudia: That's perfect. That's totally perfect.
[11:33] Claudia: I have so many thoughts, questions.
[11:37] Claudia: I was already taking a lot of notes, and we haven't even started glockening, so that feels good.
[11:41] Claudia: My notebook is full.
[11:43] Claudia: Okay, who wants to start the discourse on that song?
[11:51] Patrick: As soon as the voice started, I thought it was Abby with a voice modulator on. It sounded like Abby's voice, but taken down an octave.
[11:59] Claudia: Yeah.
[12:03] Claudia: Glee, I encourage you to re-listen to that and tell me if you agree.
[12:09] Claudia: Really interesting.
[12:11] Claudia: Something I did write down in all caps was Left Behind Club, and we're not really talking about that enough.
[12:15] Claudia: That, in and of itself, is a good motivator for arson and other kinds of violent crime.
[12:23] Patrick: Because that shit was crazy.
[12:25] Patrick: That shit was so wild. I feel like people are always like, I love the breakup episode, and then I'm always like, wait a minute, you need to consider the left behind scene. It's devastating.
[12:33] Claudia: It's so sad.
[12:35] Claudia: There was no other way to illustrate how Brittany felt to Santa.
[12:41] Claudia: It was a metaphor.
[12:45] Claudia: Open up a book.
[12:49] Claudia: No, but I really love the connection. I listened to this when I was in Paris, of course.
[12:57] Claudia: When I got home very, very late one night, and I saw that I got a notification that a new voicemail has entered the villa, and I listened to it.
[13:07] Claudia: I got a text, and I listened to it very early morning.
[13:15] Claudia: It was perfect. I love the hairspray connection with the fire.
[13:19] Claudia: I thought that was so smart.
[13:21] Claudia: In the Quinn, what would Quinn for Bray do?
[13:23] Claudia: Well scripted, also, that voicemail.
[13:25] Claudia: Very clearly well researched, well written.
[13:27] Claudia: I hope you get an A on your thesis.
[13:29] Patrick: Oh, I'm going to see it through.
[13:33] Patrick: I think I lost it a bit there, because when he said, what would Quinn for Bray do, I was thinking about how Quinn flicked the cigarette onto the piano.
[13:41] Claudia: Is that what he meant?
[13:43] Patrick: Yeah, that's what he meant.
[13:45] Patrick: Okay, okay, okay.
[13:47] Patrick: When he first said, I know who did it, I thought he was going to say one of us.
[13:53] Patrick: I thought he was going to be like, Casper King-Palladia, because we're not the biggest Twitter people.
[14:01] Patrick: I was happy that it wasn't us.
[14:03] Claudia: You know, Kitty Wild, that is good.
[14:05] Claudia: I thought that was really well thought out, agreed.
[14:09] Claudia: I don't know. It's kind of foolproof, bulletproof. There's no way to unpack it in a way to...
[14:15] Patrick: There's no holes in that. I think it's pretty clear.
[14:19] Patrick: But you know, it always did drive me crazy that multiple times in the series, they didn't have enough people for the Glee Club, and that was a central plot line in season one.
[14:29] Patrick: It kept happening over and over again, but it was never a big deal again.
[14:35] Patrick: It was like, we only have nine people going to nationals? We are not worried about it.
[14:41] Patrick: We're one week out.
[14:45] Patrick: We have to write original songs and love New York City.
[14:51] Claudia: Do they have everybody for that?
[14:53] Patrick: No, for season five nationals.
[14:55] Patrick: Season five, the three unnamed cheerios.
[14:57] Claudia: Iconic.
[14:59] Patrick: And the band members.
[15:01] Patrick: It's the same thing.
[15:03] Patrick: Kurt and Rachel are like, we only have seven kids. It's fine.
[15:07] Patrick: It was never a plot point to get more people.
[15:09] Patrick: So I'm glad that Joseph filled in the thing that was always in the back of my head, which is like, how did that happen? That's kind of convenient.
[15:19] Patrick: I just know it was now plot-driven.
[15:21] Claudia: Finally, we're vindicated.
[15:23] Claudia: We're vindicated for this discrepancy.
[15:25] Claudia: I do want to point attention to when Lindsay Heather Pierce was, of course, on this very podcast, me and Allison revealed to her that Dalton Academy did burn to the ground when talking about the performance Rather Be.
[15:39] Claudia: And we did also come up with a theory, well, Lindsay did, that Harmony was actually the person that burnt down Dalton Academy.
[15:47] Patrick: So it's really, pick your fighter.
[15:49] Claudia: They would be a powerful evil duo, though.
[15:51] Patrick: Yeah, that's kind of like a Pretty Little Liars plot, where it's like, all along they were working together, and they're somebody's twin, and they were in love.
[15:57] Patrick: And you would think that they have no connection with each other, but actually, all along.
[16:07] Claudia: That's a great point, because the schemer in the Glee Club was always Santana, and then replaced by Kitty.
[16:15] Claudia: It would have been fun to have two schemers in the Glee Club at the same time.
[16:19] Patrick: I guess other characters would scheme in different ways, but a Kitty-Harmony duo, that sounds really fun.
[16:27] Claudia: A Kitty-Harmony mess around.
[16:29] Patrick: Maybe Lindsay had a peer who should have won the Glee Project.
[16:31] Claudia: Maybe so.
[16:33] Claudia: Wait, what are we calling Kitty and Harmony?
[16:35] Patrick: Are we calling them Harmony or Hartitty?
[16:37] Claudia: It's gotta be Hartitty, that's excellent.
[16:39] Patrick: It's gotta be Hartitty.
