Allison called in as John Pork. We set up a phone and they needed one of the participants at the party needed to find the phone. And then when they saw who was calling, of course, it was John Pork.

And there is the pig knows that it switched to FaceTime. Allison is on FaceTime. And the exercise was John Pork is calling. What, what is, what do you say? And the winner was nice to meet you. Yeah, yeah, meet. And it was Hunter. Previous Gleek. That Hunter. Yes. Previous Gleek. But the big gag of the party, and I will have already posted about this on the McGuaguy account. Follow me there. Oh, okay. Plug is that I invited a lot of people to this party from different stages of my life, high school, college, work, whatever. And not, not one person knew everybody that was going to be there. So I thought it'd be fun to hire an actor to come to the party and for it to be announced at the beginning of the party that there wasn't, was a traitor in our midst.

And someone that is going under an alias. And halfway through the event, we had a voting section where everybody voted. And then it was the reveal of Defying Gravity where said person, Gabrielle, beautiful girl that went under the alias of Kayla, did rise up when it was the time to sing, it's me, outing herself as the traitor. And it was just simply iconic. It was everything I needed.

[1:09:39] Patrick: I think that it's I've been thinking about this a lot with Wicked for Good, not to steer the direction completely to Wicked instead of this song.

[1:09:50] Andrew: But if it was going to be any song this episode, I think Seasons of Love makes sense.

[1:09:56] Patrick: Yeah, I feel like these songs that people don't like realize are from musicals.

[1:10:06] Andrew: Are so powerful, like I think for good for good is like every public graduation, every public high school's graduation song, and I could see Seasons of Love being a similar

[1:10:18] Patrick: um, sentiment.

[1:10:21] Andrew: And it's just so powerful, the effect that musical theater can have.

[1:10:28] Patrick: It's really great.

[1:10:29] Andrew: I really love that.

[1:10:31] Andrew: I was watching it this watch through through the lens of the current students of like, I do think it's really beautiful that, oh my God, I have something in my throat this entire episode.

[1:10:46] Patrick: Um, he's just choked up, guys.

[1:10:48] Andrew: He was actually sobbing.

[1:10:49] Andrew: I've been choked up since Crush really got me.

[1:10:53] Patrick: Um, but no, I was like thinking about them that like, I think it's really nice that like in a portion of the series where they're given like, jack shit to do that. I think it's really nice that they literally gave a spotlight to these five characters that were introduced as Finn, Finn's arc was ending that it's like, but I'm like, what, like looking at them as like characters that are like, okay, they're just getting started on their like artistic journeys.

[1:11:23] Andrew: They're, they're being creative. They're being they're using their talents and everything. They're seeing someone that's just a few years older than them.

[1:11:32] Patrick: Um, like, make first steps out into the real world.

[1:11:36] Andrew: And then that person is now gone.

[1:11:38] Patrick: And I'm like, oh, like, that's, they, there's something there that is like, really so heavy to unpack that, like, I don't know if they were like, even consider like, being like, how is Marley really taking this, right?

[1:11:56] Allison: You know, we need a Marley check in maybe.

[1:11:59] Andrew: Or Ryder.

[1:12:02] Patrick: And like, he's like, had a connection with, I guess, he didn't really have much with like, Jake or, um, he had like that thing with Unique in the, in the Grease plot line.

[1:12:19] Patrick: It's just like, I was watching it.

[1:12:22] Andrew: I was thinking about these, these children.

[1:12:25] Patrick: I feel bad for these fictional children.

[1:12:29] Patrick: Because where, where are their plot lines taken after this?

[1:12:36] Andrew: Oh, well, like, Jake just cheats.

[1:12:39] Patrick: And then his character just like ends with like, I'm gonna be nasty for the nation.

[1:12:45] Andrew: And, uh, and you're the last you're gonna see of me is he's kind of a scumbag.

[1:12:50] Patrick: And honestly, Gleeks proved me wrong.

[1:12:52] Andrew: Did Jake end the series?

[1:12:54] Patrick: Did he end his plot not being a scumbag?

[1:12:56] Andrew: I want to be, well, he worked with Ryder to kind of try to cheer up Marley in Nationals.

[1:13:03] Patrick: And then they were all kind of like, we're friends and we're all getting written off by, um, Snow.

[1:13:11] Andrew: I can, what a crazy thing to say as a person.

[1:13:14] Patrick: I know that I'm getting written off.

[1:13:16] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:13:18] Patrick: Swan song.

