[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Gracie: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:32] Gracie: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:35] Andrew: It's a late night live stream.

[0:41] Andrew: Late night live stream with Ian Allred.

[0:46] Ian Allred: That was stunning.

[0:48] Gracie: Thank you.

[0:49] Ian Allred: That was so, you should put that on Spotify.

[0:51] Gracie: That was gorgeous.

[0:53] Ian Allred: Spotify cannot take that down.

[0:55] Gracie: They can't.

[0:56] Ian Allred: That's an original.

[0:56] Gracie: That's an original, baby.

[0:57] Ian Allred: That's an original.

[0:58] Gracie: They're singing original songs.

[1:00] Ian Allred: Yeah, so we are recording this at 9:05 p.m.

[1:05] Andrew: Eastern Standard Time.

[1:07] Ian Allred: A little switch up usually.

[1:10] Andrew: What time do you usually record your podcast?

[1:14] Ian Allred: Anywhere from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

[1:17] Ian Allred: Eastern Standard Time, because we usually do it when Lena gets off work.

[1:20] Ian Allred: So like somewhere in that window.

[1:23] Ian Allred: When Allison and I first started, we like typically did like 9 p.m. recordings, but also the episodes were like 45 minutes long.

[1:34] Ian Allred: And so it was like, fine.

[1:36] Ian Allred: I don't foresee this episode being far too long because I do want to go to sleep.

[1:42] Gracie: But um, oh my gosh, where are your priorities?

[1:45] Ian Allred: Your mental and emotional health, girl, please.

[1:49] Gracie: Sorry.

[1:50] Ian Allred: And then also I texted you about this earlier that I have a terrible habit of scheduling these recordings with you on nights of major award ceremonies.

[2:02] Ian Allred: Well, last time it was during the Tony Awards and I talked about Tony Award winner Darren Criss and then he did end up winning.

[2:10] Ian Allred: So I'm here to talk about Emmy Award winner Brit Lauer for her work in Severance, which I actually haven't.

[2:14] Ian Allred: I haven't looked at the results.

[2:17] Gracie: Did she lose or did she win?

[2:18] Ian Allred: You have a big look on your face.

[2:19] Gracie: Do you want to know?

[2:20] Ian Allred: Yes.

[2:21] Gracie: Okay.

[2:24] Gracie: It's going to color the entire mood of this episode for me.

[2:27] Ian Allred: No, no, no. It's actually, I'm excited to share with you, Brit Lauer won.

[2:31] Gracie: Everybody will remember where they were when Brit Lauer won.

[2:39] Ian Allred: And also while she was like reading her, she wrote an acceptance speech and then on the other side, I don't know what this was.

[2:49] Ian Allred: She wrote on the other side facing camera, let me out.

[2:54] Gracie: And I'm like, it's supposed to be Hellier.

[2:58] Ian Allred: Yeah, that's a Severance like Easter egg.

[3:00] Gracie: Yeah.

[3:01] Ian Allred: Okay.

[3:01] Gracie: That's very fun.

[3:02] Ian Allred: I like that.

[3:02] Ian Allred: That was actually Brit Lauer saying my managers are holding me hostage and I'm trying to make something happen.

[3:08] Ian Allred: I want to get out of this entire.

[3:11] Ian Allred: I hate acting.

[3:13] Ian Allred: I hate acting.

[3:14] Ian Allred: I don't even want this.

[3:16] Ian Allred: They won't let me quit.

[3:17] Gracie: What even is an Emmy?

[3:19] Ian Allred: Um, but also, uh, do you want any other awards?

[3:23] Ian Allred: Um, that was the one that I was like, I desperately need Brit Lauer to win.

[3:28] Ian Allred: Have they announced supporting actor in drama yet?

[3:32] Gracie: Yes.

[3:33] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[3:33] Ian Allred: That's the one that I'm excited to share with you.

[3:35] Ian Allred: And that was like the category that I was very excited about.

[3:39] Gracie: Okay.

[3:39] Gracie: Well, I wanted to be, I'm trying to make sure I remember his first name.

[3:42] Gracie: Tramiel Tillman.

[3:43] Ian Allred: Tramiel Tillman.

[3:44] Ian Allred: Pardon me.

[3:45] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[3:45] Ian Allred: And, and I think it was like Jason Bateman and Jude Law presented that category and they, and Tramiel won.

[3:56] Gracie: Great.

[3:57] Ian Allred: Oh my gosh.

[3:58] Ian Allred: I don't know who said it, but they said Tramiel.

[4:02] Gracie: And I'm like, oh God.

[4:03] Ian Allred: Like Campbell.

[4:04] Gracie: Yeah.

[4:04] Ian Allred: I'm like, you know, these nominate, like, you know, who's nominated in your category.

[4:09] Gracie: Yeah.

[4:11] Ian Allred: Anyway, they're trying to get another a Delta Z moment.

[4:14] Gracie: Yeah.

[4:14] Ian Allred: I said, will it go viral?

[4:15] Gracie: If we say Tramiel like Camel?

[4:17] Ian Allred: Tramiel like Camel?

[4:19] Gracie: Kind of like, is that frontrunner for title of app?

[4:22] Ian Allred: I don't think that it will land with the Gleeks to make a severance reference.

[4:25] Gracie: Four minutes in?

[4:26] Ian Allred: No, no, no.

[4:27] Gracie: I think it will.

[4:27] Ian Allred: Okay.

[4:28] Ian Allred: Here's the deal.

[4:28] Ian Allred: I have been wanting to talk about severance on a podcast forum because famously Lena hasn't ever seen severance.

[4:34] Gracie: Does she not want to watch it?

[4:37] Ian Allred: No, she just doesn't have Apple TV.

[4:38] Gracie: Oh, yeah.

[4:40] Ian Allred: Big hindrance.

[4:41] Ian Allred: And I also don't so I can't like share an account with her the way I watch Apple TV is I book contracts where in-company housing the person who lived in the house before me forgot to sign out and then I just watch it on their account.

[4:55] Ian Allred: So I only watched Apple TV when I'm working as an actor, which thankfully was during season two severance.

[5:02] Gracie: Oh, that's really really iconic.

[5:04] Ian Allred: I am like always so afraid that I'm going to like forget to like log out of like my accounts when I go into like girl hotels and I'm like because I see I see who like who forgot, you know, a menagerie of past actors in this apartment.

[5:19] Ian Allred: I'm telling you I got I got everything on these TVs.

[5:22] Ian Allred: It's really thrilling and it's like it's so scary.

[5:24] Ian Allred: Like when you're looking at this like kind of like graveyard of like YouTube accounts of like folks that have been in this exact room that it's like what was what was this guy Joe doing in this room?

[5:35] Gracie: What business or pleasure?

[5:37] Ian Allred: What was he doing and I love after I spend a night on some anonymous person's YouTube algorithm.

[5:45] Ian Allred: I love to imagine them the next day getting all these like recommended videos of Tony Award performances and be like what the fuck happened here what happened and they will have no idea they will not be able to trace it anyway, because you forgot to log out of the Hilton.

[5:59] Gracie: Sorry, babe.

[6:00] Ian Allred: Sorry, baby.

[6:01] Ian Allred: That's what you get.

[6:02] Ian Allred: Your algorithm is all fucked up now.

[6:04] Andrew: Anyway, we will talk about Glee I suppose.

[6:10] Ian Allred: Do you want to do you have any?

[6:12] Ian Allred: This is Emmys recap Emmys recap while it's happening not even watching it a week later.

[6:17] Gracie: Oh wait, but I do have news that I wrote down to share with the Gleeks is that the song that was voted back by beautiful patrons of this very podcast reminder that if you would like to attend these live stream episodes and also vote for songs to come back patreon.com slash Gleek of the week pod the song that you voted back was anyway, you want it love and touch and squeeze in.

[6:44] Ian Allred: Incorrect choice.

[6:52] Ian Allred: I'm telling you I'm on fire tonight.

[6:55] Ian Allred: Every win I want happens.

[6:56] Gracie: Wow, I'm going to go.

[6:58] Ian Allred: I'm going to play the lottery after this.

[7:00] Gracie: Perfect.

[7:01] Ian Allred: I hope this doesn't age poorly you saying that with the competitions that we have for you, you know, true.

[7:11] Ian Allred: It's like now this is this is before he found out.

[7:15] Ian Allred: Before disaster and being really happy about Emmy wins.

[7:20] Ian Allred: I'm speaking about Ian being really happy and being really sad about any competition happened.

[7:28] Gracie: So I miss the days when I would get on here and be like, I'm so mad.

[7:35] Gracie: Y'all are stupid but like really and truly.

[7:37] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[7:37] Ian Allred: Well, it's not that I'm like afraid to be rude.

[7:41] Ian Allred: It's more that like I all of the decisions are so hard that I can see both sides.

[7:47] Ian Allred: Now.

[7:48] Ian Allred: I'm I look at Gleek of the week from both sides now in the words of right circus.

[7:53] Ian Allred: The only crowds in an ice cream clouds.

[7:59] Gracie: I really know the black it.

[8:01] Ian Allred: I don't I don't know the black it at all.

[8:03] Gracie: There we go.

[8:03] Ian Allred: I don't know the black at all.

[8:05] Ian Allred: I really don't know the black at all.

[8:09] Ian Allred: The only one that I just like out now disagree with but even this one I get it.

[8:14] Ian Allred: I prefer chasing payments over him.

[8:16] Gracie: No way people are saying I love and I love Mercedes Jones and Amber Riley's the voice of a generation and she is really tearing that song up.

[8:25] Ian Allred: It strictly comes down to me to like context of the song and then also just personally as a person.

[8:32] Ian Allred: I like chasing payments more as a song.

[8:34] Ian Allred: It just means more to me.

[8:35] Ian Allred: But like I love ain't no way and she sounds amazing night of neglect is such a forgettable episode and kind of like.

[8:46] Ian Allred: It lifts right out of the series a bit like not much of importance happens in that episode besides like Terry officially resigning.

[8:55] Gracie: Although that's not no that's funeral.

[8:57] Ian Allred: I rescind that I rescind that I guess it's the last appearance of Sandy Ryerson, right?

[9:03] Gracie: But and is he me?

[9:04] Ian Allred: Oh, no, is he me?

[9:06] Ian Allred: Oh, anyway, is he me?

[9:07] Ian Allred: Is last appearance really trying to group anybody in?

[9:10] Ian Allred: I'm really talking out my ass.

[9:13] Ian Allred: I feel like a Xenia's last appearance is weirdly Asian F.

[9:18] Gracie: Yeah, I think you're right.

[9:19] Ian Allred: It's a random season.

[9:20] Ian Allred: It's like how Lauren's I see is although she isn't Sadie Hawkins, but like how Lauren's I see is technically is in run the world.

[9:26] Gracie: Yeah, you squint.

[9:27] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah, she's she's there.

[9:28] Ian Allred: It's yeah, she's pulling for me, but you were saying but so like ain't no way.

[9:36] Ian Allred: I just kind of forget about that number because I forget about that entire episode where as chasing pavements is a big climactic emotional moment both for Marley and for Rachel like you guys said during that episode Rachel and Kurt went to the Finn and Jesse school of talking during a song.

[9:55] Gracie: Yes, like the the dialogue lines make the number more iconic.

[10:00] Ian Allred: I just think it's really beautiful build.

[10:02] Ian Allred: I think I'm not a huge massive fan of the new Rachel which I know is slander around these parts.

[10:08] Ian Allred: Yeah, but I do think that that is a strong finish to a season premiere.

[10:12] Ian Allred: Yeah, and is really setting up new McKinley and New York.

[10:17] Gracie: I have two things to say weirdly enough.

[10:20] Gracie: I don't know why my brain was even like thinking about this in the first place or that it took so long for me to process this but the new Rachel as an episode title.

[10:29] Gracie: I didn't realize that was a double entendre.

[10:33] Ian Allred: Did you understand?

[10:34] Ian Allred: Am I is that makes right in this moment?

[10:38] Gracie: Are you saying it's like a New York but it's new race?

[10:41] Ian Allred: No, no, no, no, no, because it's like the new Rachel competition, but then we also get the new Rachel.

[10:44] Gracie: Oh, she's in college.

[10:49] Gracie: She's a college girl, right?

[10:51] Ian Allred: That's the intention.

[10:53] Ian Allred: I think you're correct.

[10:55] Gracie: My brain is really working in really mysterious ways.

[10:58] Ian Allred: I'm going to suck it but then also night and neglect is an episode as you were saying is like

[11:04] Ian Allred: I feel like there's so there were so many like to-do list items that they kind of just like

[11:10] Ian Allred: Forgot to do that night.

[11:13] Gracie: Oh my gosh.

[11:14] Ian Allred: Sunshine hasn't been on this show and hasn't 15 episode Tina needs her ones like actual like solo that's released on it.

[11:23] Gracie: One actual 20 seconds of a song.

[11:25] Ian Allred: Yeah, and then we also like need to have Sandy Ryerson back because we made a deal with Stephen Toblowski Cheyenne Jackson, of course needs to have a plot otherwise other than tots.

[11:38] Ian Allred: It's just it's it really feels like it is so out of place.

[11:45] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[11:46] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[11:46] Ian Allred: See season one.

[11:50] Ian Allred: McKinley versus Carmel like New Directions versus Vocal Adrenaline is such a key storyline in season one.

[11:59] Ian Allred: Like it is a big deal the entire time the threat of Vocal Adrenaline.

[12:02] Ian Allred: No matter what's happening is always present because Jesse's always present and then it feels like in season two the show just organically grew past that and the show became much more.

[12:10] Ian Allred: The conflict is not club versus club.

[12:14] Ian Allred: The conflict is internal.

[12:16] Ian Allred: It's the interpersonal relationships of these club members and then they got to the end of season two and we're like, oh shit.

[12:23] Ian Allred: We have Nationals coming up and we haven't actually set up Vocal Adrenaline at all.

[12:29] Ian Allred: And so Night of Neglect was like we need to really fast do as much Vocal Adrenaline as we possibly can in this one episode put in Cheyenne Jackson put in Sunshine Corazon.

[12:39] Ian Allred: We got to get also we're not even talking about Gwyneth Paltrow that also feels like a oh, yeah, she's like I forget that that's even in that that's like that's her season two exit.

