[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.
[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.
[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.
[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
[0:34] Andrew: 2026, Year of the Gleek, some would say. Check the Chinese zodiac. Don't check it, actually, I am correct. It's the Year of the Gleek. And starting us off in the Year of the Gleek, literally, I couldn't think of any two better Gleeks to kick off, I would say, a big year for the Gleeks with than Skip or Scream. I'm talking about previous guest of the podcast, Maggie, and co-host Cassie. Hey.
[1:07] Maggie: Hey.
[1:08] Cassie: Hey.
[1:09] Andrew: I was telling you before we started recording that I always feel a little weird after taking a little bit of a hiatus, first recording back, so I wanted to feel safe with the guests that I had on. And I really do feel safe with the both of you.
[1:19] Maggie: When we take breaks, I will forget how the intro goes when we come back. It's pretty funny.
[1:25] Andrew: Something that classically never changes, and I always forget how to do it every time we come back. We come back from our hiatus tomorrow, so I feel your pain, Andrew. I can relate.
[1:36] Andrew: Wait, what is coming up tomorrow? What film?
[1:39] Maggie: We are recording an episode tomorrow. We haven't recorded in a long time, so we still have some backlog to get through, but we're doing Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
[1:47] Andrew: I'm covering that one. That's a big one.
[1:49] Cassie: It's a big one. I haven't seen it since it came out.
[1:52] Andrew: You know what I re-watched for the first time? We will talk about The Hitbox Show Glee in a moment. You know what I re-watched yesterday, actually? Or no, two days ago. For the first time since seeing it in the theater was, you know it, Hereditary.
[2:06] Maggie: Watch that at home.
[2:08] Andrew: Okay.
[2:09] Cassie: Oh, yeah. Let's go.
[2:10] Andrew: Where do we stand on that? That is one of the classics at this point.
[2:15] Maggie: I genuinely think Hereditary is probably the greatest horror movie post, like, 2010.
[2:22] Andrew: Really?
[2:23] Maggie: It is so, so good. I saw this reel last week of someone—
[2:27] Cassie: Not a reel.
[2:28] Maggie: Someone going up to—
[2:30] Cassie: If this girl doesn't go on TikTok, I don't go on TikTok.
[2:32] Maggie: It might be a behind the- I saw this TikTok months ago.
[2:35] Cassie: Yes.
[2:36] Maggie: Sorry. I'll just say I saw a video, so I don't out myself as a non-TikTok user.
[2:39] Cassie: I was reading an article.
[2:40] Maggie: Uh-huh.
[2:41] Cassie: Yeah. I was reading a scholarly peer-reviewed article of a guy going up to the Wolf Brothers in a restaurant or a diner and singing Tony Collette's monologue that she says at the dinner table of that movie where she's screaming at him, being like, you're a little shit. I do everything.
[2:58] Andrew: That little face on your face.
[3:00] Cassie: Yeah.
[3:01] Maggie: And he's singing it to them, and they're just laughing. And I was like, this is what social media was meant to be used for, not for fake news and horrifying images, but like this.
[3:09] Cassie: I know. AI could never.
[3:11] Maggie: But I also feel bad for them, like having Randos come up to them and sing at them.
[3:15] Cassie: Yeah, but they seemed—
[3:16] Maggie: When you're least expecting it.
[3:18] Cassie: They seemed like they were, for the most part, enjoying it. And if they weren't, they did a good job of faking it. Our mutual friend, Allison Dodge, I think the funniest thing that I've ever heard anybody ever say, let alone Allison Dodge, was she texted me once and said, I'm at a record store right now, and I just asked them if they have Naked Brothers Band on vinyl.
[3:39] Andrew: Naked Brothers Band? Oh my gosh.
[3:41] Cassie: Yeah, I mean—
[3:42] Maggie: That's amazing.
[3:43] Cassie: Famously a Naked Brothers Band fan first and a person second.
[3:47] Andrew: A Naked Brothers stan. There we go.
[3:48] Cassie: Yes.
[3:49] Andrew: Wait, how do we feel about—
[3:51] Maggie: We will talk about Glee right after this. Well, how do we feel about Ari Aster as just like legend?
[3:56] Cassie: Love, love, love, love, love, love.
[4:01] Andrew: I know. I originally—
[4:02] Cassie: I originally, one of our patron levels, I think I changed it. I have to double check. Not me not knowing our patron levels, but one of our Patreon levels at one point was an Ari All Star.
[4:13] Maggie: There we go.
[4:14] Cassie: All of my levels were different horror directors I like. I think it was Prager for Krager, the Peel deal, like the real deal, like Jordan Peel, and then an Ari All Star, but then I changed it because I got scared just in case any of them come out as having problematic views or supporting problematic things. I got scared and I changed it.
[4:36] Andrew: You know what? That's actually really safe of you. I really commend you for making that decision.
[4:41] Cassie: I feel like the Ari Aster, the Eddington was the one that really didn't stick the landing for me.
[4:46] Maggie: Oh, I love that one.
[4:47] Cassie: You did?
[4:48] Maggie: I watched it for a second time like a couple weeks ago and I was like, oh, I forgot how good this movie is, but I think that it's very different from his other movies and it's not like as like full on horror. So I could see where people who are expecting Hereditary come in and they're like, wait, this is more of just like a social commentary piece.
[5:10] Cassie: Yeah, it's just something very unique and different. My favorite horror movie of all time is Midsommar. So I too am an Ari Aster fan first and a person second.
[5:18] Andrew: I think it's a good time. I probably should have done this earlier, but would you like to do a pitch of your podcast of what exactly your podcast mission statement is?
[5:27] Cassie: Yeah, this is actually a good transition because I had something to talk to you about, Andrew, is our podcast is called Skip or Scream. And what we do is we recap scary movies, every single thing that happens in it from start to finish, so that if you don't have time to watch a two hour, two and a half hour scary movie, or if you're too scared to even watch a scary movie, you can listen to us essentially give a much more detailed version of a movie than Wikipedia ever could.
[5:54] Maggie: She could never.
[5:55] Cassie: And we had Andrew on our podcast as a guest not too long ago because he doesn't just love Glee people. He has interests outside of the hit Fox show Glee. And one of those is just the cinema and movies in general. And so we hit him on to tell us about Begonia.
[6:15] Andrew: And I watched it today.
[6:17] Cassie: No.
[6:18] Andrew: Yes, it's on Peacock. Everyone go stream.
[6:21] Cassie: Wait, what did you think? Did I do a good job of recapping it?
[6:26] Andrew: So your recap was a little haphazard.
[6:30] Cassie: Okay, outing me. Yes, my recap left a lot to be desired.
[6:36] Andrew: One thing that you failed to mention that I feel like I can't even say without spoiling it. So Andrew, you might have to cut this. But the part when Lil Diva's head come off, bringing it back to Ari Aster, when Jesse Plemons' head gets exploded off, you never said that his head like hits Emma Stone in the face.
[6:57] Cassie: Oh, his head explodes.
[6:59] Andrew: Okay, I'm keeping this in. I think it's like actually intriguing out of context, the context that a big diva.
[7:06] Cassie: Big diva.
[7:07] Andrew: Yeah, that part was so funny to me. And the other part that I feel like you didn't mention is that Alicia Silverstone did have lines. So she wasn't just paid.
[7:16] Cassie: Yeah, I thought you said she just laid dead in bed or whatever.
[7:20] Andrew: What did she say?
[7:21] Cassie: She had a few. She had a few interesting scenes where I'm assuming it was like Jesse Plemons like having some type of like traumatic flashbacks from when she was ill. And she was like floating in a bathtub with needles.
[7:36] Andrew: She wasn't talking when she was floating.
[7:38] Cassie: Yes, she was. Andrew, I watched it today.
[7:41] Andrew: Fight, fight, fight.
[7:42] Cassie: I watched it today. She literally, I watched it less than 10 hours ago. She did do that.
[7:48] Andrew: I've watched it twice. And I don't recall this, Alicia Silverstone. Because like I only, maybe I'm putting her in a box. I definitely am. But the only words that I want to come and see come out of Alicia Silverstone are the three words, "ug as if." That's all I want to see. I don't want to see anything else.
[8:06] Cassie: Yeah, that's true. I'm sure she really appreciates hearing that.
[8:10] Andrew: I'm really silencing every other word that she says.
[8:13] Cassie: What are you saying? You didn't run to your TV to turn on Netflix and watch Merry Little X-mas that she was in? Her new Netflix Christmas movie?
[8:20] Andrew: I did see that. And like, why do I feel like there was like another, it's like Melissa Joan Hart also in there? Because like, I think that like, I did see that, right?
[8:29] Cassie: I don't know. I get a lot of them confused.
[8:32] Andrew: Do you want me to bring it back round to Glee?
[8:34] Cassie: Do you want me to bring it back round to Glee though?
[8:36] Andrew: I think that the Glisteners would really appreciate it if you brought it to Glee.
[8:39] Cassie: Speaking of Netflix original Christmas movies, Cordova Street, famously in Falling for Christmas.
[8:46] Andrew: Did you watch it? Did you like it?
[8:48] Cassie: I did watch it. I liked it. I mean, you go into those movies knowing what you're getting.
[8:53] Andrew: What is it about? Does he like fall down and lose his memory or something?
[8:57] Cassie: He doesn't.
[8:58] Maggie: Cassie, do you know of a little not well-known actress named Lindsay Lohan?
[9:03] Cassie: Lilo?
[9:04] Maggie: Oh, oh, yeah, that she falls down.
[9:07] Cassie: Little Diva had to get hit. And then she big, she forget.
[9:12] Andrew: A little diva have amnesia. A little diva doesn't remember. Yes.
[9:16] Cassie: Yeah, she gotcha.
[9:17] Andrew: Yeah, there's like a very significant age gap between them.
[9:20] Cassie: She doesn't age, in my opinion, her and Alicia Silverstone, like, clearly you can tell they do age. I mean, you they don't look like they're 19 anymore or 16 or whatever. They look damn good.
[9:31] Maggie: What I feel like having amnesia in a Christmas movie is like almost like 50% of Christmas movies. You know what I mean?
[9:37] Cassie: Oh, 100%.
[9:38] Andrew: I feel like they're always forgetting shit. And like, they're always like, tell me exactly who you are. And like, they lighter or something. Anyway.
[9:46] Cassie: And for the list, the for the glisteners who are screaming at their headphones right now, or their car stereos, Cassie Lindsay Lohan is 39 and Cord Overstreet is 36. So I think you owe both of them an apology.
[10:05] Cassie: And both of them are glisteners. And they were they were in the midst of typing a very angry Instagram.
[10:11] Andrew: I'm sure they were. Lindsay, I did not mean any offense. I think that Lindsay just came into my life a lot earlier than Cord did. So, you know, it makes me think he's really young.
[10:21] Cassie: And she's more seasoned.
[10:23] Andrew: Yeah, because she's been in my life since Parent Trap.
[10:27] Cassie: So, hey, yeah.
[10:29] Andrew: Speaking of Lindsay Lohan, and speaking of Cord Overstreet, both, they co-starred originally on the hit Fox show Glee. Maggie, you've been on the podcast before. I am interested in hearing, Cassie, your relationship with the hit Fox show Glee, where do you stand with it?
[10:49] Cassie: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm a really bad listener. Do you? When you do all of your episodes, you always say hit Fox show Glee.
[10:56] Andrew: Like it's always a hit Fox show Glee. Because we need to pay respect. It was a hit Fox show.
[11:03] Cassie: It feels like it was something like in your contract. Like you must say this before.
[11:08] Andrew: I actually need to say hit Fox show. Yes.
[11:11] Cassie: Um, okay, so here's how I came to Glee. So I had unhealthy obsessions with musicals in high school. And one of the first ones that I was very, very obsessed with was Spring Awakening.
[11:25] Andrew: I know.
[11:26] Cassie: Which Lea Michele and Jenna were in.
[11:29] Andrew: And so when I heard—
[11:30] Cassie: Well, yeah, but he's like, not one of the main names.
[11:33] Andrew: You're talking about the main crew.
[11:35] Cassie: Yeah.
[11:36] Andrew: Yes.
[11:37] Cassie: And so I heard about it from like, there used to be this message board in Spring Awakening for any real ones who are listening. It was called the guilty ones. This was like, back like old school message boards. And so you'd put like all your fan stuff in there anyway. So I probably heard about it from there that the show is coming out. And I also really liked this boy band called NLT.
[12:02] Andrew: Anybody heard of it?
[12:03] Cassie: Yeah, Kevin McHale was in it. And so like, it was this little like trifecta of different people that were going to be in the show that I was like, Oh my gosh, I feel like this is going to be amazing.
[12:15] Andrew: Yeah.
[12:16] Cassie: So I think like the first episode had aired and then I was in the cities for my Minnesota Twin Cities for my sophomore year of college. I was old when I started watching Glee. I'm sorry. That's just when it came out. And that's where you were.
[12:30] Andrew: They were doing this.
[12:31] Cassie: Yes. And they were doing a thing at the Mall of America. They were doing like tours around hot topics. And so I went to the Mall of America and you could go and stand in line and get like a signature from them in the hot topic. And then you went and watched the second episode in like the theater in the Mall of America, like a screening of it.
[12:53] Andrew: Wait, I don't think I knew that part of it.
[12:55] Cassie: Really? Like they had like a screening of the second episode?
[12:58] Andrew: Mm hmm.
[12:59] Cassie: Yeah. Like in the movie theater, the AMC or whatever it is that's there.
[13:04] Andrew: Yeah.