[16:41] Claudia: Harmony's the best name.
[16:43] Claudia: Because we also have Wild to play with.
[16:47] Patrick: Also in the Lindsay Pierce episode, we asked Lindsay what Harmony's last name is, and I think that she said something like Sondheim or something.
[16:57] Claudia: I was going to say LaPone.
[16:59] Patrick: It was something like Sondheim, similar to that.
[17:01] Claudia: Claudia, we did not do enough studying for this.
[17:05] Patrick: If you remember...
[17:07] Claudia: You actually should have listened to the Lindsay Pierce episode in preparation for this.
[17:11] Patrick: If you actually cared about this podcast.
[17:13] Claudia: Actually.
[17:15] Claudia: Do we want to get into grievances? Speaking of homework.
[17:19] Patrick: Ugh, homework.
[17:21] Claudia: I also just want to say from that note, Patrick, that it's insane that we were supposed to have, like, Santana was the Marley, and remember that?
[17:31] Claudia: In Thanksgiving, when they get paired up with people, Santana gets Marley, and Quinn gets Kitty, and then they were at odds with each other.
[17:41] Patrick: That never really made sense to me, but that was all I wanted to say.
[17:45] Claudia: You know what? I'm glad you had the chance to speak your truth about that.
[17:51] Patrick: I just have to say that.
[17:53] Patrick: That's what's important about this podcast. The Gleeks get to say what needs to be said.
[17:57] Patrick: That Santana and Marley should have really hit it off some more.
[18:01] Claudia: Or just not been paired up.
[18:03] Claudia: Marley should have been a little bit more evil, or a little bit more gay, or a little bit more Latina.
[18:07] Patrick: A little bit more Latina.
[18:09] Claudia: Because all that Quinn had in common with Kitty was that they were blonde and mean, and like, okay, that's fine.
[18:13] Claudia: But then all Marley and Santana had in common with that, they were brunettes.
[18:17] Patrick: No, all they had in common was the poop pill thing.
[18:21] Claudia: That was like the central...
[18:23] Patrick: Oh, brunettes and skinny legend.
[18:25] Claudia: Yeah.
[18:27] Claudia: It would have actually been really fun if Santana kind of taught Marley how to be a little bit more evil, or like, play for these games.
[18:35] Patrick: I think that's what you're saying. That would have been fun, yeah.
[18:37] Claudia: That is what I'm saying.
[18:39] Patrick: That makes perfect sense.
[18:41] Claudia: Sorry, I'm mansplaining Glee to you.
[18:43] Patrick: I'm mansplaining your own Glee stuff to you.
[18:47] Claudia: That'll happen a lot on this podcast episode, just so you know.
[18:51] Patrick: And I can't wait.
[18:53] Claudia: A Glee-splainer.
[18:55] Patrick: A Glee-splaining, also another title of Gleek of the Week podcast episode.
[18:59] Claudia: I saw that one scrolling through the feed.
[19:01] Patrick: I know, I know, we really gotta come up with a good one this week.
[19:05] Claudia: Wait, I feel like we already kind of did say...
[19:07] Patrick: We said a bunch of things, for sure.
[19:09] Claudia: We said one, already.
[19:11] Patrick: I don't know. Anyway, speaking of homework, hey!
[19:15] Claudia: Hey!
[19:17] Patrick: Who wants to go first? Who wants to turn in their homework first?
[19:21] Claudia: Me, me, me! Okay, go ahead.
[19:23] Claudia: Oh, okay! I actually have more than I thought.
[19:25] Claudia: Most of them are not that, like, violent of grievances, but just...
[19:31] Claudia: I would have voted differently, I think.
[19:33] Claudia: Should I start with the most controversial?
[19:39] Claudia: I think I've said it before on the podcast, if not just to you, but Survivor I Will Survive is, like, not my favorite Treble Tones number by a long shot.
[19:49] Patrick: And Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing, I love, and that's in my top 25 songs of Glee.
[19:55] Claudia: So I was really, really sad about that.
[19:57] Claudia: Two things I want to add.
[19:59] Patrick: I was doing a praise emoji, or praise emoji.
[20:03] Claudia: Yes.
[20:05] Claudia: As you were saying that. Emoji in real life.
[20:07] Patrick: Also known as a gesture. An emoji, based on the emoji.
[20:11] Claudia: And the other thing, you were in around two episodes with Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing, right?
[20:15] Patrick: Yeah, yeah.
[20:19] Patrick: I can't remember what it sent home, but yeah, so that was really disappointing to me, but also not a surprise, because I feel like I know that that's a big one for people, and that was also one that kind of had a target on its back for me, because I was really mad when y'all did the whole cheat of sending home Paradise just to bring it back, and blah, blah, blah.
[20:37] Claudia: I was not pleased.
[20:39] Patrick: Was not pleased with that life hack, to say the least.
[20:41] Claudia: I will say that as we're recording this episode, we're still in the midst of a vote for a song to come back, and it does seem as though, I think, like, over 50% Anyway You Want It, Love and Touch and Squeezing will live to see another day.
[20:59] Patrick: So, yeah. Which is interesting to me, and I reserve the right to do this. I can be crazy and idiosyncratic if I really want to be.
[21:07] Claudia: I think right now, I'm voting, I think I voted for Call Me Maybe to come back as a friend.
[21:13] Patrick: Song of the Summer.
[21:15] Claudia: Song of the Summer. Someone commented in the Patreon, and it was like, I think we all know what to do, what Rachel would have wanted.
[21:21] Patrick: I know what Rachel would have voted for.