[12:46] Gracie: Yeah, it's it's really odd.

[12:51] Ian Allred: But like now that I'm thinking about it.

[12:52] Ian Allred: Do you think that they like brought on Jake Cyrus at the beginning of season two to satisfy like almost like the big bad role because like they had to have known that they weren't going to be able to bring the acting that you know similarly Jonathan Groff was bringing the previous season.

[13:10] Ian Allred: When season two started Ryan Murphy had such big plans for season two that I'm not kidding.

[13:18] Ian Allred: I don't think he was thinking through the end line of these arcs.

[13:22] Ian Allred: He was just like this is an exciting idea and I'm going to do it.

[13:24] Ian Allred: Jake Cyrus is popping up.

[13:29] Ian Allred: Oprah's like this is the most talented singer in the entire world this space.

[13:29] Ian Allred: So I'm Murphy's like I'm going to put him on the show.

[13:32] Ian Allred: There was a while that Susan Boyle was supposed to be on season two as a lunch lady.

[13:37] Gracie: There was a while that Anne Hathaway was supposed to appear as Kurt's aunt like I don't be a lunch lady.

[13:45] Ian Allred: Who JLo?

[13:48] Gracie: No way not kidding.

[13:51] Ian Allred: It was supposed to be JLo and Susan Boyle and Marley's mom.

[13:56] Gracie: Behind the cafeteria bar.

[13:58] Ian Allred: Best friends JLo and Susan Boyle.

[14:01] Ian Allred: Move over on Holy Trinity.

[14:03] Ian Allred: This is this is this is mine.

[14:05] Ian Allred: Their chemistry is off the charts.

[14:09] Ian Allred: But like what was the other one?

[14:12] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah, we talked about this in our Connor episode.

[14:14] Ian Allred: Our episode with Connor is what I meant by that.

[14:17] Ian Allred: That was a weird way to phrase it.

[14:18] Ian Allred: Molly Shannon got brought on the show in season one because he was like I like Molly Shannon and she's going to have a big arc in season two.

[14:25] Ian Allred: Never happened.

[14:26] Ian Allred: So like I don't think that Jake Cyrus was brought on the show to be the big bad.

[14:31] Ian Allred: I think Jake Cyrus was brought on to the show because he was a buzzy celebrity at the time.

[14:36] Ian Allred: And I think he was intended to make more appearances.

[14:40] Ian Allred: I think he was supposed to like appear a lot but I think that it was always going to be like he was a an avatar for Rachel selfishness where like he was always something that was reminding her of what her ego can do to other people but they kind of forgot about it and then I still like the scene in Nationals with Sunshine and Rachel in the bathroom actually really like that scene right but it is much less effective because it's kind of like oh, yeah.

[15:07] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah.

[15:09] Ian Allred: I remember you.

[15:10] Ian Allred: I guess 21 episodes ago when you had a conversation in the bathroom.

[15:14] Gracie: Oh, you guys say telephone, right?

[15:19] Ian Allred: Yeah, it is interesting but Jack Jake Cyrus was supposed to apparently appear in the Super Bowl episode and saying meet me halfway.

[15:26] Gracie: Have you heard of this?

[15:34] Ian Allred: Wait, Jake Cyrus isn't even in Night of Neglect.

[15:38] Gracie: Am I correct?

[15:38] Ian Allred: He was supposed to be but it got cut.

[15:40] Ian Allred: No, no.

[15:41] Ian Allred: He's in that episode and sings all by myself.

[15:45] Gracie: Girl, you'd think I'd never seen this damn show in my life.

[15:48] Ian Allred: Jake Cyrus says, hey guys, I think I'm going to sing all by myself at the Night of Neglect and they're like, okay and then Jake Cyrus sings it.

[15:58] Ian Allred: Why not and then leaves and says I'm not watching your crappy numbers.

[16:03] Ian Allred: Well, I already sang it.

[16:04] Ian Allred: I guess I'm done.

[16:05] Ian Allred: Um, you're not getting it twice.

[16:08] Ian Allred: Uh, yeah, anyway, but I guess but you are correct there.

[16:12] Ian Allred: There is another number that Sunshine was supposed to perform in a different episode that got cut and it probably was Sisyphus or shuffle.

[16:18] Ian Allred: Yeah, and also weirdly shy and I remember reading that talking about with Kevin and Jenna like that Cheyenne that Dustin Goolsby and Shelby were supposed to be have a duet at the beginning of season 2 what the fuck?

[16:33] Ian Allred: Yeah, just really just just really random things.

[16:36] Ian Allred: Yeah, it's not so wild.

[16:39] Ian Allred: Anyway, that is wild.

[16:40] Ian Allred: So yeah, um Glocky grievances chasing pavement my other one is.

[16:49] Ian Allred: Dinosaur should not have won that matchup.

[16:51] Ian Allred: I'm not mad about it.

[16:53] Ian Allred: But dinosaur is so fun and I'm sick of people crapping on promisaurus.

[16:57] Ian Allred: I understand that prom queen is like they like they hit a home run in such a major way with their first school dance episode that like no school dance could ever live on to it ever.

[17:11] Ian Allred: But in a vacuum when you're not comparing it to prom queen.

[17:16] Ian Allred: Yeah, promisaurus is a really fun episode.

[17:19] Ian Allred: I love the idea of a dino prom.

[17:22] Ian Allred: I love dinosaur favorite number of the episode.

[17:24] Ian Allred: I love Britney riding a Cheerio as if she's Fred Flintstone and the Cheerio is a dinosaur.

[17:29] Ian Allred: I love the more I I feel like I didn't realize until dinosaur left the glacket that again,

[17:38] Ian Allred: I don't know if my brain's working in a weird way if it's good or if it's bad, but I was watching dinosaur back again and there when Britney sings the lyric I'm about to barf.

[17:50] Ian Allred: She's doing the thing seriously.

[17:53] Gracie: No, but like she's on the ground and she's like doing the weird like cat thing where like either cat cow.

[18:00] Ian Allred: Yeah, the cat like where it's like what would you even call that audio-media where you like arch your back your back and then like you arch your back out as it's a cat cow.

[18:09] Gracie: Like that's what that pose is called cat cow.

[18:12] Ian Allred: Yeah, because the cat is when you arch downwards.

[18:15] Gracie: No the cats when you arch upwards part of me like a cat stretching and the cow is when you arch downwards.

[18:20] Ian Allred: So do you think just my by me describing that right now?

[18:25] Ian Allred: Do you think that that was a reference to barfing?

[18:29] Gracie: Do you know what I'm saying? The cat cow like she's like heat like because she's singing the lyric.

[18:33] Gracie: I'm about to barf and she's doing it that at the same time.

[18:37] Ian Allred: It's like the the vomiting is so violent that it's causing her entire abdomen.

[18:41] Gracie: No, she's like she's like kind of like she's singing what the lyric is.

[18:46] Gracie: Like she's like I'm about to barf like she's doing the cat like the like like I think I like I see the vision.

[18:55] Ian Allred: Okay, honestly, I'm about to pull up a video of this.

[18:58] Ian Allred: Okay, I think I might be on to something but I think you are too.

[19:03] Ian Allred: Here we go. I'm about to barf seriously.

[19:06] Ian Allred: Oh, I see. Okay.

[19:10] Ian Allred: Okay, yeah, she's cat cowing.

[19:17] Gracie: Okay.

[19:20] Ian Allred: Okay.

[19:27] Ian Allred: I love when she kicks right after fossilized girl.

[19:31] Gracie: Yeah, so the vomit is so violent.

[19:32] Ian Allred: Yes that it's like causing her entire body to go.

[19:41] Gracie: Yeah, I I see the vision.

[19:45] Ian Allred: I see the vision.

[19:47] Ian Allred: It's like after you spend so much time talking about the hit Fox show Glee.

[19:50] Ian Allred: You can finally like unlock certain things which is really fun.

[19:54] Gracie: Yes.

[19:56] Ian Allred: So it's like the seventh layer seven layers deep into really understanding right?

[20:00] Ian Allred: Like I'm finally becoming an expert on the topic.

[20:04] Gracie: Exactly.

[20:05] Gracie: What do you have any other ones to to shed light on?

[20:10] Ian Allred: Is that it?

[20:16] Ian Allred: No, everything else. I really do agree with at the end of the day.

[20:20] Gracie: It's okay.

[20:20] Gracie: That's that's perfect fortunate.

[20:24] Ian Allred: Oh my God.

[20:24] Ian Allred: I mean like fortunately but unfortunately for discourse reasons content.

[20:30] Gracie: Wow.

[20:30] Gracie: No more content.

[20:34] Ian Allred: Okay.

[20:34] Ian Allred: Wait, so is there is there content within this question?

[20:40] Ian Allred: Do you what are you manifesting?

[20:44] Ian Allred: What are you hoping to see this evening?

[20:48] Ian Allred: I was listening to remaining songs and it was like truly a banger after banger after banger and I was like, okay, I kept being like I want to do this song and the next song would play to be like I want to do this song.

[21:01] Ian Allred: So like truly 80% of the songs left.

[21:05] Ian Allred: I would be thrilled to listen to I will say the two that stuck out to me is I'd love to get season 6 home because I hate that everyone has turned on that song.

[21:10] Ian Allred: I think everyone's miserable.

[21:12] Ian Allred: I think it's a very sincere very beautiful earnest song that number in Glee makes me cry almost every time I watch it really love to talk about it.

[21:18] Ian Allred: Beautiful song beautiful number.

[21:20] Gracie: It's when they it's one when the McCarthy twins are auditioning and everyone is cheering and screaming very that makes me really emotional.

[21:26] Ian Allred: Yeah, and then it's when it's just the whistle and it's the four newbies walking down the hallway.

[21:31] Ian Allred: But the whole number is great.

[21:33] Ian Allred: And then it's when it's Kraski and Blaine in the back of a big and that makes you cry for different reasons.

[21:38] Gracie: Yeah, and then I'm like, oh yeah, but the other one I want how much Rocky Horror is left.

[21:43] Ian Allred: Is it just we transvestite or is there more that might be that might be it?

[21:48] Ian Allred: I think sweet transvestite might be it.

[21:51] Gracie: Okay.

[21:52] Gracie: Well, I'm manifesting a Rocky Horror.

[21:56] Ian Allred: So if it has to be just we transvestite then girl, I hope it's her.

[22:01] Gracie: I'll take it.

[22:02] Ian Allred: Yeah, it is the season.

[22:03] Ian Allred: It's it's fall time a spooky season.

[22:06] Ian Allred: I also the reason that we're doing this so late is because I have rehearsal for Rocky Horror today jumping in.

[22:12] Ian Allred: So it's very much on the mind.

[22:14] Ian Allred: I'm very deep in Rocky Horror at the moment.

[22:17] Ian Allred: I would love to have a little Rocky Horror Glee Show moment.

[22:21] Ian Allred: I was watching the movie with the cast because a lot of them had never seen it and then it started and as a joke,

[22:26] Ian Allred: I said we could put on the Rocky Horror Glee Show immediate unanimous.

[22:31] Ian Allred: No, not even like laughter.

[22:34] Ian Allred: Immediate shut down.

[22:37] Gracie: Wait and these are from I would have only said I thought this was a safe space.

[22:41] Ian Allred: Hold on.

[22:41] Ian Allred: Hold on theater children theater kids.

[22:44] Ian Allred: Not I mean not children, but yeah, I was gonna say we're doing Rocky Horror.

[22:47] Ian Allred: So no not actual children.

[22:50] Ian Allred: They're all they're all legal adults, but um, but yes, the issue is a lot of them like Glee's after their time.

[22:56] Ian Allred: So they don't have the respect for it that because they're children of course because they're children.

[23:01] Gracie: Of course, right, right, right.

[23:03] Ian Allred: Uh-huh.

[23:03] Ian Allred: Yeah, a lot of them are like Glee came out when they were like college or full adults and so they never took it seriously like we did right.

[23:10] Gracie: They're not logging that they're not understanding the complexities of the new Rachel as a title.

[23:15] Ian Allred: They're not getting that it's all I am though.

[23:18] Ian Allred: However, I know you're being facetious, but I am dead serious there is to people who not everyone obviously but a lot of people that Glee premiered when they were adults.

[23:25] Ian Allred: They have an attitude towards the show that I'm like sincerely you don't get it like sincerely these critiques that you have of the show.

[23:31] Ian Allred: You actually don't realize that the show is aware of that and is lampshading it and is poking fun at itself and is satirizing that exact trope and I feel bad and I just I feel bad because you're missing out.

[23:43] Gracie: You're missing out.

[23:44] Ian Allred: Yes.

[23:46] Ian Allred: Yeah, it is sad.

[23:48] Gracie: Gosh.

[23:49] Ian Allred: Anyway, um perfect.

[23:51] Ian Allred: Is there anything else that you would like to add before we bring in our first Gleek?

[23:56] Ian Allred: I see that you're chatting.

[24:00] Andrew: Who I'm actively talking to.

[24:05] Ian Allred: If anyone is in the greater Virginia area and is looking for something to do come see the Rocky Horse.

[24:12] Gracie: I was like I was talking to Elias the other day.

[24:15] Gracie: I was like, oh like we could go see Ian and I think he's in Rocky Horror and then I looked up where it was and I'm like oh.

[24:20] Gracie: Mary it's eight hours away.

[24:23] Ian Allred: And we and yet still we were like,

[24:25] Ian Allred: I guess we could still feasibly to be determined.

[24:30] Ian Allred: There is an eight hour train you could take.

[24:33] Gracie: It is.

[24:34] Gracie: It's within the realm of possibilities.

[24:36] Ian Allred: Anyway, our first Gleek for this this very episode is Drew.

[24:42] Drew: Hello.

[24:43] Drew: Hello.

[24:46] Drew: Oh my gosh.

[24:48] Drew: Thank you so much for having me on.

[24:51] Andrew: Okay, wait. So last you were on last round, right?

[24:55] Drew: Yes, round two with Matt.

[24:59] Andrew: Matt. Yes.

[25:01] Andrew: And what was your your competition?

[25:04] Drew: Oh, it's it's clocking to me right now.