[13:05] Cassie: So it was a really cool event. I was actually part of the reason I was late to recording is because I was trying to find my poster. And I have no idea where it is. I thought it was and it wasn't there. So I know you guys both like, we're very disappointed. If I find it, I will take a picture of it and send it. But yeah, it was just like a little like 11 by 17 poster of like, I think it's the one where they're like in the dumpster or someone's in a dumpster.
[13:31] Andrew: Perfect.
[13:32] Cassie: With the megaphone and stuff. And like Terry and Will, Emma and Sue are like on the side.
[13:38] Andrew: Yes.
[13:39] Cassie: Yeah. So it was that one, I think. And like not all of them are at the signing. It was like Corey, Leah, Jenna, Kevin. I don't know. There might've been one or two other people, but it wasn't like the full gambit because I feel like some of those other characters that became prevalent, like after a few episodes, weren't like promoted as heavily when it first came out. You know what I mean? Like Naya.
[14:05] Andrew: Yeah.
[14:06] Cassie: But I feel like Amber was there. Right?
[14:08] Andrew: Probably.
[14:09] Cassie: I don't know. I don't remember. I'd have to look at who signed what, but I was just so obsessed with Leah that I was just like, I had my Spring Awakening shirt when I went in and I was like, I love Spring Awakening. And I'm sure she loved that. And I'm just probably like, I don't finish it.
[14:23] Andrew: But no, she would never say that. She would never say that.
[14:27] Cassie: So yeah, so that's how I came about to Glee. And that's my origin story.
[14:33] Andrew: I feel like really angry at Maggie right now, because Maggie, I feel like you've been kind of like sitting on this information for the years that I've known you now, where you've never mentioned to me that Cassie has this much deep lore with the hit Fox show.
[14:50] Maggie: The NLT mention was low-key kind of crazy.
[14:53] Cassie: Cassie, I really do not give her her flowers enough when it comes to—
[14:57] Andrew: No, not in all things.
[14:58] Cassie: Listeners, Cassie's my sister, by the way. So if I'm being overly mean to her, it's allowed.
[15:05] Andrew: And I don't give her flowers when it comes to Glee, because I do feel like I started watching it, because I started watching it right away. And I think I started watching it because of her and because of her interest in Spring Awakening. I hadn't seen Spring Awakening quite yet, but we as a family did share an iTunes account. And so I had Touch Me was on my iPod Nano, baby, which it creeps me out when we were so young.
[15:30] Cassie: Touch Me? Like literally?
[15:32] Andrew: Touch Me, like a song about having sexual intercourse as a young kid.
[15:37] Cassie: It remains like, literally, I have like four songs that are in my greatest song of all time, where it's like, it's a rotating between the four. Touch Me is in that top four.
[15:45] Cassie: Perfect.
[15:46] Andrew: It's so, it is truly no notes. And I think that because Cassie was so obsessed with it, I'm like, well, my older sister's watching it, so then I have to try to watch it too.
[16:00] Cassie: And this was when Maggie still liked me, so she wanted to be like me. And now it's not the case.
[16:06] Maggie: Truly, truly.
[16:07] Andrew: The tension is rising. It's getting crazy.
[16:10] Cassie: Andrew, the only reason we said yes on such short notice is to air out our problems and record it.
[16:15] Andrew: We need to have it recorded.
[16:17] Cassie: No, I know. I should have brought up her Gleedom long ago. But yeah, she truly is like the target demographic for who Glee was made for, like truly. I know everyone who's been on this podcast and listens to this podcast is like Glee was made for me like I was an outcast. I was weird.
[16:35] Andrew: Let me just let me just put Cassie on blast right now. Our homecoming in our school, okay, our homecoming in our school, we had different dress up days. So like Monday would be like pajama day and Tuesday would be like vacation day. So you'd wear like a Hawaiian shirt or whatever. One of the days when Cassie was in high school was superhero day. And Cassie painted herself green and went as Elphaba. And when everyone was giving her shit on what a superhero is, quote, unquote, she like was like, Well, actually, if you look up the definition in the dictionary of a superhero, blah, blah, blah, blah, and like went on to list why all the reasons why—
[17:05] Cassie: No, I was saying the same shit, Cassie, you and I would have been like this in high school.
[17:09] Andrew: They're like, you're the Wicked Witch. I'm like, actually, her name is Elphaba.
[17:12] Cassie: Actually, if you watch the Broadway musical.
[17:15] Andrew: Yeah, Cassie read Wicked before Wicked was even a phenomenon.
[17:19] Cassie: The Gregory Maguire novel.
[17:21] Andrew: Yes. The big ass, the thing that you could throw through a windshield.
[17:25] Cassie: I'm seeing a through light of like, there's some smut going around. You're reading Wicked, you're watching Spring Awakening. There's some smutty subtext going on.
[17:34] Cassie: I was a repressed teenager. What can I say?
[17:37] Andrew: And also, um, well, Cassie, do you have a favorite?
[17:41] Cassie: Cassie, I understand that you're not a glistener. And that's absolutely okay.
[17:45] Andrew: Wait, are you? You're not?
[17:47] Cassie: No, I've only listened to like a couple episodes. And I think they were just the ones with Maggie on it.
[17:52] Andrew: No, I just haven't.
[17:54] Cassie: It's completely fine.
[17:55] Andrew: Offense taken.
[17:57] Cassie: We do the Glackett. You understand the premise of the Glackett and all of this.
[18:02] Andrew: Yes.
[18:03] Cassie: What is the winner of your Glackett?
[18:06] Cassie: Oh, boy. That's hard. Okay, so let me just say this, because I was in on the Glee train choo choo very early on. But I had a really hard time sticking to the end with the later episodes. I was not as like, connected to those. And all the new people that came in.
[18:24] Andrew: You know, I had a real attitude.
[18:26] Cassie: Um, so a lot of my favorites are like earlier on in.
[18:30] Andrew: Um, and I can't even remember what the name of the song is right now. But it's the one that Blaine sings to the guy in the Gap.
[18:36] Cassie: Literally, literally, Cassie, I was watching that episode before this recording. Literally, I was like, I need to watch an episode to get back into talking about the hit Fox show. What better episode than Silly Love Songs?
[18:49] Andrew: That pisses me off so much.
[18:51] Cassie: Yeah, yeah, it's like a Robin Thicke song.
[18:54] Andrew: That makes me so damn mad because didn't Allison Dodge help kill that song?
[18:58] Cassie: Allison Dodge tried to save it. Heather Morris killed the song.
[19:02] Andrew: Alice in Dodge did kill it.
[19:04] Cassie: You're right. Because, because I she I think she killed it.
[19:08] Andrew: Yeah, I'm pretty sure Allison was like, not a fan of it. And I remember being like really pissed because Silly Love Songs is like one of my favorite episodes.
[19:15] Cassie: As someone that just watched it.
[19:17] Andrew: There is, dare I say it, not a skip in that episode. So I was really mad when she killed that song. So now I'm a glock at anymore, Cassie.
[19:25] Cassie: I know.
[19:26] Cassie: Those are my favorites. And then these probably aren't on the glock at anymore either. But the other ones I really, really liked was when they did the original songs the first time.
[19:33] Andrew: Yeah, like the loser like me and like those ones at, you know,
[19:37] Cassie: Andrew, don't even get me started.
[19:39] Andrew: While you were looking for your Glee poster. That's what me and Maggie were talking about.
[19:42] Cassie: Oh, really?
[19:43] Andrew: Loser like me. Honestly, I can't stand the loser like me slander on this podcast. That's probably the only negative thing I have to say.
[19:50] Cassie: People don't like it.
[19:52] Andrew: Cassie people are in the streets rioting about how much they hate that song.
[19:56] Cassie: No.
[19:57] Andrew: Maybe not the glisteners themselves. But a lot of the guests that have been on here have not appreciated that song for what it is.
[20:05] Cassie: Wait, Cassie, I'm curious, as someone that that maybe didn't wasn't made aware of the new rendition that they did in season five of loser like me. Are you aware of—
[20:16] Cassie: I don't think I am aware.
[20:17] Andrew: The stripped down like coffeehouse version of loser like me that they do?
[20:22] Cassie: Oh, no, I don't think so.
[20:24] Andrew: It's really good. And dare I say, wait, Maggie, I've definitely asked you this at least once before. Where do you stand on it?
[20:30] Maggie: I like it, but I don't think it compares to the original.
[20:34] Andrew: There's something about the energy of it. You know, I think I think that some of the songs have unfair advantages because the like production quality of the songs, you know, there's I don't know if you like put these into categories or not. But, you know, I was rewatching some of the songs before we were recording here. And there's like the circle around the piano songs.
[20:58] Cassie: Yes, right.
[20:59] Andrew: There's like the stare at you and sing at you songs. There's like the emotional on the stage with one spotlight songs.
[21:06] Cassie: Yeah.
[21:07] Andrew: And then there's like the competition songs, right?
[21:09] Cassie: That's exactly how we categorize them. You know what I mean?
[21:13] Andrew: It's just it's yeah, I just I really it's it's it and we talked about it before and I'm gonna beat a dead horse as much as I want because I can and no one can tell me not to. It is honestly a travesty that that song was eliminated so early.
[21:30] Cassie: I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Sometimes the lyrics. Listen, it's not entering the lyrical Hall of Fame for lyrics. We all know that. I think that we can appreciate that we get that.
[21:41] Andrew: But the fact that y'all are out here campaigning so hard for Light Up the World.
[21:45] Cassie: And you're gonna tell me that Give Up the Bark and Bite is a better lyric than like, "Oh, se are I can only be who I are." Shut up.
[21:54] Andrew: I gotta stop you right there. Cassie. Light Up the World. Did you wait? Do you recall this song?
[22:00] Cassie: No.
[22:01] Andrew: Light Up the World tonight. You got it.
[22:04] Cassie: Oh, yeah, yeah, you gotta give up.
[22:07] Andrew: The bark and bite.
[22:08] Cassie: Yeah, yeah, it's where they're wearing—
[22:10] Andrew: Cassie, if you can't remember, I always remember songs on competition outfits. It's when they were wearing the black with the black heel and a black sock, I think, in the black heel. And it had like a little flower on the front.
[22:22] Cassie: That was their competition outfits.
[22:24] Andrew: And they were dark, dark.
[22:26] Cassie: That's when I know that everybody probably talks about this.
[22:29] Andrew: Do we just like talk about stuff until we get to the actual songs?
[22:32] Cassie: Yeah, we talk about stuff. And okay, I don't know, like, if there's like, you know, things we need to get down to brass tacks.
[22:38] Andrew: No, our producer, Lea Michele will come in in a few minutes and be like, you guys need to pull us off.
[22:43] Cassie: Okay, so can I just say, I know they're probably trying to make it look like real show choir outfits. But what the— am I allowed to swear? What have I said?
[22:50] Andrew: No, yes.
[22:51] Cassie: What the fuck is up with all of this horrendous end of the season competition outfits? Like what is with them with like, all the money they had for the show, and all the like, splendor and grandeur of the costumes they had like I was rewatching one of the Lady Gaga episodes, right? And all the crazy costuming they have for that. But then they're like, show choir costumes when they're competing are always like, Empire wasted, like a line dresses that are always so ugly.
[23:19] Andrew: I don't know. I don't think I've ever asked you this. What are your opinions on the competition like tuxedo jackets during ABC?
[23:26] Cassie: I like them. I think that okay, well, the fact that there's only two girls during that, that setlist, Tina and Quinn is a travesty because the dress that they wear for that setlist is like, it's so cute. And I'm like, I wish that we could have seen all the girls in it. I think it's cute. I think it's good. I think that's one of the better ones, actually.
[23:48] Andrew: Oh, see, that's, Andrew, that's what you should do. If you ever, you know, because you have so much free time, put out some type of bonus content, or maybe it's a discussion that you have with Allison Dodge, like pre-recording an episode, because I feel like she's really good at this kind of thing is you should do a mini blackout of competition outfits.
[24:06] Cassie: The worst one is very evident to me.
[24:09] Andrew: Oh, I know we're gonna disagree. I know we're gonna disagree. Go ahead.
[24:12] Cassie: The worst one is is the loser like me dress. I'm talking about the blue, the bright blue with the boots.
[24:18] Andrew: The thing the combat boots, the thing that is weird about that outfit is that those dresses are so rigid. Like they look like they're like having to like waddle out in like, they just they haven't rehearsed in them. They it's the first time wearing them.
[24:34] Cassie: They look like right out of the bag.
[24:36] Andrew: Yeah.
[24:37] Cassie: Okay, let's all on the count of three say what our favorite is at the same time and see if we say the same thing.
[24:43] Andrew: Okay, ready?
[24:44] Cassie: 123.
[24:46] Andrew: Wait, wait a minute. Maggie, you said Journey to Sectionals or Journey to Regionals?
[24:52] Maggie: Oh, sorry to regionals. The gold, the gold, the gold, the gold.
[24:56] Andrew: Oh, the gold 100% the gold that like semi looks like alligator Christmas outfit.
[25:02] Cassie: Yes.
[25:03] Andrew: Like they were gonna go to a Christmas party.
[25:06] Cassie: Yeah. Like, when you have regionals at seven, but a Christmas party—
[25:09] Andrew: When you have regionals at seven, but a Christmas party at nine.
[25:12] Cassie: Wait, what is yours?
[25:14] Andrew: The purple, the purple ones.
[25:16] Cassie: The purple ones are cute.
[25:18] Andrew: Interesting.
[25:19] Cassie: That's like—
[25:21] Andrew: Like a shape that's not like every single one, they went so hard on the belts.