[21:23] Claudia: Yeah. That was a hard petition, because again, big Britney girl.
[21:27] Claudia: And...
[21:29] Claudia: Wait, that was Call Me Maybe vs. Christmas Wrapping?
[21:31] Patrick: Christmas Wrapping, yeah.
[21:33] Claudia: And I want a Britney solo in there, and I do like Christmas Wrapping.
[21:37] Claudia: But Call Me Maybe is also in my top 25, and it's just such a fun number.
[21:41] Claudia: That's one where I love the MP3, I stream it all the time, and the MP4 is also so much fun.
[21:47] Claudia: And again, I'm a Season 4 fan.
[21:49] Claudia: I love those first few episodes of the season, especially.
[21:53] Patrick: What was...
[21:55] Patrick: I don't know, actually, for this competition, which way it would have gone, but too much hate on Dinosaur.
[22:01] Claudia: And that was in our last episode.
[22:03] Patrick: Yeah, exactly.
[22:05] Patrick: That was so sad.
[22:07] Claudia: Why am I blanking what took out Dinosaur?
[22:09] Patrick: Halo Walking on Sunshine.
[22:11] Claudia: Which I get. That's a classic.
[22:13] Claudia: That one also was like...
[22:15] Patrick: That MP4 does a lot more for me than the MP3, so for me, I was kind of like, whatever.
[22:21] Claudia: I think those are my big ones.
[22:25] Claudia: I had to say something controversial, but I don't really want to, which is that I might have gone Chasing Pavements over Ain't No Way.
[22:33] Patrick: Really?
[22:35] Claudia: Which is complicated for me, because Ain't No Way, the original Aretha song, is one of my favorite songs of all time.
[22:41] Claudia: And that was my number one song on Spotify last year, the Aretha version.
[22:45] Patrick: There's something about the solo that, I don't know, it feels a little bit overly produced to me.
[22:51] Patrick: I also never think of... I feel like Night of Neglect is an episode that I tend to not... I neglect that girl.
[23:01] Claudia: Totally. Every night.
[23:03] Claudia: Every single night.
[23:05] Claudia: I think I don't associate it as much with a moment or a memory in Glee.
[23:09] Claudia: And there are just a lot of other more solos that speak to me more.
[23:15] Claudia: Whereas Chasing Pavements really was about the moment.
[23:19] Claudia: It was.
[23:21] Claudia: For all the same reasons of me not loving Season 4 and the earlier episodes and stuff.
[23:27] Patrick: So that one was tough for me, because a Marcello alone carries a lot of weight.
[23:31] Patrick: Aretha's song carries a lot of weight.
[23:33] Patrick: Ain't No Way carries a lot of weight.
[23:35] Patrick: But there's something about the version that's not my favorite.
[23:37] Claudia: No, that means so much coming from you, specifically.
[23:39] Claudia: All joking aside, I know you are Aretha girl through and through.
[23:41] Patrick: That's true.
[23:43] Patrick: And so this means it's a little bit more heavy.
[23:45] Claudia: Yeah, and it's hard.
[23:47] Claudia: I can't really put my finger on it.
[23:49] Claudia: I listened to it again, the Glee version after listening to the episode, and I was just like, I don't know.
[23:55] Claudia: Maybe it's just that the Aretha version is so high up there for me, and I've listened to it probably like hundreds of times.
[24:01] Claudia: But I don't feel that way about all of the Mercedes covers of Aretha's songs.
[24:07] Patrick: Really quickly, best Marcello for you?
[24:09] Claudia: I think my gut response is you make me feel like a natural woman.
[24:13] Patrick: It's really amazing.
[24:15] Patrick: I really love that one.
[24:17] Patrick: Claudia: Patrick kind of hates it.
[24:19] Patrick: That's one that's a great rendition.
[24:21] Claudia: No, I just don't get the renaissance for that song, because Andrew, out of all the Mercedes solos, I feel like you've talked about how underrated that one is the most.
[24:27] Patrick: And then we pulled it on up.
[24:31] Patrick: I think you mean Charlie.
[24:33] Patrick: With Charlie, yeah.
[24:35] Patrick: And I was like, oh.
[24:37] Claudia: But we sent it through.
[24:39] Claudia: I think it beat the Adam Lanham Marry the Night.
[24:41] Patrick: Which I had one of my first episodes.
[24:43] Claudia: So it's all connected.
[24:45] Claudia: Oh, wow. It's all a web.
[24:47] Claudia: I think the leaks all are in our DMs, talking about how much they hate us.
[24:51] Patrick: Literally no DMs.
[24:53] Claudia: Does anybody ever say that they hate you?
[24:55] Patrick: No. Actually, it's only Eduardo in the Patreon chat.
[24:59] Claudia: Right, right. That's a great example.
[25:01] Claudia: And you too could be privy to that if you are a Patreon subscriber.
[25:05] Patrick: Wait, okay. We have to get at least another Patreon plug in later.
[25:09] Claudia: I think that was...
[25:11] Patrick: We will. That's okay.
[25:13] Patrick: I think we're already a member of the Broadway podcast network.
[25:15] Claudia: Oh, Broadway podcast network.
[25:17] Claudia: We're doing fine.
[25:19] Patrick: I wonder if people who find out about Gleek of the Week from that network are going to be like, they didn't send enough Broadway songs through.
[25:25] Claudia: And then you're going to get DMs from people from like...
[25:27] Patrick: I think that we send a lot of Broadway songs through.
[25:29] Claudia: No?
[25:31] Patrick: We're going to get a DM from Patti LuPone.