[25:06] Drew: I'm very boring.

[25:08] Drew: Don't know.

[25:09] Drew: Don't stop believing you had you had don't stop believing in your competition, but it was against not while I'm around.

[25:14] Drew: We are not alone.

[25:16] Drew: Not while I'm around.

[25:17] Drew: Yeah.

[25:18] Drew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[25:20] Andrew: It was a pretty easy competition.

[25:23] Drew: Speaking of competitions,

[25:25] Drew: what competitions would you like to shed light on since your last appearance that did not sit well with you?

[25:31] Drew: I think I said like my last time on here, but like I do believe I am a Galactic purist.

[25:36] Drew: So I love the integrity of the Galactic.

[25:39] Drew: I don't have anything.

[25:41] Drew: I take issue is there are songs that I am very sad that are gone, but I don't take issue that they are gone.

[25:46] Drew: I understand.

[25:47] Drew: This is what needs to happen.

[25:50] Andrew: Yeah, it's all part of the process.

[25:53] Drew: What songs are you sad to have left one that I don't think a lot of people talk about, which is I think in my top 10 songs is Americano Dance Again.

[25:59] Drew: It's really good.

[26:01] Drew: I love that one so much and I was so sad to see it go.

[26:05] Drew: I think like Dog Days Are Over took it out.

[26:09] Andrew: I believe.

[26:10] Drew: Yes.

[26:11] Drew: Yes.

[26:12] Drew: And I don't think we have any Kate Hudson numbers left.

[26:14] Andrew: I think that was it, right?

[26:16] Drew: We have There Are Worse Things I Could Do.

[26:20] Andrew: Which?

[26:21] Drew: Oh, yes.

[26:22] Drew: Sure.

[26:27] Andrew: Rating reviews!

[26:30] Drew: She's in a little trio.

[26:31] Drew: Yeah, I was very sad to see that one go.

[26:34] Andrew: Yeah.

[26:35] Andrew: Any other Galactic Insights before we do your competition?

[26:39] Drew: I'm in the camp as well that I really like Chasing Pavements.

[26:41] Drew: I like Marley numbers in general.

[26:44] Drew: So there's something about Marley's voice that just scratches an itch in my brain and it just brings me a lot of comfort and joy every time I hear her sing.

[26:54] Drew: So I'm sad that we don't have many of her left.

[27:00] Drew: I also think you guys put way too much hate on her original songs too.

[27:04] Drew: Like I'm here to defend Marley as a songwriter.

[27:09] Ian Allred: Oh, you have the platform.

[27:10] Drew: Wait, what is your argument?

[27:15] Drew: Marley is what I imagine like a high school person writing songs.

[27:20] Drew: Those are what they would write and how they would sound and they're just all about like finding friendship and like overcoming obstacles and they bring a lot of hope and joy and I don't know why we jump on and pile on the hate on that.

[27:34] Ian Allred: Wait, which one is your favorite?

[27:37] Drew: Because I guess there's technically three.

[27:39] Drew: We have you have more friends than you know Outkast and All or Nothing.

[27:44] Drew: Which one are you rising for most?

[27:47] Drew: All or Nothing is probably my favorite.

[27:49] Drew: I do suggest people listen to the mp3 over the mp4 because they cut it really badly on the show.

[27:57] Ian Allred: But the whole song as a whole like is really really good.

[28:02] Drew: I need to give it another listen.

[28:05] Ian Allred: You've convinced me.

[28:06] Drew: Okay.

[28:07] Drew: I know that we still have New York State of Mind left in the cup and I have a feeling that if Marley stands a chance to make it the furthest with any song, I think New York State of Mind is that girl for her.

[28:17] Ian Allred: How do you feel about that one Drew?

[28:20] Drew: Oh, I'm all for that one.

[28:22] Drew: One of my favorite memories was in New York City listening to that song on top of the Empire State Building and like having a full like moment with it.

[28:30] Ian Allred: Oh, I love that.

[28:32] Ian Allred: That's so cute.

[28:34] Drew: What are you manifesting for your competition today?

[28:39] Drew: I looked at the remaining songs and there is one that I kind of really want to fight for because I also think it's getting too much hate from a lot of people and that is We Are Young.

[28:55] Ian Allred: I agree.

[28:57] Ian Allred: What is with the hate?

[29:01] Drew: Famously, the song that changed everything.

[29:04] Ian Allred: The song that changed everything.

[29:06] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[29:07] Ian Allred: It is a banger song.

[29:09] Ian Allred: And I have arguments for that too because I can see the argument that I think they were going for and I don't think they were completely right about it.

[29:13] Drew: But it definitely was a changing moment for that one.

[29:18] Andrew: Of course to provide context.

[29:20] Andrew: We're talking about the Leigh and Michelle Jake Shane interview.

[29:23] Drew: In case it's going over anybody's head.

[29:27] Ian Allred: Okay, great.

[29:29] Ian Allred: We Are Young.

[29:31] Ian Allred: That's the manifestation.

[29:33] Drew: Yes, I'm hoping.

[29:35] Ian Allred: Okay.

[29:36] Ian Allred: So you said Marley original song.

[29:39] Ian Allred: Of course we have no Marley original songs left.

[29:40] Ian Allred: But we do have this original song.

[29:45] Ian Allred: Okay.

[29:46] Ian Allred: Okay.

[29:52] Ian Allred: Let me find her.

[29:56] Drew: Oh, that's my guess.

[29:58] Drew: It is not her.

[30:00] Drew: You can see what it is.

[30:01] Andrew: No, what's your guess?

[30:02] Drew: Well, even I haven't looked at the name.

[30:04] Gracie: It's pretending.

[30:05] Ian Allred: It's pretending.

[30:06] Gracie: It is NOT pretending.

[30:08] Andrew: It's Light Up the World, then.

[30:10] Gracie: Is it Light Up the World?

[30:11] Ian Allred: It's Light Up the World.

[30:13] Andrew: I would so much rather listen to Light Up the World. Hell yeah!

[30:17] Gracie: Ba da ba da bum.

[30:19] Andrew: Okay.

[30:23] Ian Allred: That was so good.

[30:24] Gracie: Really amazing.

[30:28] Andrew: Who wants to begin the discourse with Light Up the World?

[30:31] Ian Allred: I'll go.

[30:33] Ian Allred: I really love that.

[30:36] Ian Allred: I love that it was spread out through so many members of the Gleek Club.

[30:44] Ian Allred: There were so many featurettes in there. The one thing that I think is always trying to be sold to us about New Directions is that whenever they perform, they always have the heart, they have the joy, and that's what carries them over other Gleek Clubs is that factor.

[31:04] Ian Allred: And I think that's on full display on that number.

[31:07] Gracie: Yeah, I totally agree. I love that so many different voices are featured here.

[31:12] Gracie: Britney, specifically, I'm like, ooh, I like that she's featured at nationals.

[31:18] Gracie: It's cute.

[31:19] Ian Allred: And she does her own little dance, too.

[31:21] Gracie: It's cute.

[31:22] Andrew: Ian, what are you thinking?

[31:25] Ian Allred: Chat wants to know if this is Heather Morris's best vocal.

[31:28] Ian Allred: I would say it's definitely in the running for best vocal of Heather Morris.

[31:33] Gracie: Hell yeah.

[31:34] Ian Allred: Heather Morris? Queen Fabré cut her hair into a bob and showed up to nationals mad as hell.

[31:43] Ian Allred: She is pissed off this whole song, and I'm obsessed.

[31:49] Ian Allred: It's crazy. When Diana locks in, she really locks in.

[31:54] Ian Allred: And that's what's amazing about it. It's not like she's furious and throwing the competition. It's like she's so mad that she's going to dance as hard as she can.

[32:05] Ian Allred: Everyone else has sassy moments. But then, like Drew was saying, overall, they have this buoyant, joyful energy. Queen Fabré stank-faced her way through this entire number, and I love her for it.

[32:19] Ian Allred: She is furious. She just watched her ex-boyfriend lose the competition for them by kissing the girl he broke up with her for.

[32:29] Ian Allred: And she's irate. I want to bring this up. I don't know if we've talked about this before, but when watching Light Up the World specifically, I'm thinking because Rachel and Finn kiss at the front of the stage, but the rest of the New Directions are faced away from them.

[32:50] Ian Allred: Do the New Directions know?

[32:54] Gracie: The audience just really hated that song.

[32:56] Ian Allred: They recognize a turkey when they hear one. Do you think someone needed to have turned around and been like, I think Queen Fabré.

[33:06] Gracie: You think Queen Fabré? Okay.

[33:09] Ian Allred: I think Lucy Queen Fabré turned around, and that's why everyone else is having a good time. And she's like, I know something you don't know.

[33:16] Ian Allred: These mofos kissed and they ruined the competition. When we're done our set list, I am going to tell you something. I'm about to drop a bomb.

[33:24] Ian Allred: I'm going to drop a bomb on y'all. I'm going to blow your minds. We did not do as well as you think.

[33:30] Ian Allred: As a Glee Club. You know how no one clapped? It wasn't because they were speechless at the lyrics of that song. I'll tell you that much.

[33:40] Ian Allred: Queen's like, I know the sound of those lips. I've kissed those lips. I've kissed those lips so many times. I know what they sound like. I've kissed both of those lips. I know what they sound like.

[33:53] Ian Allred: I remember when we pulled this song last round, it was an Abby episode. And she planted an idea in my head, which I really love. Because she's headcanon Queen Abby. Is that this is a Santana original song. She wrote this. About Britney.

[34:14] Gracie: So you've already been new. I listen to this podcast.

[34:18] Ian Allred: Of course. Remember when we talked about that on this very podcast?

[34:24] Gracie: Yeah.

[34:26] Ian Allred: So anyway, I think that's fun. I see the vision there. And I do. When I listen to the song, I do view it through that lens.

[34:36] Ian Allred: Well, Santana can have Rachel have all the spotlight. Drew, are you liking this more than Loser Like Me Season 2? Where do you stand on this?

[34:48] Drew: Yes, I do like this more than Loser Like Me Season 2.

[34:52] Drew: Yeah. I just think it's more fun. I don't know. There's something about it.

[35:00] Drew: It's like 2011 complimentary.

[35:02] Ian Allred: Yes.

[35:04] Drew: This is 2011 pop. Where every song had a club beat. And it was about like, tonight is the night. We are young. Let's do this tonight. Like every single song.

[35:16] Drew: It is like a hot chill ray. Kesha. Like all of those artists. Someone just fed all of their songs into a machine. And it spit this song out.

[35:26] Drew: And I do. As an original song hater. I like this song.

[35:30] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[35:32] Drew: I really do like that genre. The most important thing in our entire lives. Is what happens this evening. This very night. This night is more important. Let's get some and live while we're young.

[35:46] Gracie: Right.

[35:48] Andrew: Right.

[35:50] Ian Allred: Right. Any further things that we need to say about Light Up The World?

[35:54] Ian Allred: There is a famous gif, however you say it, of Rachel doing her little straight arm jump. Where she is like essentially doing jumping jacks, but with her legs together going.

[36:10] Ian Allred: And someone put a coin box from Mario above her head. And every time she jumps a coin pops out. And that is ingrained in my mind.

[36:18] Gracie: Maybe. I actually might be thinking of Loser Like Me. Hold up.

[36:24] Drew: But she does do a jump in this one too.

[36:26] Ian Allred: I think you are right. And I think that is carousel slide number five. And if it is Loser Like Me, I am admitting I am wrong here and now.

[36:34] Gracie: Also what cracks me up about this number is Rachel at the end just riffs, which is nothing new. She always does that.

[36:44] Gracie: But the blocking is Rachel is not actually like singing words. She is just going like. And the blocking is everyone is in an inverse triangle formation doing matching choreography while Rachel frantically runs right and left across the front of the stage over and over while belting an ah vowel.

[37:06] Gracie: And on camera it looks great. But the image of just seeing the entire stage at once of this single girl doing laps while screaming makes me laugh every time I watch this number.

[37:18] Ian Allred: They only had a night to choreograph that. Rachel you don't pick up choreography well. So just do whatever the fuck you want. Just do laps.

[37:24] Drew: Just do laps. Get the steps in.

[37:30] Ian Allred: I do want to bring up. I looked up just now what Light Up the World beat to get here. And it has had some pretty crazy competitions. Round one beat Edge of Glory.

[37:44] Ian Allred: And round two beat Locked Out of Heaven. Which, I disagree with that so much. No one gets locked out of heaven like I get locked out of heaven.

[37:56] Gracie: I think that number is one of season four's best. It's one of season four's best.

[38:02] Ian Allred: I know that Lena also shares that opinion.

[38:04] Gracie: Yes. I'm so sorry. I'm literally responding to a message in the chat as I talk. So I'm a little frazzled right now.

[38:12] Ian Allred: That's great. I'm talking about Ann Juliet. The Broadway show in the chat. And I'm talking about Locked Out of Heaven from Glee on the screen.

[38:22] Ian Allred: The moment they all slam their mic stands on the ground is genuinely. It makes me feel alive. I feel like my blood's on fire. It's so good.

[38:36] Ian Allred: And the harmonies that Alex Newell is doing in that number. I'm a Sadie Hawkins relative fan. I liked that episode enough. But specifically the songs in Sadie Hawkins, bangers all around.

[38:48] Drew: Writers best solos in Sadie Hawkins. Locked Out of Heaven, the best group numbers of season 4.

[38:56] Ian Allred: The song that Marley and Brittany sing. Oh my gosh. Tell them.

[39:02] Drew: Top 3 Brittany songs for sure. Maybe top 1.

[39:06] Ian Allred: Heather Morris's best vocal for sure.

[39:08] Drew: Heather Morris's best vocal. And then even the dude singing Scrubs is so fun. The music in that episode is incredible.

[39:20] Ian Allred: You're missing 2 songs actually. Don't forget about Tina singing I Don't Know How to Love Him about a homosexual man.

[39:28] Gracie: I know you're not talking about gay Blaine.

[39:30] Ian Allred: What am I missing?

[39:32] Gracie: You're missing. You're missing.

[39:36] Ian Allred: A lot of people's worst song of the series. Drew do you happen to know what song?

[39:40] Drew: People do say this. And you'll know. Are you ready?