[25:25] Cassie: And it's like, okay, growing up, I was in studio dance, not like competition dance, but studio dance. And when we were first starting, the moms would make all our outfits. And that's what their dresses always look like. Like, they bought a standard blank dress that they could find all the sizes for like Walmart. And then they found a few rolls of ribbon and added them on there and said, boys, we're all black and wear a red tie. You know what I mean?
[25:51] Andrew: Right, what is going on here?
[25:53] Cassie: Like, none of the show is realistic. So why would they make that one part of it real?
[25:58] Andrew: Wait, you're I, you're looking at the picture of the purple dress right now.
[26:02] Cassie: Yeah, I am.
[26:03] Andrew: You are. Okay, wait, there is no belt.
[26:06] Cassie: Yeah, there's a skinny belt.
[26:08] Andrew: There's a little black skinny belt.
[26:10] Cassie: Little, you know, I also forgot about the Valerie and I've had the time of my life. Outfit was pretty trash.
[26:17] Cassie: There's something about it that I'm like, ooh, that it's like, you kind of just ignore it.
[26:21] Andrew: But it's the leggings.
[26:23] Cassie: But the I've had the time of my life one has lots of ribbon, like they had a big budget for ribbon at Walmart that year.
[30:00] Andrew: I love that we're really treating this conversation as serious as we are.
[30:05] Kassie: Well, it's serious business. I can't believe you haven't discussed this on your podcast before.
[30:09] Maggie: We probably have. I have glabentia. The rare occurrence with the Valerie I've had the time of my life costuming is that the boys kind of out-slayed the girls. And I don't know if that's a bad thing to say, but I think they look good. Andrew, they're literally wearing red long-sleeved button-up shirts and black pants. Maroon. Maroon. Okay, whatever. That's not anything special. It's saying something because the dresses are so ugly. Why are their dresses always so ugly? But also, like, I don't know. I really, I think they all look kind of hot. Or, like, they went too hard on David's Bridal. It's just, it's bad. It's bad.
[30:53] Kassie: I do always, though, I do like when, even if they have an ugly outfit, I appreciated when they had the ugly ones and they didn't make, like, Amber Riley wear the shawl.
[31:03] Maggie: Yeah, when they made Lauren Zeisies wear, like, the sleeves. I hated that. And I think the Time of My Life Valerie episode, I don't think they had to wear the, I don't think.
[31:25] Kassie: No, I think that Lauren Zeisies.
[31:26] Maggie: No, Amber Riley didn't because I was just re-watching that and I saw that she didn't have, like, a little jacket on or anything. And I was like, hell yeah, because it makes me mad.
[31:33] Kassie: Wait, there's, I feel like there's, like, one performance where, like, they made Lauren Zeisies have it, but not Amber. Like, it was, like, sometimes, like, there's a differentiation that I'm like, oh, I hate what's happening here.
[31:48] Maggie: Yeah, I don't know. It's kind of ridiculous why they chose to have it the way that they did it. I don't know. And maybe I shouldn't be slandering them. Maybe it was, like, the actor's choices, but. But they did the same thing on, what show was that? There was a Broadway show recently where they did something like that, too. And it was, like, the main character was, like, a size. Oh, it was when Beanie Feldstein was on Broadway versus Lea Michele. Like, their costumes were so completely different. Like, as far as, like, revealing this. And the same thing happened when, who, oh my god, lesbian icon, why can't I think of her name right now? Renee Rapp was in Mean Girls. They, like, modified her costume, too, because they thought she was, like, too big. And she was, like, an 18-year-old at the time. It's, like.
[32:37] Kassie: That's crazy.
[32:37] Maggie: So fucked up. Anyway, sorry.
[32:41] Andrew: No, I do want to put the stamp at the end of this competition outfit that I feel like people are screaming in their headphones right now. We didn't even bring up the national season three red dresses with the black belt, which I think is cute.
[32:56] Kassie: Can we all agree?
[32:58] Maggie: The one with the bow?
[32:59] Kassie: Is that the one with the little bow on the top? Like, the halter top with the bow?
[33:04] Maggie: Yes.
[33:04] Kassie: There is a bow?
[33:05] Maggie: Yes.
[33:05] Kassie: Okay.
[33:06] Maggie: Yeah, there's a bow at the top. And I will say that I think that one is the one that Lea Michele looks, like, the best in.
[33:14] Kassie: They kind of, like, built. Dare I say they built the dress around her. And they were, like, everybody else needs to wear it now.
[33:22] Maggie: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Naya wore that one, right?
[33:25] Kassie: They all wore it.
[33:26] Maggie: She looks.
[33:27] Kassie: Yeah.
[33:28] Maggie: Okay, I just couldn't remember if sometimes I get confused. Gleeks, don't get mad. Sometimes I get confused of the timeline of like, when people are in it when people are in the Troubletones when people are all just gonna hate me because I don't know as much stuff as you guys. So I'll just say something. And then they will forget everything you just said.
[33:44] Kassie: Yeah, but yeah, that's true. Your base your tastings are more basic than mine because you're like a big Warblers girly.
[33:53] Maggie: Oh, but winner of my blackhead since you asked Andrew and you didn't, but because I've said it before is Halo.
[34:02] Andrew: I did check the tapes. I asked multiple times.
[34:06] Maggie: Okay. Halo walking on sunshine is when I'm like, that's a good I do remember you saying this.
[34:11] Kassie: Yes. Although I was like, hopped up on like, drugs. They're like hopped up on vitamin D or something.
[34:17] Andrew: Oh, yeah, famously, famously name of app. I, Andrew want to give flowers to your guests, though, and you have this podcast because I have found that nothing has really swayed me so much as to change my favorite song slash winner of my blackhead from Glee. But your guys's discourse and discussion has changed, I think made me fluctuate like my top 10. Based on the points that people make and the discussion and discourse around the songs. So is there just saying, you guys are talking about like a song in particular?
[34:50] Kassie: Um, now I can't remember. Oh, I remember specifically. It's I don't think it necessarily the one that I can remember the most recently off off the top of my dome is I never really gave a thought to four minutes. I truly never really thought about it. And hearing the conversation about that as someone who was in band my whole life and was in band for a short time in college, Cassie also famously in band in all of her life and college. There is just something to be said about that song. I was listening to that episode in my car on the way home from Costco. I had Harvey, my son in the car, and I put it on and he started dancing in his car seat. So he also thinks it's a banger as well. Yeah, it was just like, I was just like, I kind of forgot that song existed. It's a banger and love it so much. Love it so much.
[35:51] Maggie: Wait, do you have any? Um, I should have asked you to prepare this potentially beforehand. But um, do you have any opinions about like any blackhead competitions that have transpired since your last appearance?
[36:01] Kassie: Yes, I actually do have to because I they have Yeah, they did happen during my last in between my last appearance. But um, it's not things that I'm necessarily glangry about. I'm just disappointed, you know, and Oh my god, that was so scripted. That was all of these episodes are scripted, Cassie, stick to the script that we provided you going off page.
[36:27] Kassie: No, I was really sad. I was really sad about three losing to roses turn and I know I knew it had to I knew it had to but I it's truly baffling some of the songs that are still in the blackhead and three had to go because I've talked about it on I know for sure one of my previous episodes I was on but my favorite thing that Glee the the thing that makes a song god tier or glad tier if you will for me on Glee is scripted is if the if the song the way that they do it on Glee whether that's the vocals or just straight up the arrangement whatever it may be I'm not like super knowledged and versed on like the actual terms when it comes to music and singing um which is great that you have a podcast about right it's perfect but I the thing that makes it god tier is if the Glee version is better than the original and to me three is better than the original and so that was just like really sad to hear, and while we're speaking on it, on it, just because I was listening also to the remaining songs playlist and I was like, okay, like what could we talk about and what do I want to talk about today, I saw that Wide Awake was still in there and I really want to manifest pulling that because you want to save it.
Y'all, honestly, I might. I was thinking about this when I was driving, picking up Harvey, and I was like, this is kind of a bold statement but might be one of the best, if not the best, on the stool singing songs on Glee and there's so many. Honestly, some of their best work is done on school.
[38:22] Maggie: I was I was trying to debate I was trying to debate whether I thought that or landslide were was my number one and like a stool like sample a stool sample yeah yeah speaking of songs that are better than the original I was also listening to Sirius XM bright alert I got a new car and I have a serious radio free trial for three months baby better watch out and the chicks version of landslide came on that's the one that they do obviously yeah obviously we all know even the most casual of gleeks knows that that's the cover they did and dare I say better than the original and I love Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks so don't come for me but that is such a good arrangement.
[39:10] Kassie: No I and it always takes me out that Stevie Nicks showed up on set to watch them do this the chicks version of the landslide hey Stevie Nicks we're doing your song and she's like huh this isn't my version dude I know I saw I saw a tweet once that was uh if you ever want to feel bad about yourself just remember that Stevie Nicks wrote landslide at 24 and I think about it all the time and feel bad about myself all the time because of it.
[39:42] Andrew: Well on that downer Maggie yeah okay well the other thing I just want to say miss you girly but I get you had to leave although I'm more mad about this one than I am about three losing three I understand I'm really sad that hell to the no lost to I think it was it's a man's man's world man's man's man's world I'm correct yeah um I'm just sad yeah uh I don't know that's I forgot that happened do I have any opinions on that right now uh I know I think that like we need to pay respect to the the pregnant like the the during it's a man's man's man's world with the pregnancy pact come on yeah I just think you guys are blinded by by the pregnancy of it all okay and we we need to pay respect to rhyming weedies with diabetes yes talk about yeah lyrical hall of fame like put that in there I mean yeah it's just I'm so sorry it's lapsed um it's okay so we're manifesting wide awake we're manifesting um, wait, Cassie, what, what are we meant, what, I don't know.
I'm just happy to be here. Okay, Cassie, Teenage Dream, I think Teenage Dream season two, still in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, you have it in a Big Gulp, that's so cute. Cassie is so late to the party, all the glycerins are just mad, mad. All these people are like, what does this bitch have that she can come on this podcast, show us your credentials, low-key a flex that you don't listen to this podcast, don't let anybody prove you wrong. Okay, but Andrew, to be fair, the last person that you had on this podcast who didn't listen was Heather Morris herself, so listen. Yeah, I can't compare, although she may listen. Does she listen? I guess I don't remember for sure, but you know what, Heather Morris is in this performance that we're about to watch, she lived it, Maggie, she lived it.
Listen, this is a big one, you already can see. Are we watching it? We're watching, yeah we're watching it. We're gonna watch it. We're gonna talk about it after. I was just gonna have all these memorized. The song here is You Keep Me Hanging On. I'm obsessed with that performance.
[42:02] Kassie: Cassie that's what we call in this school immunity a quo low a Quinn solo when it comes to Lucy Quinn for Bray are you are you a fan of her work?
[42:11] Kassie: Yeah, so here's I I've had a journey with with her because here's the thing is that her voice is kind of like Anya Taylor Joy for me. So no, it's like okay, it like there's something different about it and you can't really pinpoint it, but you're still like drawn in. Like I don't think she like vocally has like the strongest voice, but she has this like nasally tone to it that you can always pick out when she's singing, right? So you know she's like singing, you know, and yeah, it's still like fun and interesting and it's different from everyone else, right? It's not just like the typical Lea Michele belt, you know what I mean? So I like her stuff. I definitely think it's like not as like whoo as like some of the other people vocally, but I like her voice a lot and I think it's like different and that song is is a good in banger and I was thinking about what you were saying about like production value and like with this one, they are doing, they're they're jumping around to so many different locations and they're they're having fun, like the entire, like, world feels like so lived in.
This feels like almost crazy to point out, but we are in, um, round three of the Glackett and this is the third time that we've seen this specific performance that I'm like, okay, I do need to bring this up if I haven't already, but like the fact that there's like three or four people in the bleachers makes the the world feel like so, like, lived in, you know what I mean, that it's like, yeah, if it was full it would not feel realized, but if it was completely empty it would also feel not realized. The fact that there's like specifically like a couple people on the bleachers makes it feel like this world, like I could just like walk right into it, you know what I mean. Yeah, so I think that it kind of has this effect too I was thinking about this as I was watching it because there's like the real world stuff where the Cheerios are like dancing, yeah, on the football field and then it cuts to like the like lights background, yeah, a little football outfit on and it makes me think of like in Chicago when like they're imagining the like full production, right, and I think that Glee sometimes like does that but then they do the opposite because then at the end of the song it's always like someone clapping in the audience, like one person sitting in the auditorium clapping, yeah, or like giving them a glance.
But this one, haven't you talked about this before on the podcast of discussions of things like for example like this song is like do we actually think that they were in the auditorium at that's my question to y'all like I have my theory about it but I want to hear from y'all first like what what do you think is actually happening when you see in this performance because we have, what, three different locations? We have, or I guess like four. She starts in the the hallway, then it's there, they do it on the field as well, they do it on the field, uh, they're in the, they do it on the—oh, hell yeah—um, they're on the football field, uh, they're in the auditorium, and then there's, um, like I feel like there's only like a quick shot of them in the classroom, right?
Uh, yeah, she's—because she's like outside the, she's outside Sue's office. Oh, outside, there's so many different locations in this. She's in a class, yeah, because she's in a classroom staring at Finn and Rachel. Yes, with Britannia backing her in the, like, the aisle behind. Yes, um, wait, so what do you think? I, I guess like the the two big ones are the football field and the auditorium, and I, I feel like there's a differentiation between the two. What do you think?