[25:33] Claudia: Patti LuPone be like, what the hell is Claudia on?
[25:35] Patrick: Wait.
[25:37] Patrick: What are you thinking, Gleek of Grievance-wise?
[25:43] Patrick: Well, I will say, I think Claudia and I actually have a lot in common just in life.
[25:47] Patrick: I'm always messaging her because she's posting things. I'm like, I love that movie. I love that song.
[25:53] Patrick: And she literally took every single one of mine that I had.
[25:59] Patrick: But that's okay because I have just a little bit of stuff to talk about for each of them.
[26:03] Patrick: For the Survivor mashup, first, Loving, Touching, Squeezing, I agree.
[26:07] Patrick: Paradise, a whole part of it has colored my opinion about Survivor mashup.
[26:11] Patrick: But at the same time...
[26:15] Patrick: I don't think I'll ever recover from that.
[26:17] Claudia: You won't.
[26:19] Patrick: But at the same time, I feel like we are really kind of...
[26:21] Patrick: I feel like there's a very...
[26:25] Patrick: The 80s rock season one songs, I feel like are all getting killed off because we think that there's so many of them.
[26:31] Claudia: Like what?
[26:35] Patrick: I don't know. Losing my religion?
[26:37] Claudia: Yeah.
[26:39] Patrick: Well, that's season two.
[26:41] Claudia: Fuck me.
[26:43] Patrick: Kill me dead right now.
[26:45] Patrick: Honestly, maybe just the Journey things.
[26:47] Claudia: So, don't stop believing.
[26:49] Patrick: We have the OG one, but the far superior version.
[26:51] Claudia: Lost in Round One.
[26:53] Patrick: A lot of the other ones.
[26:55] Patrick: And then Loving, Touching, Squeezing is so...
[26:57] Patrick: I can't believe it kind of got tossed away so easily.
[26:59] Claudia: And then Faithfully, I remember was at the subject of the Faithfully versus...
[27:05] Patrick: I always forget the name of this.
[27:07] Patrick: I Feel Pretty and Pretty.
[27:09] Patrick: I feel like all those songs are so monumental to me.
[27:11] Patrick: When I kind of think Glee, especially Glee season one, I think about the Journey numbers and the Journey to Regionals, whatever.
[27:19] Claudia: I don't know. I feel like there's no hub-a-loo about those songs because I think people think there are so many of them.
[27:25] Patrick: And now Loving, Touching, Squeezing got killed.
[27:27] Patrick: And it's like, I'm nervous.
[27:29] Claudia: No, Loving, Touching, Squeezing is coming back. You can chill.
[27:31] Patrick: You can chill.
[27:33] Patrick: I am thinking of an early season one rock cover that I am ready to let go of.
[27:39] Claudia: And maybe you'll agree, maybe you won't.
[27:41] Patrick: Still left in the cup.
[27:43] Claudia: I'm talking about Alone.
[27:45] Patrick: I kind of like that one.
[27:47] Claudia: It's good!
[27:49] Patrick: Now we're going to pull it later.
[27:53] Claudia: Yes.
[27:55] Claudia: And then Survivor Mashup, I think I have the same opinion as Claudia.
[27:59] Claudia: I'm not a Gleek who's foaming up the mouth for that one.
[28:01] Patrick: I never was, I never will be, but whatever.
[28:03] Patrick: Good for the Gleeks that are going to make it the winner of the Glocket for whatever reason.
[28:09] Claudia: Oh my god.
[28:11] Claudia: Do you want to just get rid of it?
[28:13] Patrick: Honestly, I'm actually earnestly asking you.
[28:15] Patrick: Would it be more interesting to get rid of it?
[28:17] Claudia: I think that the...
[28:21] Claudia: I think that it's getting too much power behind it now.
[28:25] Patrick: It's like people are starting to be like, I love this song because I'm supposed to.
[28:29] Claudia: It's kind of getting that energy behind it now.
[28:33] Patrick: No.
[28:35] Patrick: As the one actual liker of this song, I guess, in this conversation, I literally, every time that I watch that performance, I feel invigorated.
[28:41] Patrick: There's something about specifically when Santana's marching toward the edge of the stage.
[28:45] Patrick: It's so iconic.
[28:47] Claudia: Just talking about it, I have a smile on my face now.
[28:49] Claudia: I love it.
[28:51] Claudia: It's fun, it's just it keeps killing ones that I think are no-brainers that should beat it.
[28:57] Patrick: That makes me nervous as a patron, as a contributor, sometimes to this podcast.
[29:01] Patrick: I'm like, I love this podcast.
[29:03] Patrick: Every time that song comes up, it kills something that I like more.
[29:07] Claudia: I don't want to be taken out of the cup by any means.
[29:09] Claudia: I do love the performance.
[29:11] Claudia: I'm just kind of like, it has too much power in the community than what I think it deserves.
[29:17] Patrick: It keeps killing my faves.
[29:19] Patrick: That's why I'm kind of sad.
[29:21] Claudia: Canonically brought back Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
[29:25] Claudia: That means it's better than most of the songs that are left.
[29:29] Patrick: By that logic.
[29:31] Patrick: That's true.
[29:33] Patrick: But that was a case of it being a life hack.
[29:35] Claudia: Everyone's given their opinions about that, but I'm kind of like I do get sad when something that's very iconic to me leaves, even if it doesn't get brought back.
[29:41] Claudia: Then it's like, the people don't really actually think this is the best song on Glee because it died.
[29:47] Patrick: But it's still like, I'm happy that it's back and I love voting back songs.