[1:13:20] Andrew: Jeez Louise.

[1:13:22] Andrew: Do you guys think that they were planning to go full New York ever?

[1:13:33] Patrick: Or is it just because, because like all of those care people that we were just referencing, those

[1:13:40] Andrew: actors were signed on to be series regulars in season five, whereas in season four, they were literally are through the entire New York plot, like through those New York episodes, you know,

[1:13:51] Patrick: we're seeing Melissa Benoist.

[1:13:53] Andrew: And it's like, I haven't seen Melissa Benoist in seven episodes.

[1:13:58] Patrick: That was curious.

[1:13:59] Andrew: Like, I mean, we've talked about this a million times, like what was going to happen?

[1:14:03] Patrick: Um, yeah, I, I think it's a great point, Andrew, like what were these other people thinking?

[1:14:08] Andrew: And, you know, the show couldn't be, let's take four episodes to like grieve Corey and explore it through every character's eyes.

[1:14:18] Patrick: Like that would be like, obviously too much.

[1:14:22] Andrew: So yeah, a lot is left up to kind of like interpretation there.

[1:14:27] Patrick: But what I, what I, I don't know. It always kind of is weird to me because like, at least the older kids will be able to say, or this people in New York will be able to be like, yeah, it's been like, a rough couple of weeks.

[1:14:40] Andrew: So like, sometimes they'd even bring up like, yeah, a thin, like you need like thin that happened, remember?

[1:14:47] Patrick: But like for the McKinley storyline, it was always just Mr. Schuster being like, I know it's been like hard lately. Let's twerk.

[1:14:55] Andrew: You know, it was always like, it's crazy.

[1:14:57] Patrick: It's crazy because no one said anything.

[1:15:00] Patrick Sammon: Is being hung up while they're like doing Blurred Lines and I'm like oh whoa what the fuck like the characters like what I'm trying to get at is that like Marley and Ryder and stuff they never even got a line like that or it could even be like semi-acknowledged that that happened it was yeah so I hate I hate pulling these songs like I know it's just like ah it's so hard but I mean and I have a feeling that we're gonna get this song again again at least one more time. Yeah the the thing though and I completely agree with what you both were saying like it was such a good way to open that episode and whenever I watch this I kind of feel comfort. Does that happen to you guys? Yeah I just like remember feeling kind of anxious about how they were going to handle it in the show and like how they were going to do stuff and like who's going to be there and for them to open it with like everybody there and like everyone's sad, like them acknowledging that, like he died, like right away.

Yeah, I I was kind of like, I feel like at the time I kind of was able to like exhale and then it's just very, I don't know, the way it's staged, the way they did it, I I just, I really like it. Um, it's probably, it might be my favorite from the episode, to be honest. I would agree with that, so I I don't know, it's very, um, much going to round four, I guess. You're gonna have to watch it again. I love, I feel like I say this every time, but like the Tino vocal, that like, yeah, I think that it's, it could have very easily been given to Naya, it could have been given to Amber, it could have been given to hey now Melissa Benoist, um, but I love that Jenna got that because like she sounds the way that he died, just like that, and sound just like her, really, really beautiful to me, um, really special.

So, um, this, yeah, this episode I feel like might be, I don't know, I like how they wrote it in a way that people grieve differently, like the whole puck and the tree and then the, uh, Letterman's jacket with Santana and Kurt, and I, I think this might be one of the last well-written Glee episodes. Oh well, could you imagine if they like were like it was like sloppy? Oh god, yeah, they could have done it so much worse. I'm sure that they could have, but like that would be crazy if they were like if they were phoning in this episode, that would be really, really insane. They, you could tell that they took their time with it, even like, I don't know, I remember not calling you out in Alina, but I remember listening to your quarterback review and I do have really complicated feelings about the Tina scene in this episode where she's in Emma's office and um and she's like talking about like how she's wearing black again and like how she has like a really complicated relationship with with the color black and everything, and it's like one scene of humor in this episode, and they were making a point that it's like how like it's a disservice to Tina as a character, you know, and a disservice to, you know, the entire or I don't know, they can better explain it than I can.