[46:02] Kassie: Yeah, I don't know. I like to think that the auditorium was like in the head, in her head, like yeah, dramatic. Yeah, well, the materials wouldn't actually do that, like well, obviously, Cassie, but I mean like they would be doing that shit for some performance. That was rude, but they would do the thing on the football field. Thank you, thank you, we need a moderator all the time. Judges will allow it. Um, I know because I, yeah, I think that the football field is most definitely happening, but I think that Quinn's imagination is going wild for like this, like fully. I was thinking about Chicago as well, that she's like thinking about the lights, the different outfits. Yeah, yeah, this, this really is quintessential.
That was not scripted, Cassie, don't come for me. This really is quintessential Glee. I think that this is what Glee was meant to be, like truly. I know that sounds stupid saying that, but I think that like this is what Ryan Murphy wanted to do when he was doing Glee, which is like this is high production. Yeah, yeah, this is like high production value while still being like believable, you know. It's not like so crazy that it's like they wouldn't be doing this in a high school type of thing, like the dancing and the vocals are great. It's a song that's not necessarily, I guess, specifically for the audience. It's not a song like the younger audience who would have been watching Glee at the time, it's like having constantly on repeat, because like that was my favorite part of Glee, is being introduced to new songs.
Don't get me wrong, I loved when they when they jumped on a trend and put in a hit that everybody was listening to, but I also liked learning new music, which to this day there are still some songs where I'm like I've never even actually heard the original and I don't want to. Yeah, well those are some of the best ones because they innovate it more than just yeah. I just feel like this this is just like in the only thing that would make it better is if it was like I don't know everybody was there because I'm a simp for a group number where everyone was there but that's not realistic for this kind of dancing. No, but I feel like what you were saying about like this is I totally agree with you that like this is like what Ryan Murphy was like this was like the vision board and like I without knowing him personally or anything like I feel like he was so happy with this product you know at the end with this performance that it was like it just feels like fully realized and like just like so like fun and what the show is from like start to finish um right so and I almost I I feel like argue with the wall this is the qualo for all qualos this like gets her rage this gets like her like she very good vocals, like we have all the locations.
I love that they're on the football field doing like the cheer routine. Um, I just think it's so, I think it's so fun and really captures her so well. So I will say they did miss an opportunity. I had to look it up because I forgot. Tell me that all of the uh Cheerios, when they were doing the sequence in the auditorium wearing the football outfits, all of their fake jerseys had the number eight on them and I was like oh is that Finn's number but he's number five and I think it would have been because they all ate oh and left no crumbs, no crumbs period, delirious baby. I had so much fun writing the script for this episode and I'm so glad that we're all following it. Um, okay, is there anything final that we need to say about this song before we see what it's up against?
It was just really great but damn Heather Morris can dance her ass off and I'm sorry but any song she's in I have to just stare at her. Diana Agron, you did great, sweetie, but like god, she just pulls focus like nobody else. When they're doing that, the crawling thing on the ground, do you know I'm talking about? Doing the dog, the dog, yeah. Okay, they've done that in other numbers, right? That looks so familiar. They did it in Dinosaur. Okay, that's what it was, because you guys had the discourse in Dinosaur about it, where it was right when she was having a talking about a line about like throwing up or something, right, and people were like it's a cat hacking up a hairball or something, yeah, inspired her mind.
Um, okay, up against You Keep Me Hanging On, I'm spooked for this song. I really, I'm truly not okay. It's another season one song, it's another season, this is, this is good for Cassie. Uh, Cassie, you're gonna, you're gonna know this one because this is another like quintessential solo from another character, uh, I actually don't know, Maggie, where you stand with this one, so I, you might turn your back on, on Quinny. Let's see. I don't have a problem. You know what it is? Do you know what it is? You can see it. It's Jesse's girl. It is Jesse's girl.
[51:26] Andrew: All right um that's a Matt Rutherford loved that he loved that Matt Rutherford was like wait I wish he's like I want Jesse's girl too damn um Cassie that's a follow it's a Finn solo and I need to bring up the legal note of the fact that this is the final follow left in the Glackett I looked it up while this performance was happening there are 11 follows um and this is the final one remaining in the Glackett and if you don't mind brutal I need to say I need to say my piece about this song because please and I hate starting with a sour note but I really can't contain it I feel like I need to put on a show for this song because like I feel as though there's such fanfare for Jesse's girl that I am not understanding I think that when you look at like other follows there's so many others that I really just fucking love so much more.
[53:50] Kassie: Yeah I was gonna say this isn't his song name him there's one other one name him no but like name him but you understand what I'm saying Cassie that like when this is like kind of like the this is like the Rachel's like Don't Rain on My Parade you know like Mercedes and I Am Telling You I think that what would you say you're saying this song is Finn's drop but you don't think it's Finn's drop I don't like it but I think that this is his drop right I you think that you think that people think this is his drop sorry yes I think that people okay I think that people think that this is his drop I but I also think that it is his drop what else would be his drop well you're saying that there are so much better songs so let me hear what you think his drop is but I think that if you're coming out here.
[54:46] Kassie: No we're actually insane and we need to be humbled Cassie Cassie you know how Don't Rain on My Parade is kind of like Lea Michele slash I should say Rachel Berry's like song like in season one she comes out swings those doors open two hands flying in front of her face and she just starts belting Don't Rain on My Parade that's drop that's um yeah I mean I don't know that Finn has one of those but I will say I think his version of I'll Stand By You is way better than Jessie's Girl.
[55:12] Andrew: Okay, so there's actually only, yeah, there's only 11 follows in the entire series and, um, if you don't mind, I'm gonna list them. Um, this is the, the order mind actually, yeah, okay, I won't. Um, the order is from someone four years ago, this is their ranking on the Gledit, the Glee Reddit. Um, that's where Cassie, the Glee Reddit, Gledit. Uh, Losing My Religion is number one, Jessie's Girl number two, She's Not There, Just The Way You Are, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, More Than A Woman, I'll Stand By You, Hello I Love You, Can't Fight This Feeling, I've Got To Be Me, and You're Having My Baby in last place. I think they're, they're big, there's a big three for me when it comes to the follow.
Okay, I auction, yeah, go ahead. Cass, isn't Can't Fight This Feeling like the song he auditioned with? Oh, that's the, that's, um, in the shower, in the choir audition. Yeah, and didn't, didn't he actually audition with that when Corey, you're saying Corey, oh, am I imagining that or is it just because I'm thinking of the shower thing? I take two weeks talking about, two weeks off talking about the hit fuck show Glee, and I I can't remember anything. You may be right, I you probably are. Glee card revoked, I'm giving it up. I didn't know what a glomp was or whatever it's called. Cassie, god, have some respect, have some gliss back. It's a glomp drop. Uh, I I think that, uh, Just The Way You Are is probably my favorite follow.
Love Just The Way You Are, Just The Way You Are, it's so good. I think that might be my favorite one, it's so cute. Although Andrew, you probably don't remember this because it was literally a million years ago, yes, but the first episode that I was on, my top 10, Girls Just Want To Have Fun was in my top 10, really, still to this day, and obviously, okay, well, here's the thing, obviously I know the context of the song is bad bad bad bad bad okay I understand everybody the arrangement of that song the mp3 though is in the echelons of how I feel about the mp3 of teenage dream season four when I wanted it to be the first dance song at my wedding and Andrew roasted me for wanting a breakup song talking about different versions of the song on the last episode you were on of this I feel like I was listening to a thing and you were like mp3 versus mp4 and you were like I'll talk I'm like what are you an av expert or what well because because here's the thing with some of these glee songs is the for example famously the season four version of teenage dream darren chris decided to sing it live yeah so it is not necessarily as high production value you can hear I don't know I'm gonna sound like a bitch now on it yeah like you can hear on the episode like a little bit more like pitchiness or like whatever I don't know I'm not an expert and he is amazing, don't get me wrong, but in the the produced version on iTunes it is like seriously like an angel lullaby.
It's like so, so gorgeous, and the the mp4 of Girls Just Want to Have Fun is him obviously like being horrible for outing Santana and singing this song to her and being like lesbians, yeah, girls just want to have fun and like kiss other girls and like why don't you just forgive me, I'm singing to you, and like obviously he's a teenager and he screwed up and he's not going about a lot of, yeah, he goes about a lot of his mistakes trying to fix them in horrible ways, as we know with his character. But the actual like arrangement of the song, if you just heard it, you've never watched Glee before and you just heard the arrangement of Girls Just Want to Have Fun, it is truly beautiful and I don't think anyone can argue with that in and of itself so I really like the arrangement.
I would say it's been years since I've listened to Gleecast's version of Girls Just Want to Have Fun. So Andrew, can I, can I seriously, can you please actually listen to it after this? I will and report back. I will report back and I'll let you know. Okay, what's your, what's your favorite follow? Getting really emotional, you guys, it's just, it's just, I really, it's getting real. I like, I, I feel deeply, as many gleeks do, about particular songs and they not, they get shit on on this podcast, but they kind of get shit on. Uh-huh, and I, I just want them to semi be able to defend themselves, and when I say they I mean me defend them, like Loser Like Me and like Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Um, but all of that is to say, Andrew, I want to hear what your favorite follow is. Oh, I think It's Just the Way You Are is number one, but I think honorable mention
[1:01:00] Andrew: If they brought in someone else to play my silhouette, I would literally...
[1:01:05] Kassie: Be okay with that?
[1:01:06] Andrew: No, I would be furious. I'd be like, so what's wrong with my silhouette?
[1:01:12] Kassie: I don't think it's that they thought she was uggo or anything. I think it's just like a cost-effectiveness thing. Like maybe she was filming something else. If you don't need someone, you're not going to see their face. And you can find someone who looks like their lighting devil.
[1:01:25] Andrew: A fun question for the Gleeks. Do we...
[1:01:27] Kassie: Gleeks, let's go.
[1:01:28] Andrew: Gleeks, let's go.
[1:01:30] Kassie: Someone's going to do a really insane analysis of it.
[1:01:36] Andrew: Let's flood Ryan Murphy's DM.
[1:01:38] Kassie: Let's flood Ryan Murphy's DM.
[1:01:39] Andrew: Her boobs are here in the shadow, but not in real life.
[1:01:43] Kassie: Why are her boobs falling like this then?
[1:01:47] Andrew: My final question is for Cassie, because Cassie is technically the only person in this gloop chat who has met Cory Monteith. And this sounds like a dumb question, but Cassie, is he as large as he seems? Every time I see him in Glee, I'm just like, you know how some people are tall, obviously, because they just are. But not all tall people carry themselves largely, like big Glee.
[1:02:15] Kassie: People carry themselves largely.
[1:02:18] Kassie: Okay, I have met, I met him once, and he was sitting at a table at a Hot Topic.
[1:02:25] Andrew: So do I remember his size? Not really.
[1:02:29] Kassie: Okay, well, even just him, just him sitting at that drum set. I was just like, he just seems like he is just such a like, postured person who just carries himself in a very tall way, even though I know he's tall. Like, he just seems like he just has that way about him. And I just...
[1:02:47] Andrew: Wait, Cassie, did you have any sort of like, special connection with anybody at that fateful day? At Hot Topic?
[1:02:55] Kassie: Did you talk? Did you actually say anything to anyone? Or were you just like, hey?
[1:02:59] Kassie: In 2009, remember?
[1:02:59] Kassie: Well, Lea Michele complimented my shirt. But that was it. She said, nice shirt. And I was like, hey! Just like that.
[1:03:07] Andrew: And she said, why did you respond that way?
[1:03:10] Kassie: She said, what's wrong with you? Get out of here. No, I mean, there was hundreds of people in line. So it wasn't like, hey, let's sit and talk all day.
[1:03:19] Kassie: Hey, you guys.
[1:03:19] Kassie: It was like, you put your poster on the table and they like, signed it and you walked down and said like, hi. And I've always been one of those people who's really awkward and don't know how to talk to like, people I look up to or celebrities, even if I have like, the time to actually talk to them. I just like, don't know what to say and don't want to be an idiot. So I usually barely say anything.
[1:03:37] Andrew: Well, I need to tell you, Cassie, this is the perfect opportunity for me to tell you that I had a similar experience with Lea Michele when she was doing the Funny Girl cast recording signing. And everybody had like, a few seconds while they were signing to say something. And I was like, what am I going to say? And I just like, told her. I was like, in hindsight, this is so fucking stupid. Whatever. I was just like, I have a and we call Don't Rain On My Parade drop. And she was like, Yeah, we all do. Not that original.
[1:04:21] Kassie: Andrew, when you pass, you need to get it on your headstone. Just in quotes. Yeah, we all do. We all call it drop. We have so much time that we can say, don't rain on my parade.
[1:04:35] Andrew: And that's what I'm so fearful of. I think people always want to leave this impact when they talk to a celebrity or be like, oh, I wanted my interaction to be special. And I'm like, I know I'm not special. I have nothing interesting to say. So I'm just gonna be like, hi. And then it was like, crazy, because then immediately afterwards, I was like, I think that was like low key, like, okay, fight or flight. And so I was like, okay, let me say something that may might impress her. And I was like, okay, well, we call Rachel Solos Rollos. And she was like, okay. All right. I would have cried. Are you? Are you gonna tell her that it's when she's on the pod? She's on this podcast, because she will be someday before this year.