[29:51] Claudia: Blah, blah, blah.
[29:53] Patrick: We've talked about that before.
[29:55] Claudia: Wait, go ahead.
[29:57] Patrick: I'm just going to keep going on with my grievances, but feel free.
[29:59] Claudia: I was just going to say that next round with it being a clean 100, it does lend itself to no songs getting voted back over the course of round four, which is really spooky scary, but also like, okay, let's actually lock in right now.
[30:05] Claudia: Let's get serious and actually decide the best song on Glee.
[30:09] Patrick: I like that for round four especially. I feel like I wasn't ready for that for round three.
[30:13] Patrick: I think that was the right call.
[30:15] Claudia: Okay, thank you.
[30:17] Patrick: Next one was Chris's rapping verse, Call Me Maybe, and I love Call Me Maybe.
[30:21] Patrick: Same thing, Claudia, I love the beginning of season four so much.
[30:25] Patrick: It's just kind of new and different and you're like, is this going to be good? Is this going to be good?
[30:29] Patrick: It kind of isn't, but it's still...
[30:31] Patrick: I feel like we like it more than most, you and I.
[30:33] Claudia: That was also my first year of college was season four, and so genuinely I did kind of relate to a lot of them being like, I miss my high school theater friends, and I feel uncomfortable at college.
[30:41] Patrick: Yeah, I vibe with that.
[30:43] Patrick: But Christmas rapping, that's another one where I feel like it got a lot of love on this podcast, and so then everyone's like, well, Christmas rapping's iconic.
[30:49] Claudia: Be sure.
[30:51] Claudia: You think that the Christmas rapping love is fake?
[30:53] Patrick: No, no, I think it's just Allison bent over backwards to talk about how much she loved that song and stuff, and so now I feel like when I get pulled through, this is an iconic song on the podcast, and I'm like, oh, but Call Me Maybe was so fun and cute, but I could understand where Christmas rapping went through.
[31:03] Claudia: I did love Call Me Maybe a lot.
[31:05] Claudia: And then Chasing Pavements, Ain't No Way.
[31:07] Claudia: There's just something about Chasing Pavements.
[31:09] Patrick: I think it's because the first time I heard that song was the Glee cover.
[31:11] Patrick: I wasn't a daydreamer.
[31:13] Patrick: I do love Adele, but I don't know.
[31:15] Patrick: I really feel like in my adolescence, the only songs I knew were songs that were on Glee, or songs that were on the radio, and I feel like Chasing Pavements didn't really hit the radio waves very much.
[31:23] Claudia: Maybe it did, and I just was listening to a different station, but yeah.
[31:27] Patrick: So those are most of them.
[31:29] Patrick: The one that Claudia didn't say, I'm surprised she didn't.
[31:31] Patrick: That was really hard for me.
[31:33] Patrick: I was really sad to lose Take Care of Yourself.
[31:35] Claudia: Yeah.
[31:37] Patrick: Oh my lord.
[31:39] Claudia: Are you being serious?
[31:41] Patrick: He had a grin on his face. He had the evilest grin.
[31:43] Patrick: It was so heartbreaking.
[31:47] Claudia: Man, that's heavy.
[31:49] Claudia: I'm sorry that you had to vote that one out, Andrew.
[31:51] Andrew: Listen, I stand on business for what Take Care of Yourself did to come see about me, and I again, I don't care about what happened to it most recently.
[31:59] Andrew: I'm sorry. Both can be true.
[32:01] Andrew: I'm just saying that I'm sad to see that one go.
[32:03] Claudia: I'm not bringing it up!
[32:05] Claudia: I'm not bringing it up!
[32:07] Andrew: Why would I bring stuff from the past up right now?
[32:09] Andrew: That's not at all what I talk about ever.
[32:11] Claudia: I also want to bring up two legal notes in response to the previous episode.
[32:15] Claudia: People have been pointing to that Connor, Allison, and I were hating on millennials in the episode.
[32:19] Patrick: I didn't get that vibe at all.
[32:21] Claudia: Me either.
[32:23] Claudia: I saw that in a Patreon, and I was like...
[32:25] Patrick: No, it's okay. I understand why you thought that we were hating on millennials.
[32:29] Patrick: I understand that we actually are millennials, all three of the people in the conversation.
[32:33] Claudia: It's self-hating.
[32:35] Patrick: It's self-hate. Yeah, self-deprecation.
[32:37] Claudia: Come on!
[32:39] Patrick: Also, I received a voicemail talking about the Damien McGinty Street team.
[32:43] Claudia: Oh boy.
[32:45] Patrick: Someone else is also part of that Facebook group who sent a voicemail in, and they said that that was indeed a real thing that happened to Damien, that he did lose some of it.
[32:51] Claudia: Oh my god, that's horrible.
[32:53] Patrick: So...
[32:55] Claudia: Well, we need to clear that up.
[32:57] Patrick: Can I talk about Damien McGinty for a second?
[32:59] Patrick: The one thing that always bothered me is that in the Glee Project, there were all these unknown people.
[33:03] Patrick: I'm from an Irish family, and we watched the PBS Celtic Thunder special every freaking year.
[33:07] Patrick: So then I was like, what do you mean? They're like, Damien is this kid from Ireland. No one knows him.
[33:11] Patrick: He's relatively famous in his own country.
[33:13] Claudia: No, there was a girl at my high school that was fully obsessed with Irish culture that was freaking out over Damien being part of the Glee Project.
[33:19] Patrick: Yeah.
[33:21] Patrick: Insane.