[39:48] Ian Allred: It's Baby Got Back.

[39:50] Drew: Someone in the chat said Baby Got Back.

[39:52] Gracie: Girl, New York isn't in that episode.

[39:54] Gracie: I don't care about Adam. I don't want to see his apple.

[39:58] Ian Allred: I really just blocked that whole storyline out. But I think it's like, controversy aside, Baby Got Back. I'm kind of over the hate.

[40:12] Ian Allred: I have fun. I don't hate it as much as other people do. It's actually not that bad. What do we think?

[40:20] Drew: I'm just a hater on season 4. New York in general. It's not for me and that's okay.

[40:28] Ian Allred: They really needed to split it up into two series. It would have worked so much better if it was split up into two series.

[40:36] Drew: And they did what like Grey's Anatomy or like Chicago did. Where they just guest star in each others' series back and forth.

[40:48] Ian Allred: Yeah. And to save money, cut down the songs too. Two per episode for each series.

[40:58] Drew: I would have been sad about that. But it makes financial sense to cut down the songs.

[41:04] Ian Allred: Now I'm thinking about Adam. I feel like people aren't talking about Adam as much as they should.

[41:10] Ian Allred: Adam to me, we don't know what we were doing with him off screen. We don't know what we were doing with that. There was legs there. He was interesting. Really sexy to me, I'll say.

[41:24] Drew: He's good. He's a handsome man.

[41:28] Ian Allred: Brody deserved way better. Brody I was like, you ran your course. I would have loved to have seen Brody continue to be Indiana as he promised.

[41:40] Drew: We will not be. You don't need to worry about that baby. It's not going to come up ever again.

[41:46] Ian Allred: Adam I thought was interesting.

[41:50] Drew: No.

[41:52] Ian Allred: Sure. What I like about Adam is I like the New York plot. And Boys and Girls on Film when they are.

[42:00] Ian Allred: Although Adam isn't. He's just talked about. But he's not really in that plot. He is there. But that is my favorite New York plot of the season. The four of them snowed into the apartment.

[42:18] Drew: And Adam is a crucial part of that. He gets points in my book for that episode specifically. One of three episodes he's in.

[42:30] Ian Allred: Two. Is he in a third?

[42:34] Drew: He's in Diva. Bring him home.

[42:38] Ian Allred: Three. I think the idea that the Glee Club at Nyada would be the lowest tier just like everywhere else. I think it had legs to it if they really played it.

[42:54] Drew: I agree Drew. Nyada had a lot of really funny concepts that they never developed as much as I would have liked them to.

[43:06] Ian Allred: I think that's so funny. The show choir kids are losers even among performing arts kids.

[43:12] Ian Allred: Also speaking of Diva, I think the Midnight Club and how seriously everyone takes it is hysterical. Whenever they're willing to poke fun at theater majors in college and how seriously they take their craft, I find that hysterical.

[43:30] Drew: They do it every once in a while. I wish they had leaned into it a lot more. It would have been much more on board for the Nyada stuff.

[43:38] Ian Allred: Reeling it back in. I'm thinking about how we even got here. Of course we're talking about Light Up The World.

[43:44] Drew: Of course.

[43:48] Ian Allred: Obviously. In case you forgot what song we were talking about just now. Light Up The World, which beat Locked Out Of Heaven featuring Adam's Apple.

[44:02] Ian Allred: We were talking about Adam's episode, Diva, which he famously did appear in where they sang Bring Him Home for that Midnight Club.

[44:12] Gracie: It all makes sense. Six degrees of Glee. Six degrees of Light Up the World. We're going to see if we can make the next song about Adam as well.

[44:24] Ian Allred: I really hope so. You pull up Moulin Rouge and then it's done for us.

[44:30] Drew: This is silly.

[44:32] Ian Allred: This is so silly. Ian you were here for this in round two. So repeat offender in your book.

[44:40] Ian Allred: And people were kind of upset that this.

[44:46] Drew: That's half of my competitions in round two. That could be any of them.

[44:52] Ian Allred: Here it is. Audio medium we're looking at. Oh and I stand by it. L-O-V-E is a fun song. Sorry everyone.

[45:02] Ian Allred: Sorry you hate Tina and Mike. Sorry you hate Sugar Mata. Love. Love.

[45:10] Ian Allred: I'm glad they told us the title of the song, by the way. That was love. By the way on iTunes. You need to look up love. L-O-V-E.

[45:20] Ian Allred: L-O-V-E. L-O-V-E. Love. What do we have to say about this performance?

[45:30] Drew: I think Mike and Tina are the perfect couple to be singing this song.

[45:34] Ian Allred: Yeah. Possibly. Mike's best vocal.

[45:42] Drew: I agree. It is kind of like to the detriment of these two characters that they make Mike and Tina just like the stable couple in the group.

[45:50] Drew: And therefore they give them love storylines. But the plus side of that is I agree with you Drew. They make perfect sense for this number. They are like the two who are most in love. And also God they are so charming. And they sound so beautiful together.

[46:12] Ian Allred: I really like this number. It's cute.

[46:16] Gracie: Oh did anybody catch Jennifer Lopez and Susan Boyle when they were in the cafeteria? They were going at it.

[46:22] Ian Allred: I was like this is a kids show. Their beef is crazy.

[46:26] Drew: In more ways than one.

[46:28] Ian Allred: Their beef is crazy.

[46:32] Gracie: What? I'm talking about food.

[46:36] Ian Allred: Their cafeteria. What do you think I'm talking about?

[46:40] Gracie: We can move on. Clearly your mind didn't go where I thought it did. So we actually can move away from it.

[46:46] Ian Allred: Alright. I thought it was a clean, fun cafeteria lady joke. But I guess not.

[46:54] Ian Allred: LOVE. Wait do you remember what this controversial competition was? What was it against?

[47:02] Drew: I do not remember what it was against. Let me look it up.

[47:08] Drew: It was. This is controversial. It's for the only one I see.

[47:14] Ian Allred: Right.

[47:16] Drew: Go Your Own Way.

[47:18] Ian Allred: Oh. It's for the only one. And lest we forget that was I think, check Elijah's document. I'm pretty sure that was a unanimous vote. Everybody voted for LOVE.

[47:30] Ian Allred: And while I voted for LOVE, I was the only one who said, but I don't think we're giving enough appreciation to Go Your Own Way. So while I did vote against Go Your Own Way, I did vocally recognize that it's a banger song and a banger moment.

[47:44] Drew: And of course the Instagram poll reflects 66% people wanted Go Your Own Way.

[47:52] Ian Allred: Classic. And you know what? It did go its own way to hell anyway.

[47:56] Drew: Yeah. I know that Damien McGinty famously is no longer in the Glacket because we sent Take Care of Yourself away but he is because he's in this number.

[48:08] Ian Allred: Right. And Sugarmatta is also in this number. I know it's probably going to go away today. But he is still in it as of today.

[48:14] Drew: He's not doing well because part of what we're missing if you're listening to the mp3 of LOVE, yes it's fun and great because Jenna Ushkowitz is singing down. And yes because Harry Shum is harmonizing for his life.

[48:30] Ian Allred: Who really takes this number over the edge is the Sugar. I almost said Damien. The Sugar Rory and Artie of it all is in fact Sugar's best episode of the series.

[48:42] Drew: Oh without a doubt. And it's also Rory's best episode, which is not saying much.

[48:46] Ian Allred: But we sure it is saying much because she's fun.

[48:52] Drew: Is this Rory's? Give me an episode that's a better Rory wise you into him being Scratchy the Christmas Elf. Is that his best episode?

[49:00] Ian Allred: And actually, you're the glue ugly. I think when he... Good utilization of his character I thought was like very fun.

[49:10] Drew: No there are two things I know about Rory Flanagan. He's Irish. He is horny. And both of those things are used very well and very effectively in this episode.

[49:24] Ian Allred: He is horny for Sugar. Gets in a one upmanship competition with Artie because he wants to date Sugar. And then he pulls out the Irish card and says they're about to send me back home girl. This is my last Valentine. Here you better go on a date with me. It is like maybe the only Rory storyline that has any humor in it for me.

[49:50] Drew: Yeah I like it.

[49:52] Ian Allred: Which I always thought he was lying.

[49:54] Drew: I agree.

[49:56] Ian Allred: Drew I think it is supposed to be. I don't know I don't think it is supposed to be a lie but I have always read it as a lie as well.

[50:04] Drew: Okay. Is it a lie because okay. So what we now know about Damien is that he was offered to come back in season four. But he already saw the writings on the wall. And he was like I already see how I'm being utilized at the end of season three. I want out.

[50:20] Ian Allred: And so I guess he was lying. Like the character Rory lied about being deported. And then she got deported.

[50:34] Drew: Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it all.

[50:40] Ian Allred: Right, yeah. I always my read on this episode was that he is lying about it but then like a few episodes later he is like well I am going to have to go back to Ireland so I don't really know.

[51:00] Drew: Yeah because Rory, I mean because I'm calling Rory Damien. I'm calling Damien Rory because Damien turned on season four. I believe that it was written to be a lie. And then he said he wasn't going to come back. And they're like okay I guess that's true then. Bye.

[51:18] Ian Allred: Yeah which really does. Obviously he does come back for the glue of Glee.

[51:24] Drew: The glue of Glee.

[51:26] Ian Allred: But I love that his last line in season three is I pricked my thumb during the Tina costume making scene. That's his last line.

[51:38] Drew: Is in props.

[51:40] Ian Allred: In props. They don't even let him speak in the next two episodes.

[51:44] Drew: They don't let him talk, no.

[51:46] Ian Allred: That's crazy poor guy.

[51:48] Drew: I pricked my thumb.

[51:50] Ian Allred: Crazy. I mean good for him for getting out because I truly, truly yesterday was thinking about poor old Samuel Larson who was like hell yeah I'm sure I'll have a bigger character arc. And then season four ends. He has been absent for like five straight episodes.

[52:02] Drew: Welcome back.

[52:04] Ian Allred: Season four ends. He calls him up and he's like hey. I know season five is coming up. I just wanted to say I'm thinking of cutting my hair. Do you guys have any opinions? And they're like do whatever the fuck you want. We don't care.

[52:20] Drew: We really don't give a fuck.

[52:22] Ian Allred: Damn you still have our number. I imagine in that moment where he was like oh great. I really want to cut my hair. Yeah I get to cut my hair. Oh no.

[52:34] Drew: Oh no.

[52:36] Ian Allred: When it starts setting in that they're letting him cut his hair.

[52:40] Drew: Yeah.

[52:42] Ian Allred: Him trying to be like responsible actor. I'm going to get it cleared with hair and makeup first. And they literally are like who are you? I don't care. Why would I care about your hair?

[52:56] Drew: Oh my god.

[52:58] Ian Allred: And then they had to work it into season six, which is the best Joe joke in the series. I love that joke.

[53:02] Drew: Yeah.

[53:04] Ian Allred: But also, what other Joe jokes are we really looking at here?

[53:10] Drew: Um. He says something funny when the Grease Castle gets posted. Doesn't he?

[53:16] Ian Allred: Kitty says who the hell is Patty Simcox? He has like a funny response. The fact that I can't remember what the response is.

[53:24] Drew: Wait.

[53:26] Ian Allred: It really speaks to the joke. It's very funny.

[53:30] Drew: He says something to Kitty because they're both religious. It's like something. And then she retorts with shut it Avatar.

[53:38] Ian Allred: Yeah. I know that.

[53:40] Drew: Maybe that's what I'm remembering.

[53:42] Ian Allred: Is that she says shut it Avatar, which is not a Joe joke.

[53:48] Ian Allred: Drew is singing All Coming Back to Me Now. And he's in the wings emoting and doing armography.

[54:00] Drew: What? Drew you don't know about this?

[54:02] Ian Allred: What are you talking about?

[54:04] Drew: Drew do you know about this? In All Coming Back to Me Now, season three, there is a wide shot of Lea Michele singing her little heart out. And you can see Samuel Larson and I think of Kevin McHale.

[54:18] Ian Allred: And Samuel Larson is literally like, baby, baby. But he's not because there are a few select backup singers that come out. He is in the wings.

[54:30] Ian Allred: He is not on stage. It is. I imagine Samuel Larson had been standing there for two hours and was just messing around. And it made the episode.

[54:42] Drew: That's really iconic.

[54:44] Ian Allred: Talking about Samuel Larson, I think he's a funny guy.

[54:48] Drew: Oh he's yeah. There's a few moments on the Glee Project that I'm like, you're silly. You sure aren't letting them see it. You secretly have a sense of humor in there.

[54:56] Ian Allred: I mean he did famously the whole skadoosh skate.

[55:04] Drew: Girl.

[55:06] Ian Allred: Skadoosh skate.

[55:08] Drew: Skadoosh skate.

[55:10] Ian Allred: Which if you know, you know.

[55:20] Drew: Wow. They were really trying to get drama out of anywhere.

[55:24] Ian Allred: Stephanie in the chat is begging us to explain.

[55:30] Drew: Is her name Hannah?

[55:32] Ian Allred: Hannah yes.

[55:34] Drew: Okay so Glee Project. There's a girl named Hannah who is the funny girl of the cast. Her catchphrase is she always goes skadoosh as if she is Jack Black.

[55:46] Ian Allred: Which honestly, I am in the skadoosh skate of it all. I am team Hannah.

[55:52] Ian Allred: Samuel Larson. Taking a firm stance. I'm sitting here with my whole chest. 10 toes down on team Hannah in skadoosh skate.

[56:00] Ian Allred: Samuel Larson goes into the booth to sing whatever. Whatever I don't remember. To sing You Can't Touch This. Specifically You Can't Touch This is supposed to be silly because they are calling back to Bad Reputation.

[56:16] Ian Allred: They ask him if he can freestyle on it. He is freestyle scatting basically. At the end of it, he goes skadoosh.

[56:24] Drew: Nikki Anders specifically is like I loved when you said skadoosh.

[56:28] Ian Allred: Called it out specifically. Oh my god. Then Samuel Larson comes back on his high horse like on cloud nine. Oh my gosh I had the best day in the studio today. They loved me. I said skadoosh and they ate it up.