This is 2026. This is this is the year that it will happen. You gotta say it. We'll do a follow up with Lea Michele, Lea Michele, we have a bone to pick with you, mama. How long are these episodes usually once you edit them? Because Cassie, there have been episodes that are three hours. Okay, Cassie, wait, do you have a hard time? We can we can wrap it up. No, I do not. I don't have a life. Um, I was just here. I was just curious. I was like, I could just sit and yap forever. But I also don't want to like, yeah, no, you're good. Okay. Wait, Cassie. Hold on. Cassie, we talked about it. We talked about it on our podcast, shameless plug, again, listen to Skip or Scream or Scream. But Cassie also famously entered a dance competition recreating Corbin Bleu's music video Push It to the Limit, where the winner got a phone call from him and got to be in his MySpace top friends. And guess what? Cassie won that shit. Yeah, she also got a personal phone call from Corbin Bleu.
[1:06:21] Kassie: That's like my one chat Dan birth. Does Corbin Bleu hold himself largely as someone that talked to him on the phone? You know, over the phone, I could really feel his large presence. Okay. You know, I really just took up the whole phone space.
[1:06:35] Andrew: I just love the question. Does he hold himself largely?
[1:06:46] Kassie: I just think that he just wants to like put his arms out like this and be like, I'm big. I'm not, I'm not even just talking about his height, because obviously, we all know he's tall, we have eyes. He just seems like someone who carries himself in a very like, yeah, sophisticated, charming way. And yeah, he just he's tall, but he also has a very seems lovely. He seems like he has like a very meek personality, if that makes sense. Like he doesn't like shy, the biggest shy boy in the room. Yeah.
[1:07:23] Andrew: That's good. He is the biggest person in the room probably, but he doesn't want to be big, friendly, giant, Roald Dahl. Yeah. Wait, Maggie, this is shameless. This is a shameless plug for my height. As someone Andrew, you bring it up all the time.
[1:07:40] Andrew: Hey, by the way, let's make it about me. As someone that is also very tall, do I hold myself largely as someone that met that we've met? We've met in person once now?
[1:07:53] Maggie: Well, Andrew, I think it's funny that everyone who's been on this podcast, who let's just say, like, their introduction to you was this podcast, and then they met you in person, and then they come on this podcast, they always have to mention that they didn't know you were tall.
[1:08:06] Andrew: And I'm large as hell. Yeah. Like, what is your height? Because I would think you're like 5'10".
[1:08:11] Andrew: I'm 6'9".
[1:08:20] Maggie: I would think you're just like average dude height. I don't know.
[1:08:27] Andrew: Wait, no, I'm not 6'9". I'm 6'2". I don't know why I lied. I was like, 6'9" is huge.
[1:08:34] Maggie: I expected a larger reaction from that, but yeah.
[1:08:39] Andrew: I laughed. I laughed because there's not very many people in the NBA because I'm an NBA fan who are 6'9". So the fact that you chose 6'9" was pretty funny for me.
[1:08:45] Andrew: Well, you know, I'm 5'2", so everything seems big to me, but Cassie's teeny tiny.
[1:08:53] Kassie: You do to answer your question, Andrew. Yes, you do carry yourself largely. Largely.
[1:08:59] Kassie: There's something in the way that we're talking about this that does lend itself to title of app, but I don't know exactly what it is. We will find it, but I think more importantly, we do need to decide. I'm trying to stall. I'm trying to stall because I don't want to do it. I think we know what we need to do, but we just don't want to do it because of, you know.
[1:09:15] Andrew: We've, no. We need to vote.
[1:09:23] Kassie: No. No. Okay, well, I know what I think. I know what I want. I think Cassie, why don't you vote first?
[1:09:28] Kassie: Okay, can you vote, but can you please give me at least, like, two bullet points of why you're voting the way you are?
[1:09:36] Kassie: Good assignment.
[1:09:37] Kassie: Sure. Okay, so I'm voting for the Keep Me Holdin' On. Is that the name of the song?
[1:09:45] Andrew: You Keep Me Hangin' On.
[1:09:51] Kassie: Yeah. You Keep Me Hangin' On. Okay, I vote for that one because I like dancing and I think that that song, what I was talking about before with, like, some of the older or, like, the current songs where they don't innovate it, I don't feel like Jessie's Girl, like, was brought to another level by being on Glee whereas the, the, um, Quinn song, like, there's the dancing and the production and whatever and the Jessie's Girl was just like, okay, we get it. He wants Jessie's Girl and he's gonna sing at her about it. It was fine. It was good. Was she in the hospital because she had, like, laryngitis? Was that when she had laryngitis?
[1:10:25] Andrew: She was gonna, like, yeah, lose her vocal cords or something.
[1:10:29] Kassie: I am gonna have so many people mad at me in the comments with me saying-
[1:10:33] Andrew: No, no, you're fine.
[1:10:33] Kassie: You really aren't, Cassie. You aren't because here's the thing. The, the glisteners of this podcast are Quinn apologists first and people second.
[1:10:44] Andrew: Yeah. Like, you can, as long as you're on Team Quinn, you can literally do no wrong on this podcast.
[1:10:47] Kassie: Why is everyone so obsessed with Quinn?
[1:10:52] Andrew: Why would they not be? Good question. I don't know.
[1:10:52] Kassie: I'm gonna-
[1:10:52] Andrew: I just was curious.
[1:10:57] Kassie: You already did. You already did your favor. Quinn over Corey? That seems surprising.
[1:11:04] Andrew: Mama, you already voted for Quinn. You're in the clear.
[1:11:11] Kassie: Let's not-
[1:11:11] Andrew: I know. Okay.
[1:11:11] Kassie: I'm just saying.
[1:11:11] Andrew: You're in the, in the queer.
[1:11:11] Kassie: Anyway.
[1:11:11] Andrew: There it is.
[1:11:11] Kassie: Yeah. Anyway, Maggie, is it obvious to you what you're doing?
[1:11:17] Maggie: I, I already know what you're doing, Andrew, and this is not a pity vote. I'm voting for Jessie's Girl.
[1:11:23] Andrew: Why?
[1:11:23] Maggie: And-
[1:11:23] Andrew: Two bullet points.
[1:11:28] Maggie: Yeah, give me two bullet points, Maggie.
[1:11:28] Maggie: Okay, I'm gonna, you know me, you know I love the app, so I'm gonna talk. I know I said that Keep Me Hanging On was quintessential Glee, and it is, and I think in a way that Jessie's Girl also is because it also has various locations. It has the campness of, like, the drama that these teenagers feel about things that are so minuscule that mean nothing. Like, Finn staring at the silhouette of the girl he has a crush on changing, like, is just, like, so funny to me. I think Matt Rutherford loved him dancing, and like, the people- you could see Goth Tina in the background, which I also love Goth Tina phase when she's wearing her Victorian frills, and I also love a good Cory Monteith drum sesh, and I just think that there's something really special about the way that he, like, gets up in her face and is, like, essentially singing at her. I want you. Not to her. Yeah, like, I want you.
[1:12:31] Kassie: All those classroom songs, they do that.
[1:12:31] Andrew: No, they don't.
[1:12:31] Kassie: No, they don't, Cassie. Don't you come on here being all intense when you aren't even a season five and six watcher. Don't even say that.
[1:12:44] Andrew: Slur.
[1:12:44] Kassie: Okay. I just, I think, Cassie, it is true, and I will respect your vote, but I will put an asterisk that anything with dancing automatically has, like, a little bit of sprinkle points on top of it for you because you are a dancer at heart.
[1:13:04] Kassie: So, it's hard. There's some songs that I like a lot.
[1:13:09] Andrew: Huh? What'd you say?
[1:13:13] Kassie: I said there's some stool songs that I like a lot that I would pick over dancing songs.
[1:13:18] Andrew: Every time we're saying stool songs, I'm immediately thinking, like, listen.
[1:13:23] Kassie: Like, a lot of the a cappella songs are really high up there for me, personally.
[1:13:28] Andrew: Okay. Well, yeah, your favorite song on Glee, the winner of your Glackett, isn't a dance number, so I shouldn't, I shouldn't slander your good name too hard.
[1:13:32] Kassie: Kind of. Um, I just, oh my god, I just think that there's something out of control. You guys need to apologize and make up right now.
[1:13:46] Andrew: Never.
[1:13:46] Kassie: This is good. This is good. This is good fuel going into our recording tomorrow coming back from a hiatus. We need to be angry with each other.
[1:13:49] Andrew: You can advertise this as the most controversial episode you've ever had.
[1:13:55] Kassie: Mama, that is high. That is a high bar to be Cassie there.
[1:14:02] Andrew: There's been some matchups.
[1:14:12] Kassie: You need to show up at Maggie's door.
[1:14:20] Andrew: I wish I had. I wish I had the like, Glee prowess of like, Connor and Ian and all these, these Glee greats that you've had on the podcast that can put into words why this song is so special.
[1:14:25] Kassie: You've been really good with your words.
[1:14:25] Andrew: Oh, well, thank you. I'm trying. But I know you said Andrew that you just like essentially like don't get Jesse's Girl. I don't get like, yeah, and I think that it truly is. I hate to use this. But if you get it, you get it. And if you don't, you don't feel bad. And I think that I just do get it. And I think it's okay if you don't. But I'll just say my vote is for Jesse's Girl.
[1:14:48] Kassie: She's saying we're dumb dumbs.
[1:14:55] Andrew: Okay. I vote Jesse's Girl. You know what's gonna make you feel dumb dumb, Maggie?
[1:15:05] Kassie: No! Beep!
[1:15:05] Andrew: Or you Keep Me Hangin' On.
[1:15:05] Kassie: Beep!
[1:15:10] Andrew: I'm gonna bleep it out. Beep!
[1:15:10] Kassie: Wait, and also, I don't want people to think that like, okay, Quintapologist, Quintapologist, whatever, this, this podcast is just kind of like, disguised as a Diana Agron slay podcast. A lot of people are saying this. But I will say, in defense of voting out the final follow of the Glockett, I will say that Cory Monteith shines so much better in other performances that are not solos. I'm thinking about-
[1:15:32] Andrew: I agree. That's fair.
[1:15:45] Kassie: I'm thinking about his duets with Lea, magical. I'm talking about Paradise by the Dashboard Light and all these other, like, Somebody to Love and all these other performances where it's like, he's leading the group. I think that him by himself, for me, I don't know, is not his best work. I like to see him part of an ensemble. And that's kind of the special part. This probably was not intentional, and I'm reading way too much into it. But isn't that kind of the special part of Finn's character?
[1:16:19] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:16:19] Kassie: Like, his whole thing is that he like, even towards the end of when he's in the show, is like, he just like, doesn't know who he is. The beginning of the show, he doesn't know who he is. He thinks he's a jock, but he has this passion for singing and yada, yada, yada, you know. And he really like, finds himself in like, lifting up others. That's kind of like, what his whole thing is, is like, bringing people around him to be, yeah, ground people to be the best versions of themselves, in turn, making him the best version of himself. So in a way, I think that's probably why he like, shines like, like, even the acting that Cory Monteith does in the group numbers is very like, you can see the joy, you can see the joy radiating from him doing this thing. And I that probably was not an acting choice. That's probably just how they made it appear.
[1:17:10] Andrew: Yeah, yeah. And who he and who he is. But I totally get what you're saying, Andrew, and I understand that. And I agree with it. I just I do hold a special place for Jesse's Girl in my heart. So I'm glad that I had one one vote for it. And it'll go down in the glistery books as having at least one vote when everyone's like, who killed Jesse's Girl? Who did this?
[1:17:32] Kassie: My name won't be in that book.
[1:17:36] Andrew: Can we just have a moment for what Maggie just said? Because that was kind of beautiful.
[1:17:41] Kassie: And no, I would say that it's like even more than kind of beautiful. I think it was actually, actually beautiful.
[1:17:47] Andrew: Glutiful?
[1:17:48] Kassie: Yeah.
[1:17:48] Andrew: Oh, okay.
[1:17:49] Kassie: Yeah. No, thank you. That was really beautiful. You're right.
[1:17:53] Andrew: Thank you.
[1:17:54] Kassie: Thank you so much, Maggie. Do we want to go into our final competition of the episode?
[1:18:00] Andrew: Please.
[1:18:01] Kassie: Final competition, there's only two.
[1:18:04] Andrew: Hey, mama, it's still the final one.
[1:18:06] Kassie: Okay.
[1:18:07] Andrew: Hey, mama.
[1:18:09] Kassie: Oh, no.
[1:18:10] Andrew: Another one that's like, people, people would kill to have this in their episode, actually.
[1:18:16] Kassie: Oh, Andrew, don't say that. That's so much pressure.
[1:18:19] Andrew: It is a lot of pressure. It's a lot.
[1:18:21] Kassie: And you're wasting it on Cassie.
[1:18:23] Andrew: No, Cassie. I think that you respect a diva when you see it. And this one most certainly is.
[1:18:33] Kassie: Where the hell is she?
[1:18:39] Andrew: Her pronouns are most certainly she.
[1:18:40] Kassie: She her.
[1:18:44] Andrew: Where is she?
[1:18:51] Kassie: I like the fanfare of you not saying what the song is until it pops up on our screens.
[1:18:55] Andrew: Is sorry, just for the record, is Jesse's Girl he him?
[1:18:58] Kassie: Jesse's Girl is he him? Even though it has.
[1:19:01] Andrew: Oh, you're saying the pronouns of the songs? You weren't talking about the pronouns?
[1:19:02] Kassie: Yes.
[1:19:04] Andrew: Oh, wow.
[1:19:06] Kassie: This is how far deep we're in.
[1:19:10] Andrew: This is how this podcast is, Cassie.
[1:19:17] Kassie: I love it. I just feel bad that I'm like not in the know.
[1:19:21] Andrew: This is a crash course.