[33:23] Patrick: He came to the mall by my house and my friend got a picture with him.
[33:27] Claudia: That's awesome.
[33:29] Patrick: To shop.
[33:31] Claudia: What? To shop?
[33:33] Patrick: Oh, to shop, no.
[33:35] Patrick: To be Damien McGinty.
[33:37] Claudia: To take care of yourself.
[33:39] Patrick: Not just anyone can do it.
[33:41] Andrew: Anyway, what are we hoping to see in this episode of The Four Songs?
[33:43] Claudia: Any manifestations here?
[33:45] Patrick: I do. I was listening to The Remaining Songs playlist, and I was getting hit after hit.
[33:49] Patrick: Namely, I think the first one I got was Nutbush.
[33:51] Claudia: Oh.
[33:53] Patrick: I would just love to watch those girls do their thing at this time.
[33:57] Claudia: That's something I liked.
[33:59] Patrick: I don't know.
[34:01] Patrick: I didn't listen to The Remaining Songs playlist.
[34:03] Claudia: I feel like my memory and life has been getting not as good.
[34:05] Patrick: I'm afraid to be like, I hope this song gets pulled.
[34:07] Claudia: That is actually in episode one, round four.
[34:09] Patrick: Or the worst part is in round three, I've been like, I want to pull this song.
[34:13] Claudia: What happened to this song?
[34:15] Patrick: And you're like, Patrick, that was in the last episode.
[34:17] Claudia: I'm like, oh, that's not good.
[34:19] Patrick: I'll hold my...
[34:21] Claudia: Do you want to just...
[34:23] Patrick: A general...
[34:25] Patrick: I would like...
[34:27] Patrick: I always like group numbers.
[34:29] Patrick: I feel like the Chasing Pavements versus Ain't No Way thing in a sense is like...
[34:31] Patrick: A lot of times I don't go wild over a solo solo.
[34:33] Patrick: I know Chasing Pavements is a solo for Marley, but the rest of the Glee Club is there and doing the vocals in the background and they're dancing and having fun.
[34:41] Patrick: I don't know. When I think Glee, I think group numbers.
[34:45] Patrick: The actual Glee Club doing their little competitions and stuff like that.
[34:49] Patrick: As we get further into the rounds, I feel like I might start campaigning for group numbers really heavily over even iconic solos.
[34:55] Patrick: Because, I don't know, I think that the best song on Glee should be a Glee Club number or at least I would hope that some of those get pretty far.
[35:01] Claudia: So, yeah, I do love a group number.
[35:03] Claudia: I love a competition number.
[35:05] Andrew: So, yeah, I do love that.
[35:07] Andrew: The more than words be okay last time pisses me off.
[35:09] Claudia: That was wild.
[35:11] Andrew: You know, Claudia, I was going to say you had some really tough moments I feel like in your past episodes and other competitions.
[35:17] Claudia: I know. I was sad.
[35:19] Claudia: I was really sad and I'm always texting Andrew and I'm like, you suck.
[35:23] Andrew: Wow, this is really insane for a first song.
[35:27] Claudia: I'm scared.
[35:29] Claudia: I have a really fun thing to say about this and you're going to know exactly what it is.
[35:33] Andrew: Boom! I really love playing this game.
[35:35] Patrick: Oh my god.
[35:37] Claudia: It was bound to happen at some point.
[35:39] Claudia: It is Lose My Breath.
[35:41] Andrew: This song is like progressively getting better for me.
[35:43] Claudia: At first I was a hater.
[35:45] Claudia: I'm really seeing the light now.
[35:47] Claudia: There's nothing wrong with it.
[35:49] Patrick: Is that fine to say?
[35:51] Claudia: This is good.
[35:53] Claudia: It's not perfect.
[35:55] Claudia: It set out to do the thing that it did and they did it.
[35:59] Patrick: Was that the really fun thing you wanted to say about this song?
[36:01] Claudia: That was the really, really fun thing that I wanted to say.
[36:03] Patrick: It is okay.
[36:05] Claudia: I've been dying to talk about Josie Toda on Kevin and Jenna's podcast.
[36:09] Patrick: Yeah.
[36:11] Claudia: The legend that she is, she was telling this story about how Lea Michele came up to her on set one day and was like, Josie, what's your favorite musical?
[36:17] Claudia: Josie was like, I don't really know. I guess Chicago?
[36:21] Claudia: Lea Michele says, I don't like that one.
[36:25] Claudia: And then walks away.
[36:29] Patrick: I didn't listen to that episode.
[36:31] Claudia: It was so funny.
[36:33] Claudia: I was screaming.
[36:35] Claudia: I was listening on my AirPods and then I needed to play it on the HomePod Mini for Elias to also hear it.
[36:41] Patrick: Wait, what were Jenna and Kevin's reaction to that?
[36:43] Claudia: They just laughed.
[36:45] Claudia: They never say anything to those sort of things.
[36:47] Patrick: So funny.
[36:49] Claudia: This is one that I think as I was kind of talking about my grievances where I think sometimes how we talk about it on The Glackett kind of adds some lore to it.
[36:55] Claudia: I think this one kind of has some lore to it now.
[36:57] Andrew: Oh, yeah.
[36:59] Claudia: The actors who played Roderick and Spencer, like they went through.
[37:03] Patrick: I think it was in kind of a wonky competition last round too.
[37:05] Claudia: The first round or something.
[37:07] Claudia: The lore recap.
[37:09] Claudia: In round one, we were testing out a way of doing an episode Allison and I where if we disagreed on a competition we would call people that agreed to be kind of lifelines.