[56:46] Ian Allred: They specifically said they loved that I said skadoosh. And then cut to Hannah aghast. And then it has a Hannah talking head where she is like I'm just really upset because that's kind of my thing.

[57:00] Ian Allred: And Samuel took it. And once again I am team Hannah because I have been that kid where no one hears it but one person. And then that one person repeats it and everyone laughs. And then they don't have the decency to say oh actually I got that joke from Ian. They just take the fucking credit.

[57:16] Drew: So I am team Hannah.

[57:18] Ian Allred: Although she did not come up with skadoosh. Jack Black did. But still.

[57:22] Drew: It was her catchphrase.

[57:26] Ian Allred: Is the true victim here.

[57:28] Drew: Jack Black.

[57:30] Ian Allred: Jack Black. That's exactly what he was doing too. And Drew I think you are correct because the other big Samuel Larson thing is Mr. Cameron, who is Ryan's clear favorite.

[57:42] Ian Allred: He quits the competition. And Ryan's whole shtick, I mean sorry, Cameron's whole shtick is that he is very religious. And he quits the competition.

[57:56] Drew: And then the next week Ryan Murphy is like Samuel, what are your tattoos about? And Samuel is like so this one is a bible verse. And you see Ryan prick up his ears. And then you see the wheel start turning in Samuel Larson's head.

[58:12] Ian Allred: And he is like wait. You really like Cameron. And Cameron was super into Jesus. And so suddenly Samuel Larson is like oh yeah my spirituality is really important to me. And I really love God.

[58:26] Drew: And I am not saying that is incorrect. But I agree with you Drew. He is a smart guy. He was playing the game.

[58:34] Ian Allred: And I am not highlighting that from now on. I do want to draw attention to the fact that I feel like Cameron is the Adam of L.O.V.E. You know what I mean.

[58:40] Drew: No not at all.

[58:42] Ian Allred: We reached Adam with Light Up The World. And now Cameron. Do you understand what I am saying?

[58:48] Drew: Yes he is the end of the train.

[58:50] Ian Allred: Once we finally reached Cameron, he is the end of the train.

[58:54] Drew: He is the end of the train.

[58:56] Ian Allred: Once we finally reached Cameron from L.O.V.E., then we know that we officially reached discourse.

[59:04] Drew: No because I have one more thought on Samuel Larson.

[59:10] Ian Allred: I would really love to hear it.

[59:12] Drew: Yeah. Which this is his first episode right?

[59:16] Ian Allred: Yes.

[59:18] Drew: It all ties back in.

[59:20] Ian Allred: So it is on topic. The moment in the Glee Project, you are secretly a funny guy. There is a moment, God love them, all those kids were so young. They were put in a very volatile environment. Sometimes they have ugly parts of themselves come out. I don't begrudge them for it. They were very young and they were on television in a very stressful environment. Alex Newell. You can tell, at least my read of it, I can't tell but my read of it, is Alex Newell is feeling very self-conscious in a certain situation and is trying to overcompensate by bragging a little.

[1:00:00] Ian Allred: And it's essentially like saying to Samuel Larson, something about like, listen to how amazing I can sing this number, like, don't I sound good? Aren't I the best singer here? And it could be trying to get a rise out of Samuel Larson, I think even like sings it straight into his face. And Samuel Larson's response is he goes, hell yeah, dude, and just gives him a double thumbs up and walks away. And that is the most amazing way to diffuse a situation I have ever seen. That is really good. Oh, yeah, you're right. You're so talented. Anyways, see you. Have a good night. I'm not gonna disagree with you. You're Alex Newell. Yeah, yeah, you're Tony award winner Alex Newell. I know. And with that, are we ready to vote between these two songs?

I guess. I do want to say Tina's fit is gorgeous. Yeah, it's really, really Carrie Anne in the chat commented that Mike is wearing a Kurt fit. And I agree. Kurt Hummel. There's I just say that receiving a gift as a dog as a gift is a very inconvenient gift to give someone. I so agree. I'd be mad as hell. I'd be so mad. And I okay, so I'm of like two minds of like, okay, so already. I understand it's a TV show. I just want to preface it with this already gives sugar a like what that is something like a schnauzer. The plush stuff dog. Yeah. And then Rory gives that same schnauzer actually actualized dog to sugar. And I'm like, it's the same dog. I don't know where what I'm saying right now. But like, it almost seems like you guys planned this.

Do you know what I'm saying? Where I'm like, it's, it would be one thing if it was like two separate dogs. Is this making sense? But it's also a TV show like I love schnauzers. There we go. Yeah, Rory. So I think, yes, yeah, I like we're going with this. Rory saw that already was getting that plush. He's following him around. Yeah, yeah. And then like to the pound and like, I need that dog. That dog specifically, I'm gonna want out. There we go. He bought the exact plushy that already bought because he didn't know what kind of dog it was. He brought it to the pound and says, Can you give me this with a heart? I was thinking like this. Yeah. Like, we really usually don't sell dogs like that. But we'll find one.

Okay, so are we officially at a close for LOV discourse? Unless we got more thoughts on the Glee Project, I guess, I guess. I know, I actually know what I want to do. Drew, did you watch the Glee Project? I did watch the Glee Project. It's having a resurgence right now, right? I've been seeing a lot of commentary from former Glee Project members on Tick Tock. Yeah, I didn't know that. I love to well, because people, people published full episodes to Tick Tock to Tick Tock. Did you? And so people were just sitting down and watching it. Good. Yeah. Stay informed to be educated. Did you watch it live, Drew? Or were you like me and watched it 10 years later? I think I watched it live. I remember I had to like do research on how to watch it because I don't think I had that channel.

Yeah, because it's on like freaking oxygen or something like that. Yeah. And it's like not on stream. There was no DVD. There was no hard media of it. And it's not on streaming anywhere. And so it's really the lost text. They want us to forget. That's unjust. Never, never. We will never forget. Never. Let Hannah have her moment. Let her have her skadoosh. Let her have her skadoosh for once. Please. I do think about, I'm so sorry, we can't vote. We can't. I think about the people who are discovering Glee who have no context for the Glee Project, and what their thought process must be about like, why are we giving this Irish kid and this Jesus boy so much screen time? Like, what's the point of this?

It's not really going anywhere. They are, Ryder, frankly, although I don't find him an interesting character, is a very smooth integration, where like, you would have no idea that he won a competition. But the four Glee Project kids on season three are so, the way each of them are introduced is so clunky. I guess not really unique. The other three, the way they're introduced is so clunky that it is like, should I know who this is? Yeah, it's like a special guest star. It's like a celebrity. Yeah, yes. Like if Harmony was in more episodes, I would feel like it was more natural. But she's such a big deal and then disappears that you're like, is this a celebrity I haven't heard of? Who was that?

Yeah, like, we just knew she was gonna be Elphaba in a few years. So yeah, watch this space. Yeah. Who I guess? Yeah. Unique definitely did have like the most like seamless kind of like introduction. It made sense. Yeah. And then obviously, especially because she goes on to stay on the show. It feels natural. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, I remember watching Pot of Gold live and especially because like it came right after my Baby Girl episode, Asian F that I was like, what are we doing? Why are we? And it's so bizarre. Yeah. Finish your thoughts. Sorry. No, it's just like, it's just like, it feels it's just so weird to just like the a plot being about this new character that is so like, out of this world that it doesn't feel like true.

Like we haven't seen that before where it's like, hey, we're going to introduce the character going to give him the a plot and essentially like replace Mercedes in a way and like, I don't believe that. What are you doing? And then from this point onward, he will speak so little that in his last two episodes, he won't even talk. Yeah, yeah. But I think that like, they they did try things with Rory. But I think that they they found that the things that they were trying weren't working. And so then they just gave up. You know what I mean? Yeah, I've always said. Season one of the Glee Project, there was no acting challenge. Yeah. There's a reason they put in an acting challenge in season two. Right.

They learned from their mistakes. Yeah. Okay. We actually need to see if these kids can deliver some dialogue. Yeah. Yeah. This next episode after Pot of Gold also was the musical episode two, right? Right. And I had to do that accent. That was like almost like an in joke. Yeah. Which is frankly, a good Rory joke. When he's just like, our eyes open, because we got to work on that kid's addiction. That is a good line. It's good. Yeah, it works. Yeah. And with that. Now, are we ready to talk about the project, please? Yeah. Something else. You got to keep David McGinty in the Glock get longer. Um, season two, better season two, the Glee Project's better. I could I remember season one more. But that doesn't mean it's better.

I really like in season two, the the movie trailer episode where they did perfect. Do you remember this? Is that the one where like, Eileen is trying to like sneak out of her house? It's so iconic. And then like, Lillie Mae, Lillie Mae hit. Lillie Mae was in a car accident with Ali Stroker. Yeah. It's just so good. And then when when they're doing when they're doing the the scene of like Lillie Mae, like because it's just like the homework assignment that not the homework assignment. The music video is essentially a trailer. And so award winning director Eric White is like Lillie Mae. You like just just riff just improv of like, like this accident that Ali was involved in. And she goes crazy.

She dropped so much lore that Eric White needs to come in and like, actually, like, let's reel it in a little bit. Let's be a little bit more specific about it. Yeah, I love it. It's it's really I don't care. I worked out building a world. Yeah, sorry. I'm building a movie right now. Yeah. Excuse me for playing a three dimensional character. Sorry, my favorite. The reason I think of season one more is because my favorite moment in the entire Glee project is it is the most choir kid thing that has ever been caught on camera. Is when Mateo and Alex get in a huge fight. Mateus, thank you. Yeah, when Mateus and Alex get in a huge fight over whose falsetto goes higher. It's so they are like, like feelings are hurt.

Yeah, yes. Because they like cannot convince the other one that they have a higher falsetto. That is television. Speaking of the Emmys, where's that at? We need a retroactive Emmy. Come on. Um, I'm gonna ask one last time. Are we ready to vote? Remind me. I feel bad. I feel bad for our next Glee. No, that's so true. I'm not I'm not really sure what time zone we're working with with with Gracie. Okay, wait. So the competition again, Drew is a way to light up the world versus LVE. Do you remember that? I'm gonna vote. Yeah, I'm gonna vote light up the world. Ian, you better give up the dog. The bark and bite part of me. I'm doing light of the world. Yeah. Also, we didn't even say it. But obviously, the legal note, of course, is throw your dad away.

You know about this? You know that throw your dad away? Yeah, yeah. And I can't unhear it now. Congratulations light of the world. And and congratulations, Drew. Was this a better competition for you than the last time? Yes, I definitely think so. Okay. We really unpacked. I think everything together. I mean, I mean, is there more? I don't think so. Um, all right. Thank you so much, Drew. Until until next time. Thank you so much. I appreciate it so much. See ya. Um, okay. And now the time has finally come. For our second Gleek to come out of the shadows. Gracie? Hello. Hello.

[1:11:37] Gracie: Wait, can I may I ask what time zone you're in? I'm in Utah. So wait, Gracie, we're in Utah. Oh my gosh. Yes. Which I was like, I saw you were the guest and I was like, I know Ian is from Utah. So I have to join. This all worked out. Wait, so you don't have to dox yourself. You don't have to dox where you're living. But you know that I would have like a general idea of where it was on a map. Yeah. Wait, that's that's so it's it's 1023. Eastern Standard Time that you're 923. Is that correct? I'm 823. 823. Mountain Standard. Okay, I'm good. Okay, you're good. You're good. Okay, I was I was afraid that like, it was like a crazy time of night. Okay, so, Gracie, first of all, thank you so much for being on.

Secondly, how do you feel about the competition that just happened? Do you have any scathing? Um, I think I might have gone with LOVE. Okay, but I'm not too mad about it. Like, I don't care about her that much to be like, really mad. You're you're like, okay. Yeah, yeah. Um, any other Galactic competitions that you would like to highlight? Okay, I wrote down a little list. Perfect. I love this. Only round three because I didn't want to do that to you guys. You're good. But my first thing is Thriller Heads Will Roll. I miss her. I'm so mad. She is. She's back. I know that being alive for just, yeah. She was voted back. Yes. Okay, wait, that makes me so happy. I like, okay, that's one of my favorite songs to run to.

Like, whenever that comes on, I'm like, going so fast. Okay. Oh, I love that. I remember, um, I guess it was that that summer of like, 2011. I had like a app where like, this is crazy. I haven't thought about this in the longest, longest time. But it was like, you when you would go on runs, like it would, like, you'd be running and like a zombie apocalypse. And so like, you would put like a playlist together. Yes, you put like, this is so much fun. So bad. So it was like, it was like training you like, okay, then you'd like you need a really fast song because like, you're running away from the zombies, you need to run to this place to gather these materials. And like, obviously, you're not running to anywhere.

But like, but that was a song that I remember putting onto the playlist, because of course, it lends itself to zombies. So it was a very fun app. I forget what it was called. But I did on my cross country team in high school, they would like, put on like, really scary music, or like, he's gonna get you music, and then just like, run fast because they're scared. But I never did that. Because I was like, I have thriller heads will roll. Yeah. Okay, the next one is the boy's mind. Did that one get brought back to? No, the boy's mind is, is completely gone. Yeah. Okay. Well, I'm extra mad about that. Okay, that I think was my most played song last year. Like not even just like, always forget that who took out boy's mind. It's I know where I've been. Does that do anything for you?

[1:15:16] Ian Allred: Look, I love that moment. I love hairspray. But the boy is mine. It just does something like, it's just perfect. So I would have voted that but okay, I know where I've been. It's so good. So like I get it. Okay, wait. And then the last one. Tell me if this got voted back. Oh, wait. You said it earlier. Anyway, you want it. Anyway, you want it is back. It's back. Okay. Okay, I got two out of three. So that's fine. Those are my three that I was like, really sad about. Yeah. Let's see. Okay. And then I just had to come on and say, I don't get the hate on Ben song. Thank you. Yeah, I really don't understand that. It's a good song. It's I don't know. I didn't even know it was about a rat either for a long time until I listened to this podcast.