[1:19:24] Kassie: Person to have on here.
[1:19:27] Andrew: All that matters, Cassie, is are you a glistener after this?
[1:19:30] Kassie: Yeah, I'm not going to get invited back. So.
[1:19:33] Andrew: Oh boy.
[1:19:34] Kassie: Okay. So you can see the title of the song here. Love Song.
[1:19:37] Andrew: That was really, really incredible. I went into this performance being like, okay, Love Song. Obviously, a lot of people really love this song. Love Song.
[1:19:46] Kassie: Um, but, like, is it really? Is it really as good as I remember it being?
[1:19:53] Kassie: It?
[1:19:54] Andrew: Okay, can I say something? Can I say something?
[1:19:56] Kassie: Say it.
[1:19:56] Andrew: For three gorgeous, gorgeous girlies, like stunning women in terms of like the actual individuals. I have never seen them dressed worse.
[1:20:08] Kassie: No, don't say that. Really? Are we really saying that?
[1:20:10] Andrew: No, they're...
[1:20:10] Kassie: Costumers on this show need a stern talking to.
[1:20:14] Andrew: Although it was very much of the time.
[1:20:16] Kassie: And hair, Rachel's hair looks great, but she's wearing like an oversized blouse with a pencil skirt and the blouse is not tucked into the skirt.
[1:20:24] Andrew: Like screen grab and then I'm gonna, we're gonna like actually break it down.
[1:20:28] Kassie: Quinn, Quinn is wearing, Quinn's dress isn't terrible, but the hair choice of like the two daggers sticking out of her hair and frame, they just didn't. They're lucky that these women are the most beautiful women to walk the planet because they just didn't do them any favors in these outfits. And then Santana with the like high ankle boots, but also knee high socks.
[1:20:52] Andrew: I will say that Santana is most certainly the worst fit here.
[1:20:57] Kassie: And a striped dress, which you're not supposed to wear. Horizontal stripes.
[1:21:01] Andrew: We can wear whatever we want. Ladies can wear whatever they want.
[1:21:04] Kassie: Wait, what is the rule about horizontal stripes?
[1:21:07] Andrew: It makes you look wider is the rule.
[1:21:09] Kassie: That's just like an old saying is that yeah, you wear you wear a woman alive, Naya Rivera.
[1:21:14] Andrew: Oh my god, she literally could wear a sack and look like a model. And why is Quinn? Why is Quinn wearing gray tights? I'm sorry. This is horrible for an audio medium. I'm so sorry.
[1:21:25] Kassie: You're explaining it. You're explaining what we're looking at.
[1:21:28] Andrew: I just like, I hate to come into this with hostility. I just feel like there's gonna be...
[1:21:34] Kassie: I just thought this song was gonna get met with a ton of praise. And I just kind of wanted to kind of keep everyone's levels and check here because right off the bat, I was like, that's intense.
[1:21:45] Kassie: Can I say something? And I'm gonna say I can't. Okay, so I did a little bit. I did do a little bit of studying before I came on here because Maggie showed me all the songs that were left in the glass. So I watched all the music videos to make sure I was up on it because I didn't know that you watch all the music videos.
[1:22:01] Andrew: Yeah, yeah.
[1:22:07] Kassie: And so okay, so I watched this one because I don't remember seeing this one in the show. So it must have been in the later seasons.
[1:22:11] Andrew: This was my question to you, Cassie.
[1:22:15] Kassie: Wait, wait, finish your thought.
[1:22:15] Kassie: I don't remember that.
[1:22:18] Kassie: Well, okay, so I don't remember seeing this when I was watching. I was like, and I really love Sara Bareilles. Like I've seen her live. And I love her. And Leah starts singing and Leah. We all know I came into this being a hugely ahead. Okay, she was there are some people in this show who really have some amazing vocal talent here. Okay. And well, he has a certain he's saying a lot of stuff that no one's ever said before.
[1:23:00] Andrew: Wait a minute. You're telling me Leah Michele good singer alert.
[1:23:05] Kassie: No, but I mean, like, Leah Michele is very good at like, you know, her glomp or whatever don't do that. You know, it's drama.
[1:23:12] Kassie: Her drama. But like, when it comes to the more like, contemporary songs, she's like, fine. Like, she's a good vocalist. But I think someone like, you know, Santana is more fun to listen to or like, Amber Riley's character. So it's like, when she first starts out singing this song, you're just kind of like, Oh, another Rachel song, whatever. And then when they come up with those harmonies, I was just like, Oh, girl, yes, please give me more of that. And I was like, vibing the layer. And that's what saved it for me is, again, no, not close to nothing about music. But the layering here is like, probably like the harmonies and melodies, baby harmonies and melodies in this sound good are probably this is God's here when it comes to Glee cast versions.
[1:24:04] Andrew: This is okay. Here's, here's the big question then Andrew better than the original.
[1:24:09] Kassie: I would rather listen to this than the original. Yes. I just think it's you. It's so beautiful. Like, um, I think the chorus, I think there was missed opportunity. One of my favorite parts of the original love song is like, at the end of the song, there's like a part where she does this really cool like dip. And I think we have a show. I know what you're talking covers that vocal here and wait, what part of it? What is this? Kind of just what is the lyric that dips? It's like cuz you asked for it. She like does this dip and it's but it's like kind of like guttural and like really juicy and Leah Michele just sing straight over it.
[1:24:35] Kassie: What about when she sings?
[1:24:48] Andrew: Yeah, she can sing no guttural because she sings you are that's true.
[1:24:53] Kassie: We're not talking about that song.
[1:24:53] Andrew: We're not talking about that one.
[1:24:53] Kassie: Stop. Are you a hater of this song?
[1:24:58] Andrew: I know I am I am coming across really hot and heavy. No, I kind of am a hater. I just scared I am. I so this Andrew remind me. This is after she refuses to be naked in her in that was my question to Cassie. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, Andrew cut it out.
[1:25:20] Kassie: Okay, wait, rewind.
[1:25:25] Andrew: We've we struck that from the record.
[1:25:25] Kassie: Maggie, please follow the script that I provided.
[1:25:30] Andrew: Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry. Cassie, if you were to guess what the context of them singing this song is, what would it be?
[1:25:33] Kassie: I would think it was because they asked her to be naked.
[1:25:44] Andrew: And no, I would have you're right out of crazy is Oh, my gosh.
[1:25:50] Kassie: Yeah, if I would have had Okay, when I was watching this, because they give you the little like, in the YouTube video I watch, they give you like the little nugget at the beginning where she's like, yeah, being on a robe. And it's like, so I knew it was something with like, when she was in New York or whatever. And they're like, you know, she's in some production, and they want her to do something she doesn't believe is right. So I knew it was something like that. But I didn't know it was being Nikki. But then riddle me this, then why are the two other girls in this song with her?
[1:26:17] Andrew: Does something here we go. Oh, here we go.
[1:26:23] Kassie: No, it's just like, lay on us get this Cassie. Quinn leaves Yale and Santana leaves the the University of Kentucky of Louisville to show up because they've been informed that Rachel is debating being naked in a student film. And so then they sing this song after she ultimately decides, you guys are right, I'm not gonna be naked. Let's sing Sara Bareilles.
[1:26:41] Andrew: And I couldn't have been like a text.
[1:26:41] Kassie: This could have been an email.
[1:26:41] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:26:41] Kassie: I mean, good for them. I'm glad they support each other so much. But yeah, that that's quite the premise. That's like, that's a quintessential story framing, right?
[1:27:11] Andrew: It's it's so good that they're like, wait, and that we miss and that we really want this song. We want this song to be in here. And we need these three girls to be in it. How can we make them get together? Like we have this beautiful recording of Diana Agron, Lea Michele and Naya Rivera singing Love Song. What could we possibly build a story around with it?
[1:27:30] Kassie: Yes. Um, which I think like, in in other TV shows would be points against it. But I think that like, the fact that this storyline is so stupid is like it actually really helps it for me.
[1:27:38] Andrew: Well, I was gonna say something that would have given it more points in my head is like the first obviously the first scene when she's putting on a robe and grabbing her bag and leaving and being like, I'm not doing this and start singing but also like the first whatever 30 seconds or so of her scene she's surrounded by a band and the band is all shirtless. And I think it would have been hilarious shirtless men. I think it would have been hilarious if while these three girls are just belting their little hearts out if there was just like a band of shirtless men like playing.
[1:28:08] Kassie: Oh, they follow them to this auditorium.
[1:28:12] Andrew: Well, because it was like, it was why was it only one clip of Rachel singing in front of the band? And then all of a sudden, the band is not like Rachel starts off the song just her and then she's like, Wait, I got to find my girls who convinced me not to be naked.
[1:28:39] Kassie: Yeah, but then yeah, but she the auditorium and there's a she goes out. She goes, Okay, hold on, though. Hold on. Rewind the tapes. She starts singing, walking out, and then she goes to the band and start singing with the band and then leaves. So it's like she made the choice. She made the choice.
[1:28:58] Andrew: Huh?
[1:29:06] Kassie: Yeah. But I would have liked to see those random shirtless men.
[1:29:11] Andrew: Oh, it was doing something for you. It was just funny the way that it like the song starts with the piano playing, but it's just zoomed in on a shirtless man playing the piano and like his torso.
[1:29:17] Kassie: Yeah. A beautiful thumbnail. I'd say. Beautiful.
[1:29:22] Andrew: I do need to bring up the glistory of this song in the Glackett, which also crazy glistory. Cassie, let me inform you what this song has been through. Love Song made it through round one. And then in the first episode of round two, it lost to If I Were a Boy. Glee cast version by the Glee cast, sung by Alex Newell. And so that was very contested. People were like, I hate round two. I can't believe that we're starting round two on this.
[1:30:00] Andrew: And then in the final episode of round two, like over a year later, there was a vote back of like any song and it was like the fan favorite and this song beat them all out. And so it had a bookend kind of a history love song and it's here today. I'm terrified of what it could potentially be against because there's been so much history applied to it. But, uh, yeah, well, that okay, so that's part of my question to you. And I guess because, uh, Maggie and I have like five listeners on our podcast and they're all like our relatives and our friends.
[1:30:37] Kassie: Okay, Cassie, that's not true. Not anymore. The glisteners are popping off. But like, do most of the listeners on this podcast, have they listened to like every episode so they know the full history of like the ins and outs of all the songs, like getting voted through and everything?
[1:30:59] Andrew: I feel like if they're here in round three, they probably are. They've been at it since the beginning. I just wonder how many like hate emails you're gonna get when we give like hot takes, you know?
[1:31:10] Kassie: Oh, no, I think that like, I think that they understand. There have been a lot of bad things that have happened on this podcast. So, um, so I think that like, it's like kind of like par for the course.
[1:31:22] Andrew: And that, okay, this is kind of like what you're in up for now. So, um, I do want to bring up favorite part of this performance is when Naya does the little like, uh, kind of like gives the spotlight to Quinn. I love that. And I know that they like cut short, like the little Quinn part of the song.
[1:31:46] Kassie: Um, that you'll leave the light on.
[1:31:56] Andrew: Yeah, and then it switches. And then they cut it and it's like, it's a really bad cut. But I really like what we did get to see. Um, I just think that's that part is so cute. I love this performance so friggin much. Is there any final notes that we need to say about love song?
[1:32:07] Kassie: No, I think well, there's one question that we all need to answer. Would you perform naked? Or would you make the same choice that Rachel did?
[1:32:20] Kassie: Like you would?
[1:32:21] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:32:22] Kassie: Wow. Yeah. You didn't even hesitate. No hesitation.
[1:32:27] Andrew: Well, I guess the context is kind of important here. She wasn't going to make any money. So no.
[1:32:33] Kassie: It's a student film.
[1:32:34] Andrew: Yeah. Yeah, student film. I would for money though. Gotta get that bag somehow, you know?
[1:32:38] Kassie: Wait, this is so inappropriate to ask. But how much money?
[1:32:45] Andrew: It's not inappropriate at all. Um, I don't know. Full frontal or just like chestal? What was Rachel doing?
[1:32:54] Kassie: I think it is. I think I think it was just topless, wasn't it?
[1:32:57] Andrew: Topless. Yeah, I think it was just topless. So let's say just topless. I don't know. Not that much. Like 10 grand. Is that too much? Or is that...
[1:33:08] Kassie: 10 grand? Is I think that is that feels like a lot.
[1:33:12] Andrew: Um, well, yeah, I guess that is. Let's let's but pretend it's not like a random student film. Like what if it was like you got a role as like, oh, and the lead? Let's let's say you got the lead role in in bringing it back to shameless plug our podcast.
[1:33:30] Kassie: Yeah, let's say that Rachel got the lead as like the final girl in a horror film.
[1:33:34] Andrew: Yeah. And they're like, okay, for one of the scenes, you need a shower scene and you need to be topless. And she's like, great, I'll do it. But you need to add an extra X amount of dollars to my contract. How many dollars would that have to be for you to do it?
[1:33:44] Kassie: Well, there is a thing called gender and nipples and how they apply to...
[1:33:54] Andrew: They're not as big of a deal apparently when it comes to male identifying folks.
[1:33:59] Kassie: And so I'm free the glip. I'm showing that clip, you can find you can find the nipple and I'm sure that maybe people will. It's on it's on McGuire guy Instagram feed. It's there. So if you want to go see everyone's live. So that's my answer.
[1:34:12] Kassie: So Cassie, do you have an answer? Do you do you like this prompt? Are you?
[1:34:23] Kassie: I'm the one who gave...
[1:34:28] Kassie: Yeah.