[37:15] Claudia: And so it was a competition of Lose My Breath versus Dream A Little Dream the Artolo from season one.
[37:21] Patrick: Damn.
[37:23] Claudia: I know.
[37:25] Claudia: And I voted for Dream A Little Dream and then Allison was like I'm going to lose my breath and we were like okay we need to call Elena, queen of my life Elena and Elena was like oh yeah definitely lose my breath and I was like what?
[37:35] Okay.
[37:37] And then Lose My Breath was in the Marshall Williams Noah Guthrie episode against Give Up The Funk another season one banger.
[37:43] Patrick: That's bad.
[37:45] Patrick: And so Lose My Breath is kind of eating it up.
[37:47] Claudia: It's crazy.
[37:49] Claudia: I really did like that one and I think that I've talked about this before but as I do rewatches of season five and six I kind of stop looking at them as narrative like is this song or this episode fitting the overall narrative of the show because a lot of them weren't and it was kind of sloppy that way but the actual work that they were doing and the performances and things were still really fun to me.
[38:01] Claudia: I remember being annoyed that there was a little kid on the show and then now I'm looking back and I'm like this is hilarious.
[38:07] Patrick: Yeah, I see the vision.
[38:09] Claudia: The season six subplots that were not like Rachel and Kurt are leaving the Glee Club and finding their place.
[38:15] Claudia: Every other subplot is hilarious.
[38:17] Patrick: Specifically when I was watching this I was just thinking about the fact that they forced all of the adults to participate in this in the bar mitzvah performance and how it was like it was so funny.
[38:25] Patrick: It's just I love describing this jigsaw live bear in the apartment.
[38:29] Claudia: I just love describing that to people because it sounds like I made it up.
[38:33] Patrick: That is the kind of thing that I- that's my sense of humor.
[38:35] Patrick: My sense of humor is nothing really random.
[38:37] Claudia: Child singing Destiny's Child.
[38:39] Patrick: Okay.
[38:41] Patrick: I'm in for that.
[38:43] Patrick: I'm really in for that.
[38:45] Claudia: And I re-watched season six most recently like a couple years ago.
[38:49] Patrick: Oh no, maybe like a year ago.
[38:51] Patrick: And it wasn't like hard to get through. Like it's funny.
[38:53] Claudia: I will say that I watched this episode maybe a year ago as well.
[38:57] Patrick: Child Star.
[38:59] Claudia: It's a rough watch for me personally.
[39:01] Patrick: I'm going to say the climbing the rope could have done without it.
[39:05] Claudia: I could have done without it.
[39:07] Patrick: But I like all the rehearsal of the adults.
[39:09] Patrick: That stuff's really funny to me.
[39:11] Patrick: They got a writer from Dog with a Blog in for that episode.
[39:13] Claudia: Right.
[39:15] Patrick: Because Josie was at Disney at the time.
[39:17] Claudia: Right.
[39:19] Patrick: Jessie.
[39:21] Claudia: I remember her from Jessie.
[39:23] Patrick: Okay wait so who did Josie play in Jessie?
[39:25] Claudia: Josie Jessie.
[39:27] Patrick: One of the kids' friends.
[39:29] Claudia: I can't remember if she was evil or a love interest.
[39:31] Patrick: One-sided love interest for Skai Jackson was like get away from me.
[39:35] Claudia: Oh.
[39:37] Patrick: Who's funny?
[39:39] Claudia: Queen of my life Skai Jackson.
[39:41] Patrick: True.
[39:43] Patrick: No she does not.
[39:45] Claudia: Now that we're a member of Broadway Podcast Network that's all gonna change.
[39:49] Patrick: No Skai Jackson.
[39:51] Patrick: Skai Jackson on the Broadway Podcast Network.
[39:53] Claudia: Do you remember in...
[39:55] Claudia: I would be very surprised not to brag about like remember this if you probably don't.
[39:59] Claudia: Skai Jackson during the pandemic that her and her mom would go on Instagram Live and host talent shows where they would invite...
[40:05] Patrick: Do you remember this?
[40:07] Claudia: No.
[40:09] Claudia: I don't know this lore.
[40:11] Patrick: I don't know her like taking down Azalea Banks.
[40:13] Claudia: Didn't she go to jail?
[40:15] Patrick: She did for like domestic abuse.
[40:17] Claudia: Oh no, no, no. Her man did.
[40:19] Patrick: No, I think she did too.
[40:21] Claudia: Yikes.
[40:23] Patrick: Anyway, her and her mom would host like talent shows on Instagram Live and then like very frequently the talents would not be great and then they would leave and then would still publicly like laugh at the person after they left.
[40:31] Claudia: That's really bad.
[40:33] Patrick: I wonder if Skai Jackson has seen the episode of Glee Child Star.
[40:37] Claudia: Do you think Skai Jackson has sat down and watched it and was like I'm friends with Josie?
[40:41] Patrick: I think so.
[40:43] Patrick: I'll look.
[40:45] Patrick: Do you think Debbie Ryan has seen the episode of Glee Child Star?
[40:49] Claudia: I don't.
[40:51] Patrick: I don't think Debbie Ryan.
[40:53] Claudia: Debbie Ryan was like too busy being crazy doing something.
[40:55] Patrick: Making history.
[40:57] Claudia: Making history.
[40:59] Patrick: Go ahead.
[41:01] Claudia: You were talking about like this episode and kind of how it was rough.
[41:03] Claudia: I mean I think that like what I didn't like is like I watched that performance and I'm like that is so fun.
