*BLOOD/LOVE* - A New Original Musical Sinks Its Teeth Into Off-Broadway This February

A new original musical, *BLOOD/LOVE*, will premiere Off-Broadway in February 2026. Created by Carey Sharpe and Dru DeCaro, it presents a contemporary twist on the classic vampire tale. Directed by Hunter Bird, the show features a talented cast and crew, including choreography by Jonathan Platero and Oksana Platero, along with music supervision by Matt Hinkley. The opening is set for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following performances beginning on February 13.

December 4, 2025 (New York, NY) The new original musical BLOOD/LOVE will make its way Off-Broadway this spring. BLOOD/LOVE will begin performances at Theater 555 (555 West 42nd Street) on Friday, February 13, 2026, and is scheduled to open on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, for a limited run through Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Directed by Hunter Bird (Masquerade), BLOOD/LOVE is a new original musical written by Carey Sharpe and Grammy nominee Dru DeCaro. Sharpe will also play the leading role of Valerie Bloodlove. Choreography is by Jonathan Platero & Oksana Platero (“Dancing with the Stars,” “So You Think You Can Dance”), with music supervision by Matt Hinkley (The Outsiders) and music direction by Ben Covello. The design team includes:

BIOS
CAREY SHARPE (Co-Writer, Valerie) spent her childhood steeped in music, starting with formal violin training at the age of 3. Driven by her desire to help children like herself born with severe congenital heart disease, she spent 12 years working in pediatric critical care. In 2015, she became a mother and returned to her love of music.
DRU DeCARO (Co-Writer) is a two-time Grammy nominee and multi-platinum selling record producer. He is guitarist and bandleader of NBC’s “Songland.” His work spans various genres and mediums.
HUNTER BIRD (Director) is a Brooklyn-based theater director and writer of new works, notably for Masquerade.
NATALIE MALOTKE (Co-Choreography) is a director and choreographer with various credits in theater and television.
JONATHAN PLATERO (Co-Choreography) gained recognition on “So You Think You Can Dance” and now serves as supervising choreographer for Univision’s hit show “Mira Quien Baila.”
OKSANA PLATERO (Co-Choreography) is an actress, dancer, and choreographer, having performed on major television productions and global stages.
MATT HINKLEY (Music Supervision) is the Music Director and Co-Orchestrator for Broadway and has various notable productions to his credit.
BEN COVELLO (Music Direction) is a New York Music Director with experience across various theaters and productions.
JASON ARDIZZONE-WEST (Set Design) is an Emmy award-winning designer known for his transformative environments in theater and concerts.
ALEX & JULI ABENE (Costume Design) are New York-based costume designers and stylists specializing in theater and live music.
JAPHY WEIDEMAN (Lighting Design) has designed for several Broadway productions and has received multiple Tony nominations.
JESSICA PAZ (Sound Design) is a multi-award winning sound designer, recognized for her work on various Broadway productions.
59 STUDIO (Projection Design) specializes in the design and integration of visual effects for live performances.