[1:34:29] Kassie: No, I don't think I would. I'm too much of a prude. So I don't well, I'm not a self proclaimed prude. Maggie says I am a prude. So I would say that I would probably not do it. I think it would have to be a lot of money. It's less about just like random people seeing it more just like, my family, like, I don't want my family to see that. Otherwise, if it's just other randos, I don't care. But, you know, I just think that like, I would yeah, not, not just like topless, just like nude in general, like, I would be like, much more concerned about like, the folks in the room, which I know that like Rachel brings up in the episode. And that's why they're they're shirtless that she's like, I'm not comfortable unless like all these other like crew members are also shirtless shirtless. Like, yeah, I think that like that. That would stress me out more than anything. Who else is in the room? Well, I'm naked, you know?
[1:35:24] Andrew: Yeah, yeah. So if if proclaimed award winning, Oscar winning Jennifer Lawrence can do full frontal, not just topless in a film, then we all can do it.
[1:35:34] Kassie: She full frontal and die my love.
[1:35:41] Andrew: I think that's you. I think she was. She's she's full frontal nude and no hard feelings.
[1:35:47] Kassie: Her rom com that she was in last year. That almost seemed like a deep fake, though, when she was full frontal. I'll say that.
[1:36:00] Kassie: You think that wasn't her body?
[1:36:05] Andrew: There was something like that was like, you think that was Leah Michelle's silhouette double? Andrew, Andrew is out here secretly on Jennifer Lawrence's PR team trying to get her clicks to go through the roof by getting all of these glisteners and their freaky little selves to go search Jennifer Lawrence's full frontal nude. Famously, one of the victims of the site like the iCloud, like nude in like 2011. Do you remember that? Or like,
[1:36:22] Kassie: I only remember Vanessa Hudgens on that one.
[1:36:29] Andrew: Yeah, like they got her.
[1:36:30] Kassie: Yeah, they got her. It was bad.
[1:36:37] Andrew: Anyway, love song. Any final notes?
[1:36:43] Kassie: That's it. Nope. Final song of the episode. We're spooky. We're scared.
[1:36:46] Kassie: I thought you were going to say, Andrew, that you went into it thinking you were really going to love it because didn't you say that when you originally were pulling it up or after we got done listening to it? You're like, I went into this thinking I was really going to love it.
[1:36:52] Andrew: And then I went into it thinking I was like, OK, like this song is like, especially when it just starts with Rachel. I'm like, OK, it's mad. Yeah. But then it really becomes a whole beautiful performance.
[1:37:05] Kassie: Yeah, I got I will say what it is against. This is a really interesting competition. Everyone should be scared because you should be scared because it's also like a kind of a spooky performance. There's is it sweet transvestite?
[1:37:26] Kassie: It is sweet transvestite.
[1:37:32] Andrew: Do you hate this competition?
[1:37:33] Kassie: Do I?
[1:37:34] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:37:35] Kassie: No, you're not scared of it.
[1:37:37] Andrew: I'm terrified. Roll the clips and let me let me.
[1:37:38] Kassie: Yeah, OK. Beautiful being footage. Here we go. But yeah, I hate this competition. Does anybody want to start the discourse on sweet transvestite?
[1:37:46] Kassie: No, I'm stressed out. This is Maggie's going to have to start.
[1:37:52] Maggie: I God, I I'm trying to think of words. I just. I love Rocky Horror Glee Show. I think there were many a people who like this was their first introduction to Rocky Horror in general. And the premise of this episode is also just so funny to me. Like, not only teenagers performing this, which isn't too crazy. I mean, theater is a way of a way to express art and art isn't always, you know, doesn't always rub people the right way. It lends itself to controversial topics, if you will.
[1:38:33] Kassie: You know, public high school, though?
[1:38:40] Maggie: Well, they would never. I mean, I mean, I did see Chicago at a high school and that's like got some risque. I mean, it was technically like Chicago high school version. I don't know what. Just the fact that will is like punch them. They do kill people.
[1:38:58] Kassie: They do kill people.
[1:39:03] Maggie: I think they just make the like domestic violence stuff a little less like on the forefront with like some of the songs. But the fact that will is just like, I know nothing about this. This show. And I'm going to just like do it all for sweet. Gemma is crazy.
[1:39:19] Kassie: And everyone is so perfect in their role. Like perfectly, truly, truly, truly.
[1:39:27] Maggie: Yeah. Like perfectly cast as the characters. I just think it's just really chef's kiss. Every song there isn't a skip. It's so, so good. You get really good to hear Amber Riley's vocal stylings and see her just tear the house down, baby. It's while getting some amazing just like bite, like when Santana and Brittany are dancing around her.
[1:39:50] Kassie: I don't know if you've ever listened to this like the I'm sure you have. You've listened to the the mp3 version of this song mp3. And I don't know if you've noticed, but when they do, I love when they do this on songs where they make certain things come in one ear, like, when?
[1:40:08] Maggie: Oh, yes.
[1:40:15] Kassie: And then the left ear. And then maybe a bite.
[1:40:22] Maggie: Yeah.
[1:40:23] Kassie: And then right here. Oh, it's so good. The only other song that I feel like does that is not Glee, but Glee, Jason, the song Bell from Beauty and the Beast, where they go, Bonjour, in different ears. I think that's so fun.
[1:40:39] Maggie: It's perfect. Technology is crazy.
[1:40:41] Kassie: Yeah.
[1:40:42] Maggie: I like this song a lot. I'm like, kind of like, I don't want it to because like, this is not fair to do. But like, Mer Solos, I had to look it up how many Mer Solos are in round four of the Glackett that made it officially to round four. We have six Mer Solos. And that is a lot. Considering, you know, Rachel has, Rachel only has two right now. And so this if she goes through right now, Mercedes is better. Mercedes is eaten up real good. That would bring her to seven. And I'm just like, and I know this is like a really good one. I'm like, ah, like, girl, you've had enough. Enough. Stop.
[1:41:27] Kassie: Can I pose and I hold on? Oh, I have a question first. Do you know how many rocker, rocky horror songs are left in the Glackett? Is this, are they all gone?
[1:41:43] Maggie: No, Touch It, Touch It, Touch Me.
[1:41:47] Kassie: Touch It, Touch Me has to be in. It's in. Okay.
[1:41:52] Maggie: Yeah. Okay, because that is the, the song. And I think all the other ones are gone.
[1:41:58] Kassie: Okay. I think the only other one left was...
[1:42:02] Maggie: Time Warp made it to round three, but...
[1:42:04] Kassie: Oh, Time Warp.
[1:42:05] Maggie: It did not make it to round four.
[1:42:07] Kassie: Cassie, what do you want to say?
[1:42:09] Kassie: What I was going to ask is, and I know that this isn't really fair, and probably not in the spirit of this game. But how would you feel about the song if it wasn't in the context of it being like, rocky horror, and it was just like you were listening to the song?
[1:42:23] Maggie: Oh.
[1:42:25] Kassie: You know what I mean? Like, just thinking about the song itself.
[1:42:30] Maggie: That's called comparing the MP3 and the MP4.
[1:42:33] Kassie: Okay. Now you're getting it.
[1:42:37] Maggie: Now, you know what I mean? Like...
[1:42:41] Kassie: I mean, I don't, I'm not crazy about the lyric changes for this song. I'll say that. I don't know if that answers your question. Because like, it's like, they're not saying transsexual. They're saying from sensational Transylvania, which I'm like, girl, at this point, what are we even doing? Just full send. Just full send. I mean, you already...
[1:43:01] Kassie: You're already doing rocky horror. You would have already gotten in trouble with the school board at this point.
[1:43:08] Maggie: No, I'm just like, what is the FCC gonna do? So anyway, not crazy about that.
[1:43:16] Kassie: This is a very, this is a very interesting matchup in the sense that I know, Andrew, that you really liked the part where Santana gave over the stage to Quinn in Love Song. But Love Song really, I mean, let's, let's just do nuts and bolts here. Love Song is really an MP3. They're not doing much. And Gurley's just singing out of stage. And Sweet Transvestite is very much an MP4, like...
[1:43:37] Andrew: Beautiful point.
[1:43:38] Kassie: I think that, and then also, to further your point, is that the way that they cut up the Love Song MP3 is kind of like, like, it's like, that's, it's so, it's disgusting, what the way that they kind of chop it all up. And then they're like, hey, here's the Love Song that you know and love. And we're like, oh, God, you made like a Frankenstein version of Love Song. You know?
[1:44:02] Andrew: Frankenstein.
[1:44:04] Kassie: Frankenstein.
[1:44:05] Andrew: Bring it back.
[1:44:06] Kassie: So that's a good point. I'm seeing your side.
[1:44:11] Kassie: Cassie, does, does this, the, uh, uh, Sarah, uh, Borealis, I always want to say Borealis. Does Sarah Borealis of it all factor into your decision? I'm not saying it's wrong if it does. I just know that you do really like her.
[1:44:25] Kassie: I think I already know what I'm going to decide, uh, for a couple main reasons. But yeah.
[1:44:32] Kassie: It does not factor into my decision.
[1:44:35] Kassie: I don't really have too much more to say about Sweet Transvestite. I'm like, really excited to hear what everybody's voting for. The only thing that I wanted to add is that every time I watch this performance, I'm reminded by the fact that, um, John Stamos was supposed to sing this song in the episode. And then Fox was like, actually, we are not comfortable with like a man singing Sweet Transvestite.
[1:45:01] Maggie: Okay. I was wondering about that because I would feel like people would be upset about that.
[1:45:06] Kassie: Yeah. And so then they, they gave it to Amber Riley and like, thank God, because like, this is a wonderful version and also better than the Tim Curry version.
[1:45:17] Maggie: I also, and, and Andrew, maybe you can answer this question. Sorry if I cut you off, but I just don't want to lose this thought. I don't know if you've talked to this about, to Kevin and Jenna before, because Cassie, Andrew is like best friends with Kevin McHale.
[1:45:31] Andrew: They're waiting in the living room right now. And they're like, when is this recording going to be over?
[1:45:35] Kassie: I can see them in the mirror behind you, Andrew.
[1:45:37] Andrew: Okay. Well then tell Kevin to send me a video of him singing Karma as a trip from NLT.
[1:45:45] Kassie: I will. Because he's in my living room.
[1:45:47] Kassie: That's the winner of Cassie's Glocket.
[1:45:50] Maggie: Yeah. Um, didn't they say, or maybe it was just discourse that's been had around different songs that have been pulled from this episode, that this was like a really fun episode for them to film too, as a cast.
[1:46:04] Andrew: I actually understand the complete opposite is that like, I remember hearing that they were like, this was the first time that they saw Heather Morris break. And then that that's how they knew that they were like, Oh, we are being extremely overworked. Because like, we're looking at Heather Morris, and she's crying.
[1:46:29] Kassie: Oh, God. So not in a fun way, not breaking like a ha ha, I broke.
[1:46:34] Andrew: No, she's like, no, I'm hired and I need to go home kind of break.
[1:46:39] Kassie: Yeah.
[1:46:43] Andrew: Oh, yeah.
[1:46:45] Kassie: Tatiana in every song.
[1:46:48] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:46:49] Kassie: She's like, in it.
[1:46:50] Andrew: Yeah, perfectly cast as well.
[1:46:54] Kassie: Yeah, that makes me really sad. That makes me really sad. Because all of those songs bring me so much joy and to know that they weren't having any fun.
[1:46:56] Andrew: Because they put their entire glissies into it.
[1:46:59] Kassie: Yeah.
[1:47:02] Kassie: They put their glissies.
[1:47:05] Kassie: Front and center.
[1:47:07] Andrew: Okay, so okay, I don't want people to get upset with me. I just don't want to cause any controversy here. But there is this restaurant that's in the region that we live in called Zorba's. And they replace everything, every S in their menu with a Z.
[1:47:21] Kassie: That's so good.
[1:47:22] Andrew: And it's a lot to handle.
[1:47:24] Kassie: So you want a salad?
[1:47:25] Andrew: And yeah, and this whole glit, gloment with all of these glils is giving me that energy.
[1:47:36] Kassie: I think that's perfect.
[1:47:37] Andrew: And it's just it's something to take in, you know?
[1:47:43] Kassie: I need to go to this restaurant. What else could you you can get like a what's else's S?
[1:47:52] Kassie: Like their menu will literally be like tacos.
[1:47:55] Andrew: Oh, uh-huh.
[1:47:57] Kassie: And like, it'll have a little salsa. Chips and salsa.
[1:48:01] Andrew: Chips and salsa, yeah.
[1:48:02] Kassie: And like, they control, they like control F and like, you know, replace S with Z.
[1:48:09] Andrew: Even if it doesn't even remotely work.
[1:48:11] Kassie: But you guys are just like, make it so natural, putting in like the glil words.
[1:48:15] Andrew: And like, I try to do it and it doesn't work at all.
[1:48:17] Kassie: So like, it is a skill and a talent, but I just haven't managed it yet.
[1:48:22] Andrew: Cassie, it comes out naturally because I've been listening to this podcast every fucking week for years of my life.
[1:48:28] Kassie: Because she has. She's fluent.
[1:48:32] Andrew: I'm fluent in what is the Gleek language?
[1:48:35] Kassie: It's this.
[1:48:36] Andrew: That's something you should know.
[1:48:37] Kassie: Nobody wants to vote.
[1:48:38] Andrew: Gleek, just Gleek.
[1:48:39] Kassie: It's the Glanguage.
[1:48:40] Andrew: I don't want to vote.
[1:48:41] Kassie: No, I'll vote. I'll vote.