But I I have like a complicated feeling with that because like I kind of respect them for like implanting this scene of like hey, we can still like laugh, yeah, like the fact that because Emma gives her a pamphlet that says am I crass, yeah, am I callous, yeah, um, uh, which I think is like it's just like oh okay, we we can like find levity in like the oh really undeniably dark episode, yeah, um, so yeah. I mean the point that Ian and Lena probably made is like you're already not giving Jenna a lot to do and then like that's one thing that you give her, um, but yeah I I agree what you're saying Andrew, like that episode in general is just like really good and like I remember reading I think that like Ryan stopped everything that he was working on and he like wrote that episode and like yeah part of me is like why didn't you do that for like all of Glee when it was getting bad.

Exactly, like I was kind of like I was like can you do episode four and five and six as well. Yeah, yeah. Hey, um, gosh, yeah, I uh I but I said it already I just like this these songs and then like cough syrup it's like I'm I'm done. Like I would like to find ways to honor having my hat be no longer talked about, um, because I don't know. I know Andrew, you especially feel this way because you're here for every competition but like just having been here, like I was here for fire and rain, I was here for this song, I was here for cough syrup twice, it's like even as someone who's just like here sometimes it's like I I've said what I can say. Like, it's sad and I hate that those things happened, or for cough syrup, I know it didn't happen, but it's still like a heavy storyline that I don't want to talk about for a third time.

I don't want Andrew to have to talk about this in next round, but it's like I, it's, it's a hard one. I remember actually you two saying that in the first round, or the second round rather, or I forget which, but like you're like we're retiring xyz songs, and at the time, making all my love, yeah, I was like that was first round. I was like oh, like I don't know if like I feel that it's like as deep as you guys are making it out to be, and then when I started like actually participating in the competitions where they happen, I'm like yeah, let's like not talk about this anymore, it's not yeah make you feel my love, yeah, but even some of the lesser like intense ones, it's still kind of like oh gosh, um yeah, yeah.

We don't have—do we have Naya's solo from this episode? No, we're done. This is the last song from this episode. Okay, I know it. It's tough because the—this episode is part of the show, so in a way it's gonna be something that we always have to talk about and have to rip the band-aid every time, um, and just like looking at it at an mp3 is like seasons of love versus love you like a love song. Crazy, crazy to me, um, but seasons of love, you like a love song, seasons of love, you like a love song. I—I—but I get what you're saying. It's like it's hard to talk about, but it's also maybe it's important to talk about, and I don't think like this is seasons of love to me. Glee cast version by Glee cast I feel like is—it's not as difficult as the—it's the least painful.

I would agree with that because nobody is like ending the song actively, like, choking up, sobbing, or—yeah, it's—it's emotional, but as a group in a way that they support each other and have each other. Yeah, that comfort. Agreed, it's that comfort, um, but yeah, and it opens the door to a bunch of, I mean, nuanced conversations about the series as a whole and its future from this episode or this, um, event, and that's just what Glee is. I don't think you can have a conversation without about Glee without about the this, you know. Yeah, you can't. Yeah, acknowledging, yeah, yeah, you know, Allison, you talked about how you wanted to pour one out for, um, gosh, I'm so bad with song titles, the the one that was in our competition, Andrew, with the, um, ABBA song that beat it.

Oh, I saw in a sense like this is kind of like a similar level to it, where it's like kind of the group being like we're all here together and acknowledging that, like, this person is no longer with us and we're all here kind of hand in hand singing about it and at some point you made was very good, where it's like a lot of the other quarterback songs are like, let's explore how this character is processing grief, and maybe this one, I'm glad that we're talking about it because I'm having a better, easier time being able to express why it's comforting to me. It's like, it's not like a trauma dump exploration thing, it's like a, all right, leaks like this happened and it was sad and like we're here with you, like we're acknowledging it, everybody's on stage, we're talking about it.

Um, yeah, it's not like plot driven, it's just like this is kind of for you, um, you know, as much as it is for us. So yeah, yeah, I love it. I, I'm done talking about it, yeah, for now, for now, but in round four we're going to talk about it again because I don't think we're sending love you like a love song through after. I know I, as much as I'm like, but also I, you hate love you like a love song so you're looking, you're like, oh, I guess I love you like a love song. Is that—I remember when Seasons of Love went through last round, I was like, I think that round three is the is the round that it's gonna make it to, and like, that's gonna probably be it because of the real life ramifications and all of that.

But now I'm like, no, no, if there's one, which is fine, yeah, if there's one song from The Quarterback that makes it through to round four, I think that this is a good one to do. So yeah, it's less of a peek into everybody's individual therapy sessions and more of a group suit, communal, yeah. Um, I'm also voting for Seasons of Love. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