And also like, I know that people like bring that up as like, kind of against the song, but I'm like, I think that's iconic that it's about a rat. Frankly, I think that makes the song better. We like, yeah. This is neither for Oh, continue, Gracie. Wait, you go. This is neither for nor against. It's not just about a rat. It's about a rat that kills people. Wait, what? Yeah. So the movie Ben, have you seen this? No, but I haven't either. It's Crispin Glover. And Crispin Glover has a little rat that he names Ben. And Ben kills people. But Crispin Glover is like, Ben, the two of us need look no more than we've both found we've been looking for. Yeah, because he's lonely, and doesn't know that his rat friend is killing people.

Oh, okay. Which is, I mean, that makes it even more haunting. Like, right. And I think it's a perfect song to sing to Blaine with all that. Consider. Yeah, Blaine also kills people famous. A rat that kills people. Exactly. But like, wait, really quickly. Ian, Ben, the song, just generally, do you? Where do you stand? Um, I have, I think when we covered that episode on Gleek of the Week, hello. On Recovering Gleek, pardon me. I think I was against it. I famously sang it. I kept interrupting Lena to sing Ben because I do think it's a gorgeous song. I think it's very pleasant to sing. But I think I was against being in the show because I thought it was dumb. But I do, you have won me over that now I think it's like camp and fun that they sing Ben to Blaine.

And the Finn vocal, like, it's so good. It's so good. I just, yeah, I think it's like, so, so funny that like, in the Michael Jackson tribute episode, which is like, kind of like front runner for like, episode with frankly, way too many songs in it. That it's like, this song definitely did not need to be in the Michael Jackson tribute episode and yet is taking up space. I'm so happy they did, literally. I'm obsessed. They were like, we're actually not going to cover Billie Jean or like Beat It or anything. We're gonna sing Ben. I think Ben's the answer, actually. But honestly, like so happy they did. Okay, next point of business. I don't get how people don't like Cherish Cherish. Thank you. Perfect song.

My people song. I, it has everyone has Quinn. She sounds so good in it. Mercedes like, and the I love the love. What is it? Sugar Shack? Yeah. Yes. It's so good. And I don't get how people don't like it. It's the closest thing that we have to a like Quinn Sadie's duet, I feel. And I like it. And they should have had more, especially like them being friends. Like, I, my sister just watched the regionals episode where Quinn has her baby. And she I forgot she says Mercedes to to come with her in the room. Tears. Yeah. Yeah. They're never friends again after that.

[1:20:04] Gracie: And Quinn was like, actually, you've seen too much of me after today. We have to stop talking. Our chemistry is too strong. She's like, you actually saw me at my lowest. We can't be I'm so embarrassed. Like, they don't even interact like ever again, which is just Yes. Yeah, I agree. Um, but yeah, that was all of my hot takes. Perfect. Thank you. I'm glad it's two out of three. That's really impressive. Not bad. Um, what are you what are you hoping to see in this competition? Um, I would love a group number. I also like my four like main people that I love are Santana, obviously, Rachel, Finn and Quinn. So like, okay, from them. I would love. All right, I'll see what I can do. See, I have a question.

Yes. Not to be insane. But we were talking about chasing pavements v. Ain't No Way. Someone in Gracie posted in the chat and said, I will never understand this take. Is this you? And if so, I would love to hear your thoughts. Yes. Someone named Gracie. I feel like people have been bringing this up in like, all of the episodes. And I just like, I just don't understand it. Because Ain't No Way is so good. Like, it's so good. It's just listen to it. Chasing pavements. Like, I'm just always gonna go for the Adele version. So like, I hear you there. I understand that. I love the part when like, Rachel turns around and she's like, OMG, Kurt is here. Love that. Also, with the Ain't No Way when the curtain goes up, and the choir is there.

And I was like, oh, so good. I think that if I were to ask my mom what the winner of her Glackett is, I think that she would, without looking at a list, of course, I think that she would say Ain't No Way. Ain't No Way is like, when she's, very seldom will she entertain Glee on the TV, you know, like YouTube, like, let's take a trip down memory lane and just like, what Glee on YouTube. She'll want to watch Ain't No Way. And that's the one that she's like, I'm like, Oh, I know what, you know, good. Yeah, it honestly might be my favorite more solo. Like, yeah, people are saying that every time, you know what, I do have what song, our first song of your competition is, but really quickly, I feel like people are not talking about beautiful enough.

Weirdly, I that entire performance. Oh, really? Yeah. Oh, emotional actually makes me cry every time. Yeah, it's so good. And really important for the the Quincy's heads as well. Um, I just think that like, I, for some reason, that song just gets overlooked. And I'm not sure what it is. It really does. Is it still in the Glackett? No, it was taken out by Bohemian Rhapsody in round one, which is like, kind of like a canon event. Yeah, that's fair. But that's so sad. She's such a beautiful girl. And yeah, literally beautiful. Yeah, yeah. When my brother started watching Glee as basically a favor to me. And he was like, having a really hard time with it at first. And then when he got to home, he sent me a message to just about like, how affecting beautiful was and how he was like, I don't understand.

Like, this show is so stupid. Why did that make me so emotional? And it was so beautiful that like, Quinn is the one that helped her learn to love herself and like how Quinn has come and now Mercedes is like standing in her power. I'm gonna butcher the line, but like the Mercedes line where she's like, raise your hand if you've ever felt like fat or that you don't have enough friends or you have too much pimples or like, I'm just like, it's so it's like, repeating it. It's like so cheesy. But like, I'm like, I remember hearing that like watching that scene. I'm like, fuck. So this is hitting me so hard. Yeah. Amber Riley throughout the whole show, but especially like season one is so guileless.

She's like, so her performance is just like so endearing and innocent. Yeah, but I think it's literally impossible for her to be corny. Like a really kind of schmaltzy dialogue you give her. I'm like, girl, I believe you. Yeah, such a purity to her. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I do have the song is it is a banger. It does fit what you are looking for. You mentioned four soloists, and it is one of them.

[1:24:50] Ian Allred: I think you'll know what it is from this first screen grab. It is Rachel in the bathroom. Are you seeing it? Is this never can say goodbye? It is never can say goodbye.

[1:25:10] Gracie: Yes. Perfect song. Perfect song alert. Gracie, do you want to start the discourse? Um, yes. First thing I have to say is every time I listen to the song, I always picture her like she does this one little dance move where she like waves her finger. You guys know what I'm talking about? Yeah, obsessed. I always think about that. It's just so cute. And I forgot the locker. Like all the pictures. Locker is so good. I just wish we had more of that with like all of the other characters. Yeah, it's just, you know, with a show like Glee, where it's like, you're watching it. And it's like, do the characters remember all these things? And so it's like, so like, gratuitous to see these moments where it's like, Oh, wait, yeah, they're acknowledging that these things did happen.

She had a baby. Yeah, it's Quinn arrows tour. Yeah, here's my pregnant era. This is my magenta era. This is but there's a skank Quinn era. Yeah, I know the skank Quinn was actually jumpscare. I forgot that picture was in there. It is wild that like, the choice that she would hang that up. Yeah, what is what is that? The girls inside her. She forget. The only reason she stopped being a skank Quinn is so that Shelby would trust her with Beth. She wasn't like, you know what, this isn't really me. She was like, I need to get on Shelby Corcoran's good side. I'm gonna bleach my hair again. skank Quinn is still I'm still skank. Yeah, she's still skank Quinn. And in the reboot, she's skank Quinn again.

It's like, wait, what happened? She's like, I've always been this you guys. Yeah, she's a lesbian, first of all, and she's skank Quinn full time. Right, right, right, no, I love that. Yeah. Um, go ahead. Oh, wait, sorry. Another thing is I forgot that Sam like lays on the stage like that. Like, it's so awkward. Hey, fucking Finn, like just walk up, but he's just like, Hey, interesting. Yeah. Um, funny. I do want to bring up the fact we were talking about Ben, not too long ago. And that that was felt like a weird deep cut. And I also feel like Never Can Say Goodbye is also kind of like, Oh, oh, what does that look in? Maybe you know, I think that is not it. Wait, I don't think that people are when you Okay.

Like when you're thinking about like the Michael Jackson tribute episode, like or people like, Oh, I really hope they sing Never Can Say Goodbye. And I'm so glad they did, of course. But it's like, Oh, yeah, I see you're saying especially it's like a Jackson five era song. And then you're not even like the top three you think of when you think of Jackson five, I get right. Yeah, I didn't know this song before Glee. Yeah. But I do remember the first time I watched it. I was like, Oh, my goodness, like, Quinn has never sounded better. Like, so it's so special. I remember they like, released it. Like maybe like around like, Christmas, this episode came out in like, late January, but they like release it like a full month.

I don't know if it was like leaked or something. But it was a very, very fun surprise. Game early. Yeah, they were like, no one's gonna love this. But also, I just like, I'm always thinking about like the fact that like, Quinn only gets six solos throughout the entire series. The fact that she doesn't get a single solo in season two, the old like the last solo that she had before this one was it's a man's man's man's world. The very song by the way, banger song, of course. But like number it's just wild to me. Ian, do you have a like a headcanon about like, why are there because they gave her four solos in season one, which felt like a good number to have for season run? None in season two. Do you have a theory or anything of like, why they just stopped giving her songs to herself?

Because Santana became Quinn. Because when they when they wrote Quinn being a white male gay showrunner, Ryan Murphy wanted the HBIC. He wanted the mean girl. He wanted the girl who's like powerhouse. Don't mess with me. Yeah. And then Quinn throughout season one started to morph into a character that had like an underlying

[1:30:00] Ian Allred: Sweetness and softness towards her. He was like, Okay, actually, this is not what I had in mind for this character. And meanwhile, Naya Rivera is really killing it. Yeah, so I'm going to put, which like, this is not a slight on Santana. I love everything they did with Santana. But I do think that Naya was giving more what he had in mind for the character. And so essentially, all of his plans for the cheerleader character just went to Naya and he was like, Diana's contracted. So she'll just date another guy, I guess. She'll carry the plot. Yeah, yeah, he like openly has talked about how he wanted Quinn to be soulless. He wanted her to be Sybil Shepherd in Last Picture Show. He wanted her to be like irredeemable soulless.

And obviously, Santana is not that at all. But like he wanted her to be a mean girl. Yeah. And Quinn very quickly became, yes, a girl who like had meanness to her, but was a very tragic character. And he I don't personally don't think he like really knew what to do with that. Yeah, yeah. And then also like, much love. I'm so sorry, Grace. Much love. I genuinely love Diana's voice. They don't, the writers of this show value a belty voice over a soft voice. It's a big reason why Blaine sings so much more than Kurt does. Because they don't really know how to pick a song for a soft voice. I don't think they find it as exciting. They want these people like just hitting these huge, big money notes.

And they don't value like a beautiful soft ballad as much. And Diana has a beautiful voice. She does not have a big voice. And I think you look at some of her early songs, and they are bigger songs that I think work fine. And I think they're fun. But they are meant to be sung by a bigger voice. And I think eventually they were like, she's not giving us what we want. And so like, let's just we don't know what to do with her, basically. Right? Instead of playing to her strengths like they should have done.

[1:32:03] Gracie: Yeah, because when she does get it, when she does get a feature like this, when she gets a Cherish Cherish, ah, she eats it up.

[1:32:10] Ian Allred: Eats it up.

[1:32:11] Gracie: So good. Yes.

[1:32:13] Ian Allred: Uh, Gracie, what did you want to say?

[1:32:15] Gracie: Oh, I was, this is so random. I don't know if you guys have seen this. But as I was getting more into Glee, because I was like four years old when it came out. So...

[1:32:26] Ian Allred: Oh my god.

[1:32:27] Gracie: I did have to watch it on Disney+. But um, of course I was going on YouTube. And there's like a video of I don't remember who it is. But it's like Ryan Murphy. And I think, like some of the main cast.

[1:32:43] Ian Allred: Yeah, watch the pilot together.

[1:32:45] Gracie: Yes. Yeah. And Ryan Murphy, like talks about he's like, Oh, I wanted Diana to like, be super mean, like you were saying, but she like became soft or whatever. And honestly, when I was watching it, I was like, Why are you being mean to her?

[1:33:02] Ian Allred: Yeah, I, I don't think that that was like intended as I think that that was a compliment to Diana, if I'm not like mistaken, I because I know that people use that quote against him. And I'm like, I think that if anything, the intention, and I'm not Ryan Murphy's lawyer, listen. But um, I think that the intention was that she, she played the character with such nuance that it wasn't that she brought so much depth there that yeah, yeah, but yeah, yeah.

[1:33:37] Gracie: Yeah. So I mean, I hope he said it in that way. Well, you know, maybe just sounds blunt, because the way he said it, I was like, Whoa, yeah, maybe don't say that.

[1:34:02] Ian Allred: There were like, when it was on, there was so much like, I like theories about like Diana and Ryan's relationship. And like that they were like, constantly fighting, but I don't like I don't even know if any of it was I don't know. But apparently they don't know if that's true, either. They they they put their minds together for the the quark wash. So they were great. Ryan.

[1:34:21] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:34:22] Gracie: Do you have a favorite?

[1:34:22] Ian Allred: Quolo? I don't know. Honestly. I think this was it for a while. And I know you don't really like this song as much, but I do love Come See About Me.

[1:34:32] Gracie: Okay. A lot. Um, and also you keep me hanging on. It's hard. You keep me hanging on is such a banger. Speaking of catcalling, they're catcalling for their lives.

[1:34:49] Ian Allred: They are. That's where Brittany learned the move.

[1:34:56] Gracie: Yeah. I'm gonna use it's a problem. Wait a second. I have a great idea. Dinosaur.

[1:35:05] Ian Allred: Yeah. Um, what other things do we need to discuss with Never Can Say Goodbye? Gowns, beautiful gowns, but said non shady, genuinely beautiful gowns. She wears three dresses in this number. They're all stunning. I remember like looking on Fashion of Glee. After this episode came out, because I was like, curious, just for my own mind. That was like, Where's this dress from? It's like, I remember being gagged. That was like a $60 dress. Can you believe?

[1:35:32] Gracie: What? I know. I'm gonna buy that dress. Right? I'm like, I should just have it then. I have to go shopping. Oh, I need it.

[1:35:39] Ian Allred: Yeah. Crazy. Yeah. So. Hi, gag. Speaking of iconic moves, the finger wag that Gracie brought up. In the final, you know, this is a three act play. Act one is her in the black dress on stage. Act two is her in the floral dress at her locker. Act three is her in the white dress in the choir room. During Act three. She does a like a DJ spin move. She like does this with her arm.