[41:07] Claudia: Not to say Josie didn't do a good job for the rest of the episode but I hate it when Myron was like screaming and yelling and stuff.
[41:13] Claudia: I was like this isn't like that funny and like it's season six and I'm like there's quite a bit more stuff I want to see from a lot of the characters that we have five episodes left to see and I'm getting Josie Toda screaming at Sue Sylvester.
[41:25] Patrick: This could be a little bit better.
[41:27] Claudia: Watching that performance in a vacuum is a ton of fun.
[41:29] Claudia: But I think it's like kind of like inherently Glee to be like we have four episodes left in the series.
[41:33] Claudia: Let's introduce a 13-year-old child and let them sing a Destiny's Child song and like let them have like the eight like what B plot of this episode?
[41:41] Patrick: I don't even know.
[41:43] Claudia: I want to take this time to say that I think it's weird that people are always like and people are you Andrew.
[41:47] Claudia: Season six newbies are more interesting and more compelling than the season four newbies.
[41:51] Patrick: I love you.
[41:53] Patrick: I love you so much.
[41:55] Patrick: I find it insane.
[41:57] Claudia: I get that it's like not their fault but like we don't know anything about them besides the like random weird little bits.
[42:01] Patrick: They all like nothing on the actors but it's just like I don't care about them at all.
[42:05] Claudia: At all.
[42:07] Claudia: None?
[42:09] Patrick: No.
[42:11] Patrick: I love Noah Guthrie as a performer and a human.
[42:15] Claudia: Um, I like Kitty.
[42:17] Patrick: She's season four.
[42:19] Patrick: They don't give them any.
[42:21] Patrick: They give them no emotional depth.
[42:23] Claudia: Jane, I guess she's lacking depth.
[42:25] Patrick: Her whole thing is one.
[42:27] Patrick: She has one thing and I think that she was like she's an incredibly talented singer and I would have liked to see more of like Samantha Ware.
[42:35] Claudia: Yeah.
[42:37] Claudia: On my TV.
[42:39] Claudia: Yeah.
[42:41] Patrick: But like I don't think inherently her character is really that interesting.
[42:43] Claudia: No and there I...
[42:45] Patrick: No, you can't say that.
[42:47] Claudia: There's annoying weird matchups.
[42:49] Patrick: No.
[42:51] Patrick: Why?
[42:53] Claudia: Why not?
[42:55] Patrick: Jane in her debut episode, I remember being kind of like shaken to my core a little bit watching that episode being like wow this is kind of really interesting.
[43:01] Patrick: What a big swing.
[43:03] Patrick: Glee's final season to be like female warbler vibes.
[43:05] Claudia: Like I wasn't even thinking about that.
[43:07] Claudia: You know?
[43:09] Patrick: And now here she is.
[43:11] Claudia: But all that was was the one episode.
[43:13] Patrick: That's my issue and like again not like not the character's fault because they're not real.
[43:15] Claudia: Oh.
[43:17] Patrick: That's good.
[43:19] Patrick: All of her singing is great.
[43:21] Patrick: It's just like anytime I have any emotional connection to any of those characters it's for like one episode and then they move on so fast versus like...
[43:27] Claudia: Yeah, whatever the season four are different like characters types that we had in the earlier seasons and like are in a different way but like I don't know.
[43:35] Patrick: It could just be a product of them having more time together but like I did care if Marley ended up with Ryder or Jake.
[43:41] Claudia: I don't really know why but I did.
[43:43] Patrick: What was Marley?
[43:45] Claudia: What do the people say that Marley was recycled from?
[43:47] Patrick: She's supposed to be the new Rachel.
[43:49] Claudia: But she's not.
[43:51] Patrick: She was kind of like more like Mercedes.
[43:53] Claudia: Kind of.
[43:55] Claudia: She wasn't really like anybody.
[43:57] Patrick: She wasn't really like anybody.
[43:59] Claudia: She didn't want to be like...
[44:01] Patrick: She's Tina.
[44:03] Claudia: She's Tina but we already have Tina.
[44:05] Patrick: Kitty was a clone but was still really fun.
[44:07] Patrick: Ryder was like clone-ish of Finn but like different.
[44:09] Claudia: Don't worry.
[44:11] Patrick: And then Jake did kind of piss me off because I really liked the actor and like whatever but it was like his whole thing was like I'm not going to be my brother and I'm like okay then don't be and then do something else.
[44:19] Claudia: That kind of annoys me.
[44:21] Patrick: His entire character arc.
[44:23] Claudia: His brother that he never met until Glee Club.
[44:25] Patrick: He's like I don't want to be like him. You don't know him.
[44:27] Claudia: He didn't want to be like his dad.
[44:29] Patrick: Legal note.
[44:31] Patrick: Legal note.
[44:33] Patrick: Mr. Pufferman.
[44:35] Patrick: That character was weird and seemed like an excuse to write in a lot of weird jokes about being biracial.
[44:39] Claudia: I remember those a lot.
[44:41] Patrick: I remember those a lot.
[44:43] Claudia: Oh yeah.
[44:45] Patrick: It's like the ones that exist now are a very specific time-tested formula that I could never explain.
[44:51] Claudia: It's just like a secret sauce.
[44:53] Patrick: I don't know where it came from, but the beginning ones are like...
[44:55] Claudia: Most people could just kind of pick one of these.
[44:57] Patrick: That's not true.
[44:59] Patrick: I'm looking at one that says Schrodinger's Glee, so I don't know what I'm talking about, but I don't know.
[45:01] Claudia: Quinn for Bright Representation.
[45:03] Patrick: So they're a little literal
