Damian Joseph McGinty is an Irish singer and actor, best known for his time with the singing group Celtic Thunder and for winning the reality television show The Glee Project. Born in Derry, Northern Ireland, McGinty was performing with Celtic Thunder by the age of 14, where he quickly gained recognition for his vocal talents. In 2011, he beat out 40,000 contenders to win the first season of The Glee Project, a prize that earned him a recurring role on the hit Fox series Glee.
On Glee, McGinty portrayed Rory Flanagan, an Irish exchange student, for 18 episodes across the third and fourth seasons. Since his departure from the show, he has continued his successful music career both as a solo artist and by rejoining Celtic Thunder for special tours. Beyond singing, he has appeared in other TV projects and was a finalist on the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars in 2023. He has also released several solo EPs and albums, blending his Irish folk roots with modern pop music.