[1:36:05] Gracie: And it looks like she's like spinning. She's like spinning an album.

[1:36:10] Ian Allred: Yeah. And I love I'm not like I'm serious. I think that is very fun. I love that move. She's so Oh, when Diana just can be goofball vibes. Oh, it's so good. Silly.

[1:36:29] Gracie: Yeah. Why? I don't know why they slow mo walk out of the bathroom. That part always gags me.

[1:36:37] Ian Allred: She needed to make a really dramatic exit.

[1:36:43] Gracie: Yeah. And then Rachel's just like standing there like, dang, like, you don't want to. Dang, she really ate me up. I really shouldn't get married.

[1:36:55] Ian Allred: Go ahead. I'm going to derail us. So if you want to stay on track, you should talk.

[1:37:03] Gracie: No, I want you to derail us for once. We have any Jen Samard fans in the house? Anyone a fan of Broadway's own Jennifer Samard currently starring as Helen Sharp and Death Becomes Her on Broadway?

[1:37:08] Ian Allred: I've seen it. I love I'm not I wouldn't say that I'm like I'm a Jennifer Samard fan. I liked her in company and I saw her in Death Becomes Her. That's kind of the extent of my knowledge around this woman.

[1:37:19] Gracie: Girl, I'm obsessed. Okay. Jennifer Samard, the my first interaction with her, my first interaction, we didn't interact. First time I heard her name is when she had an obsessed video with Seth Rudetsky, where she does a Bernadette Peters impression. The second time I came across her name is when she was nominated for a Tony Award for playing the nun in Disaster on Broadway, a famous Broadway flop closed very quickly, it lost a lot of money. Yeah, but Jennifer Samard was a shining star and was nominated for a Tony in her, like tertiary character in that show. And she plays a nun who has a gambling addiction, and is trying to raise money for an orphanage, but then keeps gambling all the money away.

And in act two, her big number like her big spotlight moment is she sings this song never can say goodbye to a slot machine. I'm not kidding. One of the funniest performances of all time, you can find a bootleg of it on the internet. It is like it's a comedy masterclass. It is so fun. And being Jennifer Samard, she gives you the throaty belts that she always does. She like picks it up. She goes, um, oh my gosh, how does that line go? Tell me why? Is it so? Like takes that all the way up the octave. It is so fucking funny. I love it. Everyone go watch it.

[1:39:00] Ian Allred: I have to be I love that so much. I can't wait to watch it. I at the beginning of that. Of that derailment. I literally thought that the connection was going to be a gay icon Diana Agaron connected to gay icon.

[1:39:17] Gracie: It was never can say goodbye specific, of course.

[1:39:20] Ian Allred: Oh, and I appreciate that. And honestly, great cover of the song. I do listen to the Jennifer Samard cover a lot. It's very, very, it's on speak and find on Spotify.

[1:39:30] Gracie: Okay, all right. Yeah, stream it. Um, okay, anything final that we need to say about this?

[1:39:38] Ian Allred: Uh, I am scared for her. I am so much. I really am scared for her. Wait, let me look up because I remember in round two, she got killed by songbird.

[1:39:48] Gracie: Yeah, she got killed by songbird. And then she got voted back. I actually do remember where I was.

[1:39:59] Ian Allred: Oh, wait, like a public place and I gasped.

[1:40:05] Gracie: No, it was that was insane. I was sewing my costume in the dressing room of a cruise ship.

[1:40:12] Ian Allred: And you prick your thumb.

[1:40:18] Gracie: I went, wait a second. I prick my thumb. Um, and then also this is this is really insane. In round one, it won against Broadway Baby, but then Broadway Baby was voted back. And so I really hope that it doesn't have a bad record now.

[1:40:36] Ian Allred: Oh, okay. All right. What if you pull Broadway Baby?

[1:40:39] Gracie: Broadway Baby's gone, right?

[1:40:41] Ian Allred: Yeah, Broadway Baby's already in round four.

[1:40:44] Gracie: Oh, okay, good.

[1:40:46] Ian Allred: You're gonna pull her again. She's back again.

[1:40:48] Gracie: Knock, knock, surprise.

[1:40:49] Ian Allred: Okay, you thought you'd seen the last of me?

[1:40:51] Gracie: It's gonna be this one. Okay, this is interesting. I'm not like, I think I know how this movie ends.

[1:41:00] Ian Allred: Okay. You think you've seen this film before? And you did like the ending?

[1:41:06] Gracie: I it's just it's really I there's going to be like, there's going to be discourse.

[1:41:10] Ian Allred: And it's about someone that we like kind of already did talk about.

[1:41:14] Gracie: Don't don't let it be a Mercedes number, please.

[1:41:18] Ian Allred: No. Okay, well, the very beginning of this episode.

[1:41:30] Gracie: That was so long ago. Brit Lauer.

[1:41:36] Ian Allred: It of course is listen.

[1:41:40] Gracie: I actually I hate this.

[1:41:42] Ian Allred: You know, Oprah had a point.

[1:41:47] Gracie: Oprah, Oprah was right about this thing.

[1:41:51] Ian Allred: Wait, you know that Oprah, we will talk about the song, of course, that just ended. Oprah is responsible for Uggs. Do you know about this?

[1:41:56] Gracie: What?

[1:41:57] Ian Allred: So like, it was like my favorite things. Like, you know, like she did the my favorite things.

[1:42:02] Gracie: Yeah, every year.

[1:42:04] Ian Allred: And like, she, she like discovered it and was like, Hey, like, Uggs, like, like, I really like them. And like that she started the I hope that I'm correct in saying that.

[1:42:15] Gracie: Wait, that's crazy.

[1:42:16] Ian Allred: And so like, she introduced Uggs the world. So anyway,

[1:42:22] Gracie: Her biggest influence on pop culture.

[1:42:26] Ian Allred: Yeah, Oprah really did those two things in a major way.

[1:42:31] Gracie: Um, that's it. That's kind of her.

[1:42:35] Ian Allred: One of all media just Uggs.

[1:42:38] Gracie: Uggs and Jake Zyrus.

[1:42:40] Ian Allred: Um, okay. Gosh, I really hate this competition with Mike.

[1:42:45] Gracie: Yeah, my own personal hell.

[1:42:48] Ian Allred: Yeah, I love this girl so much.

[1:42:50] Gracie: I agree. See, I don't.

[1:42:52] Ian Allred: What, what?

[1:42:54] Gracie: I don't know why this is so hard for everyone.

[1:43:02] Ian Allred: Wait, let's put a pin in that, Gracie. I just want to say before I forget, I just loved that at the very beginning. I love this moment. When Sunshine starts singing, and then Santana does a very slight tilt.

[1:43:18] Gracie: It's, it tickles me so much. And I saw that you did it the same time.

[1:43:23] Ian Allred: I, Ian, do you know what I'm talking about?

[1:43:26] Ian Allred: No.

[1:43:27] Gracie: Oh, I need to replay it actually.

[1:43:29] Ian Allred: It's so, it's so, it's, it's just, it's iconic.

[1:43:36] Gracie: Here.

[1:43:37] Ian Allred: Oh, here, yeah, yeah.

[1:43:39] Gracie: She goes like, every time I see this, I have to do it.

[1:43:46] Ian Allred: It's so, it's really, really perfect. It means the world to me.

[1:43:50] Gracie: It means so much to me.

[1:43:52] Ian Allred: It, it just like says to me that Santana is watching the performance, like she's interpreting, it's, you know, it's just, it really speaks volumes. And I'm, it sounds ironic, but like, oh my god, I really mean it. I really love that.

[1:44:08] Ian Allred: Ian, you, you, are you about to say hate?

[1:44:12] Ian Allred: No, you, and I, yeah, I was going to, but I was like, no, I know that you don't hate it. Girl, please.

[1:44:18] Gracie: Um, Sunshine Corazon Outsung, of course, of course.

[1:44:22] Ian Allred: Sunshine Corazon Outsung.

[1:44:25] Gracie: Sunshine Corazon and Quinn for Bray.

[1:44:28] Ian Allred: Yes.

[1:44:28] Gracie: But like, much love. Who the fuck is this? I don't know this girl.

[1:44:34] Ian Allred: Like, if they, if the writers had done more with Sunshine, then sure.

[1:44:39] Gracie: But she's barely in this show.

[1:44:41] Ian Allred: I personally don't really have an emotional attachment to her.

[1:44:44] Gracie: Sunshine Corazon Outsung, I will not deny. But Quinn for Bray's arguably best number, and Diana sounds amazing on it, and it also has like an emotional weight to it, and we are storytelling through it with the boyfriends and her saying goodbye to the boyfriends and her going to Yale.

[1:45:03] Ian Allred: That's what you really miss, is what you're trying to say.

[1:45:05] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:45:05] Ian Allred: What? Sure.

[1:45:07] Gracie: And that's what you really miss on Glee, is what we get in that performance.

[1:45:13] Ian Allred: Yes, exactly. It's a recap.

[1:45:15] Gracie: It's a recap.

[1:45:16] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:45:17] Gracie: I just like, I think this is an amazing cover of Listen. Genuinely, it's an amazing cover of Listen.

[1:45:23] Ian Allred: Um, but like, if I stream this song, I'm not having any feelings outside of this is a fantastic cover of Listen.

[1:45:36] Gracie: Whereas I listen to Never Can Say Goodbye, and I'm like, oh, very good cover of Never Can Say Goodbye. And also, I'm thinking of my girl Lucy.

[1:45:43] Ian Allred: I love Lucy.

[1:45:45] Gracie: Um, I'm, I'm thinking of, thank you so much. I'm thinking of, and here's what you missed on Quinn's Glee.

[1:45:53] Ian Allred: Thank you.

[1:45:54] Gracie: I'm thinking of the $60 dress. Like, it just packs, it just packs more of an emotional punch. And I am a person that like, when it comes down to it, I will take full context of a song at more value than just a good mp3. Because girl, I got thousands of good mp3s on my Spotify.

[1:46:16] Ian Allred: Not to brag, but my Spotify has got a lot of good mp3s.

[1:46:23] Gracie: Beautiful mp3s.

[1:46:24] Ian Allred: Yeah, yeah.

[1:46:25] Gracie: Uh, I'm just sad to like, like, because I think I know my vote too. But I'm like, this girl is so beautiful to me.

[1:46:36] Ian Allred: Yeah, like the arms in the whole performance.

[1:46:40] Gracie: Oh my god. She's snapping.

[1:46:43] Ian Allred: When she's got the, finish your thought.

[1:46:47] Gracie: She's doing everything. I just love it.

[1:46:49] Ian Allred: Yeah. There's that moment speaking of the arms. She's got like, invisible drums on either side of her.

[1:46:54] Gracie: She does it like, boom, bop, boom, bop.

[1:46:56] Ian Allred: Like, right, right, left. And then both arms at the same time, palms open.

[1:47:01] Gracie: I love that moment.

[1:47:03] Ian Allred: Literally.

[1:47:03] Gracie: Like that.

[1:47:04] Ian Allred: It's, oh my gosh. So many like, great choices that like, make me think that like, this was, they feel so true to the character that I'm like, this is a Jake Zyrus decision.

[1:47:18] Gracie: I don't think that like, it's not coming from like a, and do these things with your arms. Obviously, I'm not an actor. Ian, do you have a different interpretation of like, that?

[1:47:29] Ian Allred: Um, I agree with you. I think it's all Jake.

[1:47:31] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:47:32] Ian Allred: I think that it's like, it's so specific. It's so fun. I remember in college, I worked in the student affairs office. There was a girl that was obsessed with this cover of Listen. And in like, one day, like, tried to perfect the arm choreography, just played that part over and over and over again. And I have videos, I can't include in the carousel because that would be a weird play of like, I don't talk.

[1:48:00] Gracie: You should reach out.

[1:48:03] Ian Allred: I'll reach out and be like, hey, can I include this in the carousel? Maybe she'll find it funny. Um, but it really, oh, I love the arm choreography so much.

[1:48:10] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:48:11] Ian Allred: It's so special.

[1:48:11] Gracie: Okay, this is, this is kind of like maybe minusing points for this performance. Um, but there's like a moment where they like, pan to Rachel.

[1:48:19] Ian Allred: And she like, licks her lips.

[1:48:23] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:48:24] Ian Allred: Hate.

[1:48:27] Gracie: Oh, love.

[1:48:28] Ian Allred: I agree, Ian. I think it's so funny.

[1:48:32] Gracie: And her like, angrily fixing her hair too.

[1:48:35] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:48:36] Gracie: But the lips, I'm just like, girl, that's too much.

[1:48:40] Ian Allred: That's just cringe.

[1:48:41] Gracie: And I also, I love, right before this performance, where Sunshine says, I'm going to be singing, listen from the, the movie, did she say, movie Dream Girls?

[1:48:54] Ian Allred: And then Rachel says, Broadway show first.

[1:48:56] Gracie: And then they say, shut up.

[1:48:59] Ian Allred: It's the other way around where she, it's something about like, from the musical Dream Girls. And she says something like, actually the movie, because it was written for the movie, I believe. I might be wrong.

[1:49:11] Ian Allred: Yes.

[1:49:12] Gracie: Yes.

[1:49:12] Ian Allred: But I believe it is the semantics.

[1:49:14] Gracie: It's the semantics of that, that it is specifically written for the movie.

[1:49:18] Ian Allred: Broadway show first.

[1:49:20] Gracie: Shut up.

[1:49:23] Ian Allred: And she starts.

[1:49:25] Gracie: It's really great.

[1:49:27] Ian Allred: Um.

[1:49:27] Gracie: Wait, is there any more Sunshine in the Glockett?

[1:49:31] Ian Allred: This is Sunshine's last, because.

[1:49:34] Gracie: Stop.

[1:49:35] Ian Allred: Um, All By Myself is out in round one.

[1:49:38] Gracie: As long as you're, I always get that confused with as long as you're mine.

[1:49:42] Ian Allred: It's as long as you're there.

[1:49:44] Gracie: Ian, that was round two.

[1:49:46] Ian Allred: Maybe.