[1:48:44] Andrew: Oh, I know what I want to vote, but I don't want to go first. So.
[1:48:44] Kassie: Cassie, are you having an open mind, though? Are you just pre-coming in?
[1:48:49] Kassie: No, I really.
[1:48:50] Andrew: Are you just pre-coming in?
[1:48:51] Kassie: You don't even know what I'm going to vote for, Maggie.
[1:48:54] Maggie: Yeah, but I just know you.
[1:48:56] Kassie: You're very, once you have your mind made up, it is very hard to, not that I'm trying to sway your decision or change your mind. I just want you to be open to what both songs have to offer, if you will.
[1:49:11] Kassie: Are you doing that?
[1:49:11] Kassie: I have no idea what you're like, kind of like swaying her to do.
[1:49:16] Kassie: We'll see.
[1:49:17] Kassie: I'm not trying to sway her towards anything.
[1:49:19] Kassie: I just know.
[1:49:20] Kassie: I think Maggie thinks she knows me so well, but she really doesn't.
[1:49:25] Kassie: Yes, Cassie, don't even go there.
[1:49:30] Kassie: I just really like when people are open to discourse.
[1:49:34] Kassie: My favorite part of these episodes is when you have someone who's like, what you just said changed my mind. Partially because it makes for good content, but also because it's like, I like that it's not just like, I like the song better because the vibes are better.
[1:49:48] Kassie: You can't argue at the wall.
[1:49:51] Kassie: I get that that's partially what the glock it is. I get that, but it's just like, I just, I want to have a discussion.
[1:49:56] Kassie: When it comes to this stuff, I'm very easily persuaded. I would never be able to be on a debate team because somebody will be like, but what about this? And I'll be like, oh, yeah, I guess, you know, I'll just believe anything anyone says.
[1:50:07] Kassie: No, I think you brought up that point. And honestly, what you said about Sweet Transvestite without revealing my vote did offer a different perspective that I wasn't thinking about, that I'm considering.
[1:50:23] Kassie: Which part?
[1:50:24] Kassie: When you said that the love song is much more of an MP3 than MP4. Whereas Sweet Transvestite has both going for it.
[1:50:34] Andrew: Okay. Alright. Beautiful point.
[1:50:36] Kassie: Well, I think I have my mind made up. So I'm ready.
[1:50:41] Kassie: Cassie, you said you're ready. So you were, I yelled at you because you came in so sure of what you were going to vote for.
[1:50:47] Kassie: I know.
[1:50:48] Kassie: Well, okay. So you should go first.
[1:50:51] Kassie: Here's what I will say is I came in thinking one thing and I came out thinking another thing. So you're welcome.
[1:50:59] Kassie: Um, so I really like love song, but I don't think it holds up.
[1:51:04] Kassie: I don't think it holds up against Sweet Transvestite.
[1:51:07] Kassie: I choose Sweet Transvestite as the winner.
[1:51:11] Kassie: I think that I really like the harmonies and love song. But if you take the whole song as a piece, the other one's just better.
[1:51:21] Andrew: I think that's...
[1:51:27] Kassie: Wow, you guys seem really disappointed.
[1:51:32] Andrew: I'm trying to gauge what Andrew is like.
[1:51:34] Kassie: That was the longest, most uncomfortable silence.
[1:51:37] Kassie: You need to leave that whole silence in.
[1:51:39] Andrew: I know.
[1:51:39] Kassie: Because they told me to share my feelings.
[1:51:41] Kassie: I'm going to double it.
[1:51:42] Kassie: They told me to share my feelings and then they just leave me completely hanging afterwards.
[1:51:48] Kassie: So then I just want to flee.
[1:51:51] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:51:52] Kassie: Um, Maggie, are you putting me in the hot?
[1:51:56] Kassie: I'm so scared.
[1:51:58] Maggie: No, I'm not.
[1:51:59] Maggie: I'm also voting for Sweet Transvestite.
[1:52:01] Kassie: Okay.
[1:52:01] Maggie: That's kind of like what I was hoping was going to happen.
[1:52:03] Kassie: So I could be the martyr.
[1:52:04] Maggie: I love being the martyr.
[1:52:07] Kassie: Of course you would.
[1:52:09] Kassie: Because I know people are going to come for us.
[1:52:11] Kassie: Well, no, it's a pity vote though.
[1:52:12] Kassie: Because I think that Maggie, you have effectively convinced me that Sweet Transvestite is the better Glee song.
[1:52:18] Kassie: I'll say that.
[1:52:19] Kassie: Okay, great.
[1:52:20] Kassie: But let it be known, Elijah, who is keeping the document of voting history, Cassie, this is the person that is recording how each vote goes in every episode.
[1:52:31] Kassie: Elijah, make it known that this is indeed a pity vote for Love Song.
[1:52:36] Kassie: Yeah, put an asterisk.
[1:52:37] Kassie: And make it known that my vote for Jessie's Girl was not a pity vote.
[1:52:42] Kassie: I say that with my whole chest and I stand on business.
[1:52:44] Kassie: Yeah, she was topless for that vote.
[1:52:47] Kassie: I was, my whole chest, my whole bare chest.
[1:52:52] Kassie: Oh boy, I'm a mother.
[1:52:54] Kassie: So I, sorry, I just wanted to say that.
[1:53:00] Kassie: Yeah, why were you going quiet when I voted then?
[1:53:02] Kassie: You made it sound like you hated what I said.
[1:53:04] Andrew: No, I, no, I just really, really thought that Andrew was going to be upset.
[1:53:14] Kassie: I don't know.
[1:53:14] Kassie: I just thought he was going to be upset.
[1:53:15] Kassie: So I was trying to gauge his reaction to what you were saying before I said anything else.
[1:53:21] Kassie: Even though, like, okay, we've had two songs in this episode that have had a glistory in the glacket.
[1:53:29] Kassie: Love Song and Jessie's Girl.
[1:53:30] Andrew: But Love Song, I know it's like really...
[1:53:33] Kassie: And we just killed both of them.
[1:53:35] Kassie: Really celebrated by the Gleeks.
[1:53:37] Kassie: And I just want, I want everyone, before they get like mad or like they start the campaign for like Love Song to be voted back, I just want you to consider what Maggie said, where it's like, yes, this is a beautiful song. And like, I love listening to it. You brought up a really great point as well, that the outfits are giving a lot to be desired. And it's just like, I mean, just, I want to be real about, maybe I'm gonna eat my words while listening, like while editing back. I'm like, do I actually mean this?
[1:54:05] Kassie: This is, Love Song is not like one of the best, uh, one of the best-
[1:54:16] Andrew: No, I get what you're saying, Andrew.
[1:54:17] Kassie: No, it's not.
[1:54:18] Kassie: I get what you're saying because, because there, there have been many times on the 200 plus episodes that I've listened to where people say, okay, put it this way. Will the song win your Glackett? Like, that's kind of sometimes how the vote is like, like, that's kind of how the vote is approached. Like, okay, we have a hard competition, but like, is the song you pick, would that, could that win your Glackett?
[1:54:39] Andrew: And I know people in the past have gotten like mad.
[1:54:42] Kassie: No, but here's, here's the thing, Maggie, is that when I, when I created this premise of the Glackett in 2018, like I did, I did it quickly just from memory without watching the performances.
[1:54:53] Andrew: And I was just like, this song versus this song, da, da, da, da, da.
[1:54:56] Kassie: And I was, the top three, Love Song was in the top three for me.
[1:55:01] Andrew: Um, it was Landslide, Valerie Season 2, and, um, and Love Song.
[1:55:06] Kassie: Uh, and so, like this, it, it does like really, it, it, it fared well in 2018.
[1:55:16] Andrew: Um, but I just like now, like doing this exercise of like getting so many different people's opinions, this isn't like, this isn't it, you know?
[1:55:29] Kassie: That's the thing is it's like, I know where I was going with that is some people have said like, they don't like when someone uses that as an excuse for why they voted one way or another.
[1:55:38] Kassie: But I don't think there's anything wrong with that being like the premise of why you're casting a vote.
[1:55:45] Kassie: Like, the whole point is to put the best songs forward.
[1:55:49] Andrew: And I get it. Best is open to interpretation.
[1:55:51] Kassie: That's literally the point of this podcast.
[1:55:54] Andrew: However, like going forward, I was all like also looking at just the songs that are going to be in round four.
[1:56:01] Kassie: And obviously, this goes without saying, but holy shit, Andrew, you are going to have a rough time.
[1:56:07] Andrew: Every, every episode, screaming, crying.
[1:56:10] Kassie: It's going to be, it's going to be brutal, brutal, brutal, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being like, this one compared to others, not that good.
[1:56:20] Andrew: I know, but like, I'm sorry. I just wanted to say that.
[1:56:22] Kassie: It's just like, it's just not.
[1:56:22] Kassie: I don't know.
[1:56:22] Kassie: I know that we're wrapping up, but like Ian brought up like a few episodes ago that like, I think that like, I'm being mean to songs on their way out that have made it this far is like not actually like, it's like kind of like a disservice to these songs that it's like, these songs aren't bad.
[1:56:34] Kassie: We're just kind of like causing a stink about them to justify.
[1:56:47] Andrew: Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you know?
[1:56:50] Kassie: Sure.
[1:56:50] Kassie: So anyway.
[1:56:53] Andrew: Yeah.
[1:56:53] Kassie: Well, I don't think Love Song is bad.
[1:56:55] Kassie: I just think if you think about it top to bottom from the first note to the last note and compare it to Sweet Transvestite first note to last note, that's just how we feel.
[1:57:00] Kassie: And if you don't like it, then you be a guest on the podcast.
[1:57:07] Kassie: Right, right, Cassie.
[1:57:09] Kassie: Oh, there, because I didn't have any credentials and I'm here.
[1:57:13] Kassie: You were at the Hot Topic in 2009.
[1:57:17] Kassie: Well, yeah, that's your credentials.
[1:57:19] Kassie: My credentials is I'm related to Maggie, so full on nepotism happening here.
[1:57:25] Kassie: And Nepo's sister.
[1:57:27] Kassie: Her sister, he's her sister.
[1:57:30] Andrew: Okay, in a recap for this episode, you keep me hanging on and we'll keep you hanging on for another round, baby.
[1:57:39] Kassie: Jessie's girl, Jessie's, oh, Jessie, we're breaking up.
[1:57:42] Kassie: Jessie, ex-girl.
[1:57:46] Kassie: I don't know.
[1:57:47] Kassie: Love Song.
[1:57:47] Kassie: Miss you, boo boo.
[1:57:48] Kassie: Love Song.
[1:57:50] Kassie: I'm not gonna write you a love song.
[1:57:52] Kassie: Not in round four.
[1:57:57] Andrew: You are so, so, so sweet to me and you are transitioning into round four.
[1:58:05] Kassie: Wow, well done.
[1:58:06] Andrew: Beautiful.
[1:58:08] Kassie: Well done, Andrew.
[1:58:09] Andrew: Cassie, Maggie, this has been a beautiful two hours that we've been talking about everything.
[1:58:17] Kassie: Mostly the hit Fox show, Glee.
[1:58:18] Andrew: Truly.
[1:58:19] Kassie: But I really want everyone listening to listen to Skip or Scream.
[1:58:25] Kassie: Maybe a really good gateway drug would be my episode of Skip or Scream.
[1:58:30] Kassie: And then you'll be like, wait, these girls can indeed talk. Let me subscribe and listen to every single one.
[1:58:34] Kassie: Where can people do that?
[1:58:40] Kassie: It is really fun, listeners, because I told Andrew the premise of our podcast several times and he still came on and wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do.
[1:58:50] Kassie: So I agreed to do the recording during the business.
[1:58:54] Kassie: It was my 30th birthday week. I overbooked myself. I don't know. I'm so I feel so bad about it.
[1:59:00] Kassie: But it was a fun episode.
[1:59:02] Kassie: It was so it was honestly, it honestly was so, so fun, Andrew.
[1:59:05] Kassie: I'm giving you shit just because the way that it happened and unrolled and unveiled itself was hilarious.
[1:59:11] Kassie: But it was so, so fun.
[1:59:15] Kassie: You can follow us at Skip or Scream podcast on pretty much everything.
[1:59:21] Kassie: And come check it out.
[1:59:23] Kassie: You don't have to be a huge horror head if you just like mystery and want to know how scary movies end.
[1:59:28] Kassie: It's super casual.
[1:59:31] Kassie: It's super chill. Based on the conversation we had with Andrew today, you can tell we're not like highfalutin film critics, which is we just like scary movies and like talking about them.
[1:59:43] Kassie: And there's also just a lot of like a general talk to not in a boring way.
[1:59:48] Kassie: We have a question of the week and we talk about funny stories that happen in our lives and general millennial talk.
[2:00:00] Andrew: Well, thank you again for coming on. This has been such a perfect beginning episode of 2026.
[2:00:08] Andrew: And hey, next week there's going to be another episode of this damn podcast and I really hope that you listen to it. It never ends. This thing will never end.
[2:00:15] Maggie: Hey Andrew, don't say that. It will indeed end. There will be an end to the Glacket one day.
[2:00:20] Andrew: No, I don't know. The bomb will drop and the only thing left will be the cockroaches and Gleek of the Week. That's all that will be left.
[2:00:26] Kassie: Wait a minute, the cockroaches will be like, what's the winner?
[2:00:32] Maggie: I'm gonna have to go back and listen to a bunch of episodes and be like the troll in the chat being like, I think you should have kept this song.
[2:00:37] Andrew: Why I oughta. Yeah. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