[1:49:46] Gracie: Finale with you.

[1:49:49] Ian Allred: Uh, Telephone was voted out last round.

[1:49:53] Gracie: And that's it.

[1:49:54] Ian Allred: And this is it.

[1:49:55] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:49:57] Ian Allred: She's so good.

[1:49:58] Gracie: Her voice is so good.

[1:50:00] Ian Allred: See, if I had to argue for any Sunshine song being in round four, I would say Telephone.

[1:50:05] Gracie: Really?

[1:50:05] Ian Allred: Because I feel like Telephone is iconic.

[1:50:08] Gracie: I feel like people know Telephone.

[1:50:11] Ian Allred: People know Telephone.

[1:50:13] Gracie: Is this her best vocal, Sunshine's?

[1:50:15] Ian Allred: Like, probably.

[1:50:16] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:50:17] Ian Allred: Or maybe All By Myself.

[1:50:19] Gracie: All By Myself.

[1:50:19] Ian Allred: Yeah, I don't know. I don't reach for All By Myself like ever.

[1:50:23] Gracie: I need to give All By Myself like another try.

[1:50:26] Ian Allred: For some reason, it never really did much for me.

[1:50:29] Gracie: I don't know why though.

[1:50:31] Ian Allred: Anyway.

[1:50:31] Gracie: I love her.

[1:50:32] Ian Allred: Because it's, because it's fire to collect.

[1:50:35] Gracie: Oh, that's right. An episode that we don't like.

[1:50:38] Ian Allred: Guys.

[1:50:39] Gracie: That's like genuinely.

[1:50:40] Ian Allred: Fun.

[1:50:42] Gracie: I want, I, and Gracie, I want to have your opinion.

[1:50:47] Ian Allred: No, I actually don't mind it. It's fine.

[1:50:48] Gracie: Oh, I just like, it's written by Ian Brennan.

[1:50:52] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:50:53] Gracie: It like, it has a Santana solo.

[1:50:55] Ian Allred: It has a Mercedes solo.

[1:50:56] Gracie: Wait, it doesn't have a Santana solo.

[1:50:57] Ian Allred: I'm thinking of Funeral.

[1:50:58] Gracie: I'm so sorry.

[1:50:59] Ian Allred: I'm thinking Back to Black.

[1:51:00] Gracie: I was like, wait. Famously, I've never seen season two.

[1:51:03] Ian Allred: Oh no.

[1:51:04] Gracie: It has a Mercedes solo. It has almost a Tina solo. It has Sandy Ryerson, whom I love. It has like the, the Legion of Evil, which I think is a really fun idea. And yet I feel almost none of those things actually reach their potential. I feel like they're all just like kind of half-baked. And it just overall is a disappointing episode for me personally. I think like season two is so good that that is kind of like lost in the mix.

[1:51:35] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:51:35] Gracie: It's probably the worst out of season two. But like if that episode was like in season five or something, that would have been so good.

[1:51:44] Ian Allred: Banger.

[1:51:45] Gracie: I know exactly what you're saying, Gracie. Absolutely.

[1:51:49] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:51:50] Gracie: It did give us showtune, showtune.

[1:51:54] Ian Allred: Showtune.

[1:51:55] Gracie: And it did give us...

[1:51:57] Ian Allred: Dear Lord, I love this song.

[1:51:58] Gracie: Dear Lord, I love this song.

[1:51:59] Ian Allred: Becky saying, you're going to make me barf up my lunch.

[1:52:05] Gracie: I did see today on TikTok from the account.

[1:52:07] Ian Allred: I know that people do not always agree with this person.

[1:52:12] Gracie: Sweaty Oracle.

[1:52:13] Ian Allred: Do you know about Sweaty Oracle?

[1:52:16] Gracie: Of course.

[1:52:17] Ian Allred: Yes, I do know about Sweaty Oracle.

[1:52:18] Gracie: Did you see the Sweaty Oracle video today?

[1:52:22] Ian Allred: I make an effort to not ever see the Sweaty Oracle video.

[1:52:27] Gracie: Sweaty Oracle.

[1:52:28] Ian Allred: OK, so I heard this one out because he did actually like have some proof behind it and it's connected. Of course, there have been many times that he has said stuff that has come to pass. But sometimes he says things that are absolutely fucking insane that I'm like, you're lying.

[1:52:42] Gracie: You just pull that right out of your ass.

[1:52:45] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:52:46] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:52:47] Ian Allred: But he did say today.

[1:52:49] Gracie: Dreamgirls Broadway revival, Dreamgirls Broadway is a registered on social media on TikTok and Instagram.

[1:52:58] Ian Allred: So do you think they'll put Listen in?

[1:53:03] Gracie: Listen, I listen was in West End.

[1:53:06] Ian Allred: You should.

[1:53:08] Gracie: So it's there.

[1:53:10] Ian Allred: I think so.

[1:53:11] Gracie: Broadway musical first.

[1:53:12] Ian Allred: Broadway musical.

[1:53:13] Gracie: Shut up.

[1:53:13] Ian Allred: Exactly.

[1:53:14] Gracie: But yeah, I would like to see it. I know that Amber Riley is like famously said, like she would never do it again.

[1:53:20] Ian Allred: Of course, I really hope that she's lying.

[1:53:22] Gracie: And if she is telling the truth, I really, of course, with Alex Newell, I need it bad.

[1:53:29] Ian Allred: Oh, that would be fantastic.

[1:53:30] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:53:31] Ian Allred: So anything final to say about Listen?

[1:53:34] Gracie: I love her so much.

[1:53:37] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:53:37] Gracie: And I think I'm going to miss her because I think I'm going to miss her.

[1:53:41] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:53:42] Gracie: And I think I'm going to miss her because I think I know how this movie ends.

[1:53:48] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:53:50] Gracie: I'm really sad.

[1:53:51] Ian Allred: Ian, you feel the most confident about your vote. Do you want to do it first?

[1:53:54] Ian Allred: Yeah, I'm going with my girl, Quinny. Sorry.

[1:53:58] Gracie: Right.

[1:53:59] Ian Allred: Much love Sunshine Court Zone. Once again, Sunshine outsang. But I am going with Never Can Say Goodbye.

[1:54:06] Gracie: Okay, I am going with Never Can Say Goodbye as well.

[1:54:11] Ian Allred: I honestly stream her more.

[1:54:13] Gracie: I was just thinking that too.

[1:54:15] Ian Allred: I can't even do a pity vote for Listen.

[1:54:17] Gracie: I listen to Never Can Say Goodbye more.

[1:54:20] Ian Allred: You listen?

[1:54:21] Gracie: I listen.

[1:54:22] Ian Allred: Listen's looking at me like, you did what?

[1:54:26] Gracie: You used my own name against me?

[1:54:30] Ian Allred: Yeah, but I'll miss Listen.

[1:54:33] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:54:34] Ian Allred: Anyway.

[1:54:34] Gracie: So sad.

[1:54:35] Ian Allred: Sad.

[1:54:36] Gracie: Gracie, a really devastating competition.

[1:54:40] Ian Allred: Yeah, it was tragic.

[1:54:41] Gracie: Thank you so much for letting me come on.

[1:54:43] Ian Allred: Oh my gosh, of course. It's like the best thing ever.

[1:54:47] Gracie: I'm so glad that we were able to do it and with such iconic solos against each other.

[1:54:51] Ian Allred: Wow.

[1:54:52] Gracie: Exactly. Incredible.

[1:54:54] Ian Allred: Well, have a great evening, Gracie.

[1:54:55] Gracie: Thank you so much. You too.

[1:54:57] Ian Allred: Bye.

[1:54:58] Gracie: Bye.

[1:54:59] Ian Allred: Bye, Gracie.

[1:55:01] Ian Allred: In recap for this episode, we're going to light up the world.

[1:55:06] Gracie: We're going to light up the world from heaven.

[1:55:08] Ian Allred: I know that we've talked about the heaven parallel.

[1:55:10] Gracie: We don't do heaven.

[1:55:12] Ian Allred: Because they continue to be in purgatory.

[1:55:17] Gracie: Yes.

[1:55:18] Ian Allred: You're right.

[1:55:18] Gracie: They're not.

[1:55:18] Ian Allred: You know, like everyone's being judged.

[1:55:20] Gracie: Everything, one song is going to heaven.

[1:55:23] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:55:23] Gracie: So light up the world.

[1:55:24] Ian Allred: The rest are still waiting to be judged.

[1:55:26] Gracie: So what is the joke with?

[1:55:27] Ian Allred: Light up the world tonight and tomorrow, because you're at round four.

[1:55:32] Gracie: And there we go.

[1:55:33] Ian Allred: And there we go.

[1:55:35] Gracie: L-O-V-E.

[1:55:36] Ian Allred: More like H-A-T-E.

[1:55:40] Gracie: Oh.

[1:55:43] Ian Allred: Hey, I'm into it.

[1:55:44] Gracie: Okay.

[1:55:44] Ian Allred: I'm into it.

[1:55:46] Gracie: Truth clapping.

[1:55:49] Ian Allred: Perfect.

[1:55:51] Gracie: Never can say goodbye.

[1:55:53] Ian Allred: And exactly, exactly right.

[1:55:56] Gracie: You said it.

[1:55:57] Ian Allred: You said it.

[1:55:58] Gracie: We can.

[1:55:58] Ian Allred: Um, listen, you gotta like really perfect this one.

[1:56:06] Gracie: What is listen?

[1:56:07] Ian Allred: Listen is.

[1:56:08] Gracie: Someone did ask if we were sending Sunshine to a crack house again.

[1:56:12] Ian Allred: Yeah, that's, is that the joke?

[1:56:14] Gracie: We're sending her back.

[1:56:15] Ian Allred: It's not like a pun on it, but it is the most iconic thing about Sunshine Corazon.

[1:56:20] Gracie: That she got sent to a crack house.

[1:56:24] Ian Allred: So it's, it really, for a while, I was like, I really hate this joke because like how like popular the internet like kind of like made it. But then like, I really thought about it recently. I was like, wait, this joke is so fucking funny.

[1:56:36] Gracie: Literally so funny.

[1:56:38] Ian Allred: She could have, she could have told her the audition was anywhere.

[1:56:43] Gracie: Like all she had was to do was get her to not be at the auditorium.

[1:56:46] Ian Allred: The choice.

[1:56:47] Gracie: Out of her way to a crack house.

[1:56:51] Ian Allred: And when Sunshine is like, I had sheet music, but they used it for toilet paper.

[1:56:57] Gracie: Crazy.

[1:56:59] Ian Allred: I just like, there's so there, there's so many moments that like, I wish that I was in the room when they like kind of discovered a joke or like something, you know, and I'm like, this is definitely like top tier.

[1:57:12] Gracie: I wish that I was, I wish I could be there for that moment of when they decided crack house, you know?

[1:57:17] Ian Allred: Like I want to know what the, what like led to crack house, you know, it was just getting more and more absurd.

[1:57:24] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:57:25] Ian Allred: I also want to shout out in the chat, Drew is mentioning that Rachel also knows the difference between the inactive and active crack houses.

[1:57:30] Gracie: And Ethan also pointing out that Lima, a small town famously has multiple crack houses.

[1:57:39] Ian Allred: Which I've heard from people that like have been to Lima that they literally they're, they're like, yeah, that actually makes sense.

[1:57:45] Gracie: That actually makes sense.

[1:57:49] Ian Allred: Also, Google search Lima, Ohio, right now on your phone.

[1:57:53] Gracie: I'm not on my phone or just whatever.

[1:57:56] Ian Allred: Okay.

[1:57:58] Gracie: The picture that comes up is absolutely, I'm not kidding.

[1:58:02] Ian Allred: Oh my gosh, what is that?

[1:58:07] Gracie: Isn't that insane?

[1:58:10] Ian Allred: What the, what's going on in Lima, Ohio, that that is their first image.

[1:58:13] Gracie: I think that Gleeks are responsible for that, right?

[1:58:16] Ian Allred: I think that's probably true because when you go to Google images, there are a lot of beautiful pictures of Lima, Ohio. I, there must be Gleeks up at Google who are putting that one as the first on the docket.

[1:58:26] Gracie: That picture is insane.

[1:58:28] Ian Allred: That's crazy.

[1:58:31] Gracie: Yeah.

[1:58:32] Ian Allred: So anyway, and I think that's, I think I'm going to say with my chest right now, that's slide number one of the carousel.

[1:58:39] Gracie: That's truly, but you have to crop it in a way that it has the whole Google search of Lima city in Ohio.

[1:58:44] Ian Allred: And then that, that picture, uh, and anything, it sure does look inactive.

[1:58:53] Gracie: Um, anyway, this has been so much fun.

[1:58:56] Ian Allred: That is crazy.

[1:59:00] Gracie: Really crazy.

[1:59:00] Ian Allred: This has been so much fun.

[1:59:02] Ian Allred: Um, Ian, I was about to call you Damien because I'm looking at your name and your name.

[1:59:07] Gracie: This entire call has been Damien McGinty.

[1:59:09] Ian Allred: Uh, Damien and I knocked his ass out of the glacket once for all this episode.

[1:59:14] Gracie: Get out.

[1:59:16] Ian Allred: Uh, what do you have to say to the Gleeks? Is there a call to action?

[1:59:21] Ian Allred: Um, go make sure that that stays as the image on Google for Lima, Ohio.

[1:59:28] Gracie: Keep that crack house up.

[1:59:30] Ian Allred: Keep on clicking on it. Um, a call to action Gleeks live your lives, be happy. And also if you're looking to listen to a podcast and watch a TV show, um, I have a podcast called slay a queer Buffy podcast. That's me and my friend Lena. [2:00:58] Gracie: And what's the final thing?

[2:01:04] Andrew: And those two things. Or just listen to the backlog. Sometimes lists can just be two. Sometimes lists can just be two.

[2:01:09] Gracie: There surely is a third thing.

[2:01:13] Andrew: Well, you did say that you wanted the Gleeks to live their best lives.

[2:01:20] Gracie: Yeah, they'll live their best lives. Of course.

[2:01:29] Andrew: Anyway, we'll be back with another really, really amazing Showstopping Incredible episode, just like this one, next week. Until then, okay, bye! It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
